Property Ratings at The Westbrook Apartments
The Westbrook was formerly a hotel and has a really cool vibe about it. The rooftop has an amazing view and you are within walking distance of several bars and restaurants, not to mention the new home of the UB Jacobs School of Medicine and also John Oishei Children's Hospital and Buffalo General Hospital if you are a Med School student or doing a Residency here. The management is amazing and onsite throughout the day! They are also very prompt to take care of any maintenance issues. Security here includes cameras throughout the common areas, and only residents can access the building. For visitors, you can "ring" the room from an outer entrance to ask them to buzz you in. Your rent includes ALL utilities, except Internet, which is a huge PLUS especially since the rent is very affordable! The bedrooms are quite large for what you pay, and the overall living and storage space. It has been a great experience living here!!
I live in the Westbrook Apartments in Buffalo, NY. My boyfriend and I moved in at a great time, summer of 2013 -- apartments were actually available then! I understand there's currently a waitlist. Buffalo is in the middle of what people are calling a "renaissance," there's a lot going on in Buffalo nowadays, and the city is developing rapidly. The Westbrook's roof has (in my opinion) one of the best views of downtown Buffalo, and its location is walking distance to a hub of bars and restaurants, as well as quick ride to the waterfront (via bike or car). Although it's a bit behind the times where renovations are concerned (no air conditioning or updated kitchen appliances... smoking is still allowed in the building which literally stinks for a non-smoker), the Westbrook staff is very timely when it comes to repairs or anything concerning your apartment. Also, because the building isn't updated, it gives a very cool old-school vibe that you can't match in modern apartments (was a hotel in the 20's, still equipped with a mail chute on each floor that drops into a bigger, locked box on the main floor). Wooden floors are a bonus, as are huge windows, lots of closet space, and thick walls so you don't hear your neighbors. The Westbrook community is really friendly and diverse. The space itself is a bang for your buck!
