It has been great living here! I love how close it is to Franklin Street. It is not a bad walk to campus and to other apartment complexes. Also love the give aways.
The exposed brick and circle windows are pretty, but overall i would 100% have lived somewhere else. Between the multiple wifi outages, AC outages, bug problems, and sketchy elevators (we got stuck in them, they would drop as we were in them, or they were out of order), it wasn’t worth the money. Not to mention, the maintainence visited our apartment 3 or so times a week for replacements/something not working, which usually they just walked in without knocking. Would not recommend.
The management does not care about the residents here. The wifi hasn't been working since I moved in 7 months ago. You would think they know that for a college student, wifi is extremely important. There seem to be bug problems in many of the apartments (I was bitten in my sleep). There is absolutely no visitor parking, which is what I am the angriest about because friends/family come to visit from out of town and are unable to park anywhere close to my apartment. They seem to spend the majority of their time putting out snacks and coffee for residents instead of fixing the bigger issues. Also, the elevators are constantly breaking.
This is a great place to be if you are a college or graduate student in the Chapel Hill area. The large majority of the tenants in this building are 19-25 years old, so be aware that the building can often be quite loud, especially because its ceiling is glass and its walls are tin, causing an echo. If that fits your age range and you are looking for a residence where you really get to know your neighbors, I recommend living in Warehouse. Due to the small size and average resident age, people often leave their doors open during the day and during parties in the evening, which leads to introductions but also noise (there are 4 floors, with roughly 130 apartments total). There are many pro's, including location (less than 10 minutes walking from main campus), security, parking price ($80 p/m for outside parking behind the building), and rooftop sundeck. The apartments have also been recently remodeled, with new floors and kitchen appliances. Perhaps my favorite plus is the ability to rent furniture through a $20 monthly rental fee, which covers furniture such as bed, dresser, desk, living room furniture, and a kitchen table. There are also cons. The management at Warehouse is sub-par. If you need much more than a quick question, they will take their precious time to do anything for you. Maintenance requests are different, because there is an automatic online resident portal where tenants can log in to their account and request maintenance through an inquiry section. However, if you have continuing problems or payment issues, utilities concerns, or more involved questions, those in the main office do not know how to help. The secretary will often say to email the manager, who does not answer emails. They are not the nicest people to speak with based on my experience, but they are barely older than college students, so I can't really be that hard on them. I recommend living in Warehouse regardless of management issues because it is still the closest apartment building to campus within a college student's budget (600-800 standard 4 BR), and the building is quite modern with exposed pipes/brick and an industrial chic feel. I am not concerned that Warehouse will continue to keep up its quality, simply even because of the other apartments popping up in the area. Those buildings, such as the new and impressive Shortbread Lofts, though much more expensive, are newer, larger, and are known to have faster internet, etc. Warehouse will continue to compete.
