Gahanna has worked hard to become known as more than just a suburb of Columbus. The community has developed a vibrant character, and in 2007 was named one of the best places to live in America by Money magazine. Locally-owned businesses flourish, and historic buildings have been lovingly preserved all over town. The city limits of Gahanna contain nearly 800 acres of parkland, including the 50 acre Gahanna Woods State Nature Preserve. The local schools get excellent ratings and the crime rate is quite low, making Gahanna a very appealing place for folks raising families.
Gahanna’s position just northeast of Columbus proper allows residents to easily reach the bigger city’s attractions, including the Ohio State University campus, the Columbus Zoo, and of course the endless dining, shopping, and entertainment options. Less than fifteen minutes from downtown Columbus by car, Gahanna apartments are close enough to be a convenient home base for commuters as well.

Property Ratings at The Vista at Rocky Fork
Just moved into a townhouse and am really disappointed. I really liked the location and the size of the townhome but the townhome is disgusting and filthy. There is so much grease coating the stove, light fixtures, and kitchen cabinets I feel like I'm in a fast food restaurant kitchen. There is dirt and dust an inch thick coating the air vents, the back of the refrigerator, stove and the basement laundry area. There are so many cobwebs in the place, I thought it was decorated for Halloween. The windows are filthy, window screens have holes in them, I cannot open one window and another window will not stay open. The windows have so much condensation on them you can barely see out. Looks like there is water damage around several of the windows. The siding is buckled and the outdoor light fixtures are cheap plastic and so filthy they barely put out any light. The patio door screen is falling apart and screen is torn out. The dishwasher and garbage disposal are very noisy, the refrigerator is small, and the stove looks like it is from 1980. Cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms are pressed particle board and the glued on wood grain is peeling off. The kitchen countertops are really old laminate. The gas fireplace is filthy and the gas log needs replaced. The top of the shower stall is very low. I'm 5'10 and have to duck to enter the shower. The shower doors are very cheap. Vinyl looks fairly new but there is a big gash in the kitchen floor. It looks like a 5 year old painted the interior of the townhome. There is so much paint on the doors, baseboards, etc, I'm not sure what color they are really supposed to be. The baseboards are coming off the walls and it's comfortable in the basement and first floor but hot on the second floor. I even closed the vents in the basement and on the first floor thinking it would force the cold air up to the second floor, it did not. I guess I'm going to have to buy a window air conditioner to cool the second floor. I found gobs of hair, cheerios, kids and cat toys in the floor air vents. I found empty water bottles in the cabinets, used straws and other kitchen items underneath the stove. I understand that the complex is old but there is no reason they could not have had someone clean the place before giving me the keys. The townhome I rented is nothing like the model. I am really regretting not choosing another complex. If at all possible, make sure you physically tour the apartment you are going to rent.
This was our number one choice for our daughter. We were out of state (Virginia) & looking for a nice place that was also located in a safe location for our daughter. This had the best of everything, including the manager working there Kristin “KP”. She also gave us option Incase our daughter’s roommate fell they with the other Casto Communities. She called the other places so they would expect us. She even offered her info so our daughter could ask questions about anything, not just about the apartment complex. Even the current residents would come up and tell us it was a great option. I would recommend not only the Vista but any of the other Casto Properties. All were very helpful and courteous.
Property Manager at The Vista at Rocky Fork, Responded To This Review
Thank you so much for the review! We agree, KP and the Vista staff are the best!
I would definately recommend the Vista at Rocky Fork apartments. I really like the spacious apartments, the scenic ponds, wooded areas, swimming pool and location. The apartment complex is close to all the shops and restaurants in Gahanna, Ohio. There are many places in walking distance. I love the fact it is close to everything but still has the beautiful and scenic wooded area and ponds. You get to enjoy the nature aspect of it as well. Although, it is a big complex it is so quiet and peaceful. I also like the fact that there is a onsite fitness center which I can utilize if I am not able to go to my gym. There are many good amenities which the Vista offers and I would recommend this place to anyone.
The Vistas at Rocky Fork - My apartment complex is truly a place you can call home. Some say that the rent is a little high but you have to pay for what you get and then would never sacrifice my well being for lower rent......Security is s big factor for me and I always feel safe. Upkeep is also a must and the property is well kept. Staff including maintenance is readily available and pleasant. Location is as also a big plus as there is ample restaurants, shopping, movie theatres, schools and so much more close by. In other words the Vistas of Rocky Fork is the place to be.
The staff are responsive and friendly. However, we and neighbors experienced the same major issues that should have been fixed or red flagged before we moved in. After living here for a year, I think the previous renter moved because they didn't want to deal with all the maintenance issues. Here's the list of things that should NOT be issues when you pay a lot of money for a livable environment: 1.Toilet flush valve (sounded like a shotgun when flushed, maintenance guy had never heard that sound before) 2.Toilet wax ring (water leaked from the floor) 3. Hot water heater pilot light went out in winter. No hot water for three days. 4. Hot water heater pilot light was relit and remained lit for a week before it went out again. 5. Hot water heater stopped working again and was finally replaced with a new AO Smith heater. 6. The person above us moved out after living there for 12 years. That apartment was vacant for 2 days. In that time, the toilet supply line in the above apartment burst (80 PSI) and water began flowing out of the wall and therefore flooding that bathroom and even into the living room. I noticed this because water from the above flooding apartment began raining out of my kitchen lights and even into my living room. Water also began leaking around our fuse box. I frantically gathered every possible water basin to catch the leaking water. The maintenance guy came and poked holes in my ceiling to relieve pressure from the flooding upstairs. He even asked if I had more buckets. The smell and moisture is still present. 7. The bathroom faucet had to be replaced. 8. The shower does not drain. Take a shower and stand in 2 inches of your own filth. 9. Air filter was replaced one time in one year. 10. Air Conditioner failed in the middle of summer. Most of our neighbors have moved and we are moving as well. I recommend the staff and their friendliness and responsiveness but not the building or property. These are pretty major things that should have been foreseen and prevented if you're a reputable inspector.
I have.lived in the complex since 2011. The office staff has always been very nice and always helpful. The grounds are clean and well kept and maintenence has always fixed issues within 24 hours. The complex is quiet and as I work nights I can say I have never had an issue sleeping during the day. The pool is nice as is the work out room. I love walking the complex grounds The neighborhood is convenient to all sorts of dining and shopping experiences. It's the perfect place to live
