Uptown is where renters choose to live if they love entertainment. Throughout the neighborhood you’ll find everything from walking tours highlighting the hangouts of Chicago gangsters to the city's hottest nightclubs and theaters to the best shops and restaurants around. Uptown Chicago stretches along Lake Michigan and includes the popular summer hotspot Montrose Beach. For those moving to Chicago with a pet, Montrose Dog Beach is also a very popular destination. In winter, Cricket Hill is one of the city's favorite sledding spots.
What is it like to live in Uptown? It’s historic, walkable, and distinctive. Uptown is home to some fantastic landmarks, such as Aragon Ballroom. The ballroom opened in 1926, and legends about secret tunnels and Al Capone abound. During the Big Band era, the ballroom hosted some of the biggest names in music, including Glenn Miller, Lawrence Welk, Guy Lombardo, Benny Goodman, and Duke Ellington.

Property Ratings at The Winnie
There is no parking. My lease outlines it, yet management refuses to offer it, and they continue to deflect my concerns. I emailed my leasing agent about this, but he forwarded my email to multiple other employees for them to all berate me over this. Avoid at all costs.

Currently here and so ready to move! Firstly, during our tour we were stressed the fact we wouldn't be able to hear the trains, but we can. The huge windows are gorgeous, but other than that it's blah.
Property Manager at The Winnie, Responded To This Review
Hello, we're sorry to hear your experience has not been pleasant. We understand that the proximity to the train may be a disturbance, but you do have options to transfer to another apartment within the community or a sister community if interested. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our management team at winniemgmt@flatslife.com if you have any complaints or concerns, and we'd be happy to assist you.
I do not recommend The Winnie. I have been here three months and i'm already looking to move. The elevator is currently broken with no ETA for repair. The key fobs only work on certain doors, parking is a nightmare as there is only street permit parking, even though there is a parking garage in the building no one is allowed to use. If you have packages delivered, good luck finding them as the carriers leave them in various parts of the building...sometimes outside!
