Portland has a reputation as a quirky and unique community, and Downtown absolutely matches that description. The local population represents a patchwork quilt of backgrounds—a stroll down any given street will likely involve seeing buttoned-up corporate professionals, bohemian artists, and everything in between. The result is a wild menagerie of sophisticated urban amenities, beautifully preserved history, original art, and the inimitably laid-back Pacific Northwest personality.
The relatively compact layout makes this part of town excellent for pedestrians and cyclists, with relatively small city blocks housing businesses and apartments in very close proximity to one another. The city’s experimental spirit influences virtually every aspect of Downtown, from the meticulous craft found in the local coffeehouses, restaurants, and cocktail bars to the thriving art and music scene to the often-iconoclastic style that many locals embrace.

Property Ratings at The Yards at Union Station
Absolutely the worst. Towing policy is no warning. Fire alarms go off at least once 1 week weed+cooking. Homeless make the area unsafe, orders stolen.
Living here has actually been pretty decent. There is a parking garage that costs $130 a month, which is a lot of money, but reasonable for the area. Recently, my car broke down. While in the shop, I got a loaner car from the dealership. On the back and sides, it has large decals stating the dealership that it’s from, and “Courtesy Loaner Vehicle”. Spoke with the leasing office that I would be parking it in my space, they said it wouldn’t be a problem. I came home to no car, to find it was towed by the towing company that the apartment contracts with. $339 tow bill, management not willing to help. Predatory tow company, sketchy management, wouldn’t recommend.

We are sorry you've had this poor experience with us. Towing is always a difficult balance to strike between making sure that parking is available to people who pay for it/keeping our parking area secure, and on the other hand serving the needs of our tenants and being accommodating to requests. Unfortunately, in the downtown area this balance is even more difficult to keep up with the unique challenges that living in a high density, high traffic part of the city bring. For a long time now, our policy has been to have our towing company immediately tow any vehicle without a proper permit. If this was not communicated to you well enough, we are sorry and will re-double our efforts to do so going forward with situations like your own. There are no exceptions, though; and both the lease paperwork that is signed to obtain a parking space, and the signage posted every 25 feet throughout our parking facilities clearly say that it is permit parking only, and that violators are subject to tow without notice. If you would like to discuss the particulars of your situation more in depth, I invite you to call us at 503-478-1695, or stop by in person anytime we are open.
This website won’t let me go into specifics. But trust me, you don’t want to live here.

We are sorry you feel badly about your experience with us. Please contact our office at 503-478-1695, or stop by in person anytime to discuss what we can do to make amends for whatever your problem might have been.
If you enjoy 24/7 break-in’s, constant suicides/deaths, drug dealers, syringes EVERYWHERE, sex in the elevators and SO MUCH more unsightly/hideous conditions, this is the place for you.

We are sorry to hear you feel badly about your experience here. We've done a lot of hard work to address the types of concerns you have in the past couple years, including the installation of dozens of surveillance cameras, perimeter fencing, we've hired an excellent security firm that works closely with local law enforcement to kick people off the property who cause problems and keep them off. We have upgraded our flooring, made major renovations and painted everywhere, and more!
Property Manager at The Yards at Union Station, Responded To This Review
Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns. In the past couple years we have been making a major push to address the issues you raised, from hiring a new security firm, installing over 60 additional surveillance cameras and overhauling our secure building system to re-doing the flooring and walls in the halls, taking a more aggressive stance toward violations and more. We hope to make your stay with us a pleasant one, so we encourage you to bring up your concerns directly to our office staff and give us a chance to do something about them in specific. Thank you!
this building is located in the center of Oldtown/Chinatown. The apartment I currently occupy is the 5th floor. This particular apartment has wonderful views of the broadway bridge, and NW side of Portland. It's a very easy walk to both max lines, Gr/Yw & Rd/Bl, buses are easy to access as well. Burnside is a 7 min walk, so it the Portland Saturday Market. The bar scene and club scene is amazing. Perfect apartment for the night owl. I love this apartment.

Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate you taking the time to let people know what you love about living here!
If you love Portland then this is where you want to be! If you want to go into the heart of downtown just walk across the street and you are at the max line. If you want to relax and enjoy the pearl district or go to NW 23rd? Walk four blocks from the max and the street car stop is near by. The best part about this place is the water front. Just 2 minutes and you are there and you can just walk, run, or even ride your bike across the massive loop. The unwind on the rooftop patios enjoying the scenery that is Downtown Portland.

Thank you for sharing your positive feedback. We work hard to make The Yards at Union Station a great place to live and it's always good to learn our efforts are worth it to our valued residents!
The rent does not burgeon every year; but, the leasing staff is snotty and unhelpful. Rules keep accumulating, often times they are ridiculous. The train station is right by the apartments, so be prepared for train whistles. I have gotten used to it. Security is a little lackadaisical and non-existent. It is not terrible, but not excellent. Be wary of the elevators connecting to the sky bridge bringing you to the north and south sides. There are some shady characters in them.
Property Manager at The Yards at Union Station, Responded To This Review
We are sorry you feel badly about your experience with our leasing staff. Since you left your review, we have an entirely new leasing staff with a renewed commitment to providing excellent customer service and a great place to live. Train whistles are indeed a part of living near the station; most of our residents, like yourself, do get used to them or even enjoy the sound. Since leaving your review, we've hired a new security firm that engages in a pro-active, community-based patrol and responsive services ranging from trespassing problem characters to even arresting and coordinating with local law enforcement on the removal of persons who violate our rules regularly. The exterior elevators are a challenge, and the one we are in charge of on our side we have made a priority to regularly check in our security and maintenance rounds. We've found this helps to minimize the problems there, even so it is a public right of way and we have only limited ability to fully control this particular area. Thanks again for your feedback as we are always eager to know how we can improve.

We always welcome your feedback; please feel free to stop by the leasing office anytime or call to voice your concerns and we will do what we can to make your stay with us more pleasant. Thank you!
