Property Ratings at The Woodlands of Crest Hill
Wish 0 stars was an option. Overall awful experience and have no idea how someone could enjoy living here. They do not care about the residents, only about taking your money. The area is convenient to get places but not a very safe area or community.
Moved out on time and followed all steps in lease for move out then sent to collections for not turning in keys (which I did) and for not moving out on time (which I actually moved out a week before I had to). Was told over the phone, in emails, and on a voicemail by account manager who was there in April 2021 that they would fix the issue and they never did. Now there is a new manager who will not return my phone calls or emails. Very shady and poor business practices, also complex was very dirty which is why I didn't renew.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We're very sorry to hear you had a disappointing experience. Customer happiness is important to us and we hope you will give us another chance in the future. Sincerely, Debbie L Community Manager
This place is awful. Snakes, Loud neighbors, tenants beating people up, two murders this year! One just a month or so ago! Pool fees like slime, when it is clean they want to close it early. Workers DO NOT check pool passes so there are ALWAYS people that don't live here in the pool area. I have requested the BBQ area a few times and someone ALWAYS takes my spot. Cops always around a good and bad thing. Incompetent workers in office. When mail was in the business office when COVID started the workers were too lazy to check the mail so people were stealing. This is the third Leasing manager we have had in two years since I've been here. I think they all have nervous breakdowns and quit. When I move this year I will tell more. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! There are BETTER places for your buck then to deal with this place!
A water main broke in my apartment. When i came home from work the carpet was cut and lifted to fit 3 industrial size fans to dry the soaked carpet. was offered no hotel stay for 2 weeks, threw away many wet items. The day after move out (after 4 years of on time rent!) was the only day I could complete a thorough walk through with maintenance, and 1 week later, I received a bill in the mail for miscelaneous "damages". Never again!

Would give 0 stars if I could. Too many issues... the most pertinent one was that there was a murder in front of one of the complexes and was not informed. They are more concerned with residents leaving bagged dog poop than a loss of a human life. Entrance door was broken, informed them on a Friday, was told no one could Could come and fix it until Monday morning, this means that anyone could have entered are building uninvited posing a serious security risk. Hot water was not working for 3 days was told they can't do anything about it. Kitchen faucet was broken, was Told to wash the dishes in the bath tub to do all my cooking using the bathtub/ bathroom sink faucet. Bathroom got flooded because of work done above us, had to wait a few days to fix the hole in our ceiling, when maintenance had to come in, they force us to lock our children (pets) away. Counter space in kitchen is abysmal. Still have to give 60 days notice of moving out even if lease is up. New places won't hold an apartment for more than a month, so the 60day notice usually forces people to resign or cough up more money to move out. Signs say pet friendly but have to pay monthly have pets, not to mention having to pay a one time 200 fee.

If I could give ZERO stars, I would. Don't be fooled by the office or model units. The rest of this place was a DUMP! I asked for a non-smoking, pet-free building, and neither of those conditions were enforced. I called the police twice to report criminal property damage. Also, the management and office staff were consistently dismissive of my concerns. The renovations look like they were done by a small child. The neighbors were obnoxiously loud at all hours. The bathroom smelled like an open sewer. The mineral build up from the hard water ruined a number of my belongings. Overall, I deeply regret the decision to live at the Woodlands and feel deceived from my initial impression. If you're thinking about moving in, don't. And if you're already living there, I'm so sorry!
The community is awesome, office staff friendly, and nice apartments.

This place has been the worst. The water goes from boiling hot to cold to boiling hot no matter what you do. We requested a service and they said there is nothing they could do as the pipes are connected. Your skin will burn! The portal went down and they promised to call back for an update. 2 days later, the rent is due, no phone call from anyone! Email sent and phone calls were made by us, but they do not answer their phones either! DO NOT RENT HERE!
Be aware and be informed and make a conscious decision to move here. Do research about the community the area and building you're moving into. We moved here May of 2017 and have had to put I'm 20 work orders for apartment. We've had broken air conditioning 80% or the summer and broken heater, dish washer , leak in ceiling, broken mail box 3 times and the list goes on. They do make an effort to try to fix things but you really have to bug management. Buildings are supposed to be smoke free but my entire front room smells of cigarettes and i have a small infant. We would have never signed the lease if buildings were still allowing smokers. Before moving in just be aware , ask questions get definite answers, drive around at night and day get a feel Of the community and read reviews on apartment.com and other sights . The apartments are "remodeled " but the buildings underneath the piled on pant and tub overlays are old . I would also suggest if you have small children getting an air purifier and humidifier as I'm quite sure there's mold and low air quality .
While it's very tolerant of pets, have a community pool and exercise facilities for residents that's all. The appliances are outdated, paint is cheap (which makes it hard to clean the walls)and poorly done and the maintenance is a joke. I have been waiting for 5 months for them to fix my bathroom vanity. Heat is produced by the boiler so you have no control over it. Worst is the shower, it is shared by the whole unit (about ten in our section)and the temperature fluctuates. Some times you get ice cold, or scalding hot and sometimes you may get it perfect. Wouldn't recommend to anybody.
While I agree the office staff is mostly friendly and maintenance does a good job... after that just waiting for the lease to end. We were told we were getting a refurbished apartment. What we got instead was a garden apartment with screens that do not fit and have gaps which makes opening a window very unpleasant since you have no idea what will come in. Bees, flies, beetles etc. New blinds but holes from old blinds not even covered. I was told they don't fill in the old ones... guess what? That means we don't have to. Walls and baseboards that have more coats of paint than you can imagine. Cabinets that may have new doors (that fall off regularly) on old cabinets (repainted) with holes on the sides from being previously hung. A floor in the kitchen that has a hole in front of the dishwasher that we were told would be fixed... 5 months and still waiting. Closets with no lights, hanger poles and wire shelving that is yellow and sticky. (Only about 12" in bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, it may have new sink faucet and light fixture and vanity but that is where it ends. Old sink and the tub has chips and rust, shower head old along with the tub faucet, and the tub surround is a tile looking one that has been horribly fitted. Doors to bedrooms do not close bathroom closes but just a slight nudge opens it. Good thing we are too embarrassed to have guests. Security doors that are never locked, hallways with stained and sticky carpets and walls. Insufficient lighting in the parking lot, 2 small dumpsters for approximately 30 apartments, the awnings over entry doors mostly torn and faded. I have no disposal but I do have someone's water back up in my kitchen sink. No ceiling fans. Electrical outlets few. Have not gone to laundry facility since I have to go out the "security" entrance to the other end of the building so we just go to the Laundromat down the block. Monthly activities... there have been 2 since we got here 4 months ago, each about 2 hours long. We had to clean the apartment before we moved in since we had sawdust in the kitchen cabinets, dirt on the floors and rent a storage unit since the storage space is non-existent and cabinet space is very limited. Add that to your monthly rent. If you get home early enough you will have parking. If you get home after 10 pm it will be to the back of the buildings and garages and walk by the dumpsters, raccoons, possum and skunks dining. Affordable? Yes. Home? Not so much.
I moved in my lower level apt. Dec. 20, 2013. Mid-January 2014 I came home from staying with a friend the night before, and found 4 big blowers that weren't running (blown fuses) and wet carpet and my furniture moved around. There had be pipes burst next door and I was told there was 2 inches of water in my apartment. I have since had water in living room (foundation leaking) and the water heater broke another time flooding my dining area. I had a leak in bathroom ceiling (which I reported July 2014) and they finally fixed 5 weeks ago, which involved 2 days with no water (for the whole building) and workers in my apt. 10 hours both days. when they removed the drywall there was black mold everywhere, which explained issues I had been dealing regarding my health. Itchy rashes, burning watery eyes (affecting sight), unusual coughing and railed breathing at night. Management has been putting me off for 1 1/2 yrs. City of Crest Building inspector has been here twice......no one cares about this human!
Beautiful grass Land area for nice walks or just to gaze outside every morning. Wonderful community with lots to do, which include: swimming (my favorite), workout center and of course business center for all your business needs. So I no longer need to have a expensive membership at a gym or go to a far beach to enjoy soaking up the sun. Overall great place for young and old.
My apartment is cozy and small. I would love to win free rent for a year because my husband and I are about to have our first child soon. We pay 745.00 per month . I would love to have this opportunity for a year. It would a true blessing ! We would be able to pay other bills .
The complex itself its very nice and well maintained, the girls at the office - helpful, never had any issues with that, maintenance guys do their job as well, but they still have to work on their water quality, my kitchen and bath sinks get rusty water from time to time ...
The woodlands of crest hill is a wonderful apartment complex located in crest hill. Its offer ranges from studio to a two bedroom apartment. There is also an exercise room, swimming pool and business center in the office.
The grounds for the Woodlands is a pleasant surprise for this complex just north of Joliet. Soft rolling hills with natural trees makes for a nice visual presentation of the buildings. That is where the eye needs to start looking more closely. Some apartments are being refurbished but many are still in kind of rough shape. Our building has a huge drainage problem, after any rain it is impossible to enter the building without wading the moat. Security doors have been left hanging open by one hinge for weeks at a time. The utility bills have varied from $40 to $130 in the year I have been here. Combined with the Woodlands extra charges outside of rent you can easily pay 1/4 to 1/3 more than your rent monthly. On the good side the staff is helpful, when AT&T cut a power line our entire building was without power for 4 days but The Woodlands provided a trailer generator to power the building until Com Ed could effect repairs. Combined with a nice pool, weight room and common / meeting space the office area is very nice. If property is all about location than this is another huge benefit. The Woodlands are secluded enough to be very quiet at night but well placed to all kinds of shopping, highways and eateries. There are 4 grocery stores within 2 miles. The Woodlands is a nice studio -2 bedroom complex with some aging buildings but a staff that seems to say they care about the community and hopefully renovations will address some negatives.
I Moved IN Here October of 2014 and I cannot wait for my lease to be up. While there are some nice people in the office it still has not been the best experience. Seems like you have to escalate every issue to management if you really want anything done. When I first moved in I had a 3 month issue with getting consistent hot water and it was dead winter. The heat was not working either and I kept getting the run around saying it was the boiler. Then I had an issue for 3 weeks where my kitchen would just flood at night and they had no answers as to why this was happening. I had two incidents where my mom's car was towed and my boyfriends car and after the fact was told that there is visitors parking but in the lease it states that you need a parking pass and when my mom came it was like 1am so I couldn't get a pass so when her car was towed I was angry and that's when they told me they could draw me a map for visitors parking. There Are No Signs So When my boyfriend came he parked in what I was told was vistors parking and turns out the tow company had a completely different map so his car was towed too. The experiences I have had here have not been great and I honestly cannot wait until my lease is up. When I first moved in I wasn't even given a walk through. I was handed a piece of paper and told to do the walk through myself and just check off what's wrong in the apartment. Just not good. You will find some people who care kn the front office but unfortunately my experience here has been a nightmare.
This complex has a lot of highs & lows. New management every three years. Currently under BH Management. Positives- current maintenance are good people, Terry in the front office is sweet, & the pool is nice Opportunities- poor construction & things break out need repair often.
