Located about five miles northeast of Downtown Tallahassee, Killearn includes Lake Killarney and is made up of several subdivisions, including Killearn Estates and Killearn Acres. Residents enjoy fast access to downtown while being surrounded by beautiful parks, miles of horseback riding and hiking trails, and several lakes. As the first planned community in Tallahassee Killearn was formed in 1964, when it was purchased by developers. Before that, the area was a large dairy farm. The Alfred B. Maclay Gardens State Park borders the neighborhood, offering manicured gardens, hiking and biking trails, a reflection pool, and Lake Hall for fishing, swimming, and kayaking.

Property Ratings at The Woods of Killearn
The Woods is situated in a very quiet, peaceful community, close to shopping and great for walking. Debbie and the maintenance staff are just wonderful, helpful and very professional. The apt. is spacious, very clean and the grounds are well maintained. Maintenance service is outstanding and will take care of any request in a timely manner. I live here for a number of years and glad to call The Woods home.
Found this place very dog friendly, including a a dog play area. Pool very well kept and a very friendly environment. Staff very accommodating and grounds very well maintained.Apartments are lovely and spacious. If I become a snowbird this would be my number one choice.
This is a wonderful place to live. I have lived here for over two years and plan to stay a lot longer. The management is excellent and very ethical. Any request for repair is handled immediately. Shortly after I moved in, the AC broke and a new unit was installed within the week. Debbie is the manager and responds quickly and honestly to any and all requests, complaints, and suggestions. The grounds are well-maintained and the area is safe.
I lived here for two years, and I couldn't have been happier with my decision. From the moment I moved in, I was impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of Debbie. She made the transition smooth and stress-free. My one-bedroom apartment was spacious, modern, and well-maintained. It truly felt like a home, not just a temporary living space. The location is another major plus. Situated in a vibrant neighborhood with easy access to shops, restaurants, and parks, it offers the perfect blend of convenience and tranquility. Overall, I highly recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable, stylish, and welcoming place to live.
My lease is up, and I am returning to South Florida, but leaving Woods of Killearn, where I've lived for over a year now, will be sad. I love the convenient location in Killearn, the woodsy paths on which I walk my little chihuahua four times a day, watching the kids enjoy themselves at the playground after school and on weekends, and the pretty view of the pond on the property. The complex is quiet and my neighbors are pleasant. Debbie, the manager, is super helpful and efficient. Apartments are spacious and newly renovated, and the rent is reasonable. I recommend Woods of Killearn without reservation! Thanks for a great year!
This is the only apartment complex I’ve lived in that feels like home! It is in the BEST location, best school zone, has an amazing community feel, the maintenance crew is always awesome, and the property manager, Debbie, genuinely cares for your families needs! Our family is unfortunately relocating for work and Debbie has been amazing to work with. I reccomend the woods of killearn to anyone!
It is with regret that I am leaving Tallahassee and The Woods of Killearn but life has a way of changing our best laid plans. I have enjoyed my one bedroom apartment. It is more spacious than many of the newer properties available. I is in a quiet safe neighborhood with easy access to shopping, restaurants, and entertainment. When I have had a maintenance problem, the response has been both timely and efficient. I am pleased to recommend The Woods of Killearn to my friends and others.
We love The Woods of Killearn! We loved there in 2015-2016 and we are moving back! It wasnShamrock Villiage before, but the managers stayed the same. Ms. Debbie remembered us when we came in and was excited about us returning. The apartments are HUGE for the price, especially considering it is in Killearn, water is included, and the renovations the recently took place. I'm so happy my family is getting to call it home again!
I have been living at The Woods of Killearn for some time now. I have one of the three bedroom models. Compared to other apartments at similar prices, The Woods are much larger. The three bedrooms have a laundry room. The owners have been remodeling the buildings. A new playground was built. You are close to major shopping centers. Publix is just two miles away. Fresh Market is across the street from Publix. Trader Joe's is in the same area, and Whole Foods is just a few minuets south. Walmart, and Target just a few minuets north. You are close to downtown Tallahassee. I am retired now, but when working, my job was only twelve miles away. The management team is great. They have a caring attitude about the complex. This is a fine place to live. I highly recommend it.
I was recently there to visit my Cousin. What a beautiful community, The apartment was very cozy. Also the grounds were beautiful. The Manager was very welcoming to me and showed me many great destinations to go to. Great place great time cant wait to go back. Sharon Gifford
I absolutely LOVE this apartment. They were built in the 70s, so don't expect stainless appliances, vaulted ceilings, etc. but they are huge, well laid out (my 1/1 is 935 sq. ft), and very reasonable as far as pricing is concerned. The complex is in the middle of Killearn, one of the nicer areas of Tallahassee, and is within 5 minutes of I-10 and all of the stores and restaurants on Thomasville Rd. The complex is run by a husband and wife who are very nice and always responsive to maintenance requests or any other issues. The office opens pretty early, 8am, and if that doesn't work with your schedule they have a drop box for your rent check. The only downside is that some of the 1/1's don't have a washer/dryer in the apartment. However, they do have a laundry facility (as well as pool and 24hr gym) on-site.
One of the few complexes in town that doesn't cater so much to the college crowd. Although large, with several buildings featuring everything from affordable one bedrooms to townhouses, it's quiet with most of the residents being families and retirees. That should not being surprising as the district features A rated schools and the school bus comes stops right at the entrance. Amenities include a quiet green space with duck pond, community room, seasonal pool l, laundry and small fitness area. It is also one of the places which allows pets, with pet deposit. Shopping, restaurants and the interstate are within a 10 minute drive. Residents here are generally friendly and quiet surrounded by a friendly and quiet neighborhood.
