Property Ratings at Thornridge Apartments
Thornridge Apartments is by far not a "LUXURY APARTMENT " as they claim to be. We have lived in Apartments before. Our last one was in Tennesee for 2 years we had to make 1 call for maintenance.. At Thornridge we have been here a little over 3 months and have had to have them out many times for 13 different problems. The bathroom was disgusting. I had to clean it after they supposedly cleaned it. When i mentioned it to M****** she said nothing not even an apology. The leasing office is rude and not at all honest. We had put 2 hanging baskets on hooks that were already in place outside on the deck above which we got a call saying that is a violation of things you can not do. When we asked why they said the bugs in the planters will destroy the wood. There were other apartments that had hanging baskets and porch rail planters and were not told to take them down. You can hear every step coming from the apartment above along with the toilet flushing and shower running. I was called and told to move my car because it was in a reserved spot which is not signed properly, the sign was placed in front of the parking spot next to the one I was parked in. The excuse E**** gave me was because of the sidewaIk they could not place it in front of the actual reserved spot. These Apartments are not worth what they charge for rent. It's just too bad you don’t find out these issues before you move in. Now our neighbor is having a lot of the same issues as we have and the office does not care.
We have had many problems with this place. I had to re-clean especially the bathroom. You can hear every foot step above us. The sink running and toilet from above apartment and side apartments, the shower being used in both. We had hanging flower pots that we put on hooks that were already in place. We were told we had to remove them even though there were other residence that had them up the entire summer plus there were residence that had porch rail planters that are probrably worse than hanging baskets since the excuse the complex told us was because of the bugs that eat wood. Then today I recieved a call from the office and was told I needed to move my car. Was told it was a reserved spot for 9*** The sign is in front of the parking space next to where I parked but some how the sign was not for the spot I purposely didn't not park in due to the signs placement. The sign needs to be moved from in front of the wrong parking spot or designate the spot that the sign is in front of as the spot for 9***.
I moved here a couple of months ago and have had several issues with management and maintenance already. This place was rated 4.6/5 stars but most of its reviews are over 5-7 yrs ago. Apparently management changed and since then, it's been downhill. Our upstairs neighbor moved out and they were updating and cleaning the unit. When they cleaned the air vent (whose opening faces our patio), everything that came out fell in our patio and they never cleaned it. They removed the rugs and threw it out the balcony, which again fell into ours, and they only removed the big pieces, so now my patio is full of small pieces of rug from upstairs. They were updating the back entrance to the building, they scrapped off paint from the wood to repaint and left it there. My apartment is the first one to that entrance so of course I got all the paint scrappings in my patio. I've had to clean all their mess and I'm tired of it.

We apologize for the issue that you encountered. Management of our community has never changed. The company that built our community still manages it today. We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss these issues with you in an attempt to resolve them. Would you kindly call our Property Manager? Thank you.
I work night shifts as a doctor in the ICU at a local hospital. I need to be able to sleep during the day obviously so I put up black-out blinds. A few days later I received a call saying I needed to take them down. Obviously I left them up seeing as how I need to be able to sleep during the day. I was then fined $25 (which I didn't mind paying honestly). The note on the fine stated that I need to put up "white backed window coverings". So I bought white backed window covering black-out blinds to comply with their written rule. I received a call from management saying that the blinds (that meet their written specification) were against that rule and had to be replaced. I asked for an explanation and was subsequently threatened with EVICTION if I did not remove them so their dollar-store quality plastic blinds were visible. Lease is up in 2 months and cannot wait to move.

We are saddened to read your review about our community. We provide blinds for all apartments and require that they are kept installed for a clean and uniformed appearance. Our residents may install any color curtains on the inside of blinds to create greater room darkening while not changing the appearance from the outside. Please reach out to the Leasing Office if you have any further concerns. Thank you.
I’ve lived here almost 4 months and I am happy with my decision to move in. Maintenance responds quickly to requests, whether it’s a regular request or an emergency. They are friendly and pleasant to work with! When it snows, I see the staff respond quickly to plowing the parking lot when it’s safe for them to get out and do so. Recently my pet died, and when I contacted the office about removing the monthly pet rent fee for the next month’s rent, they got back to me that same day. I appreciated it in my grief. I’ve enjoyed living here so far!

We are happy that you have enjoyed your new home at Thornridge Apartments! We are sorry for your loss. Thank you for posting your review of our community.
They took half of my deposit when I moved out because the floor was slightly discolored near the shower. They stated it was due to water damage. The flooring is cheap and not fit for bathrooms! Not my fault that they didn’t install quality flooring. Wouldn’t recommend this place! Don’t waste your time!!! I wish I could upload the photos.

Thank you for your review of Thornridge Apartments. Residents are provided with a checklist when they move in to document any pre-existing damages in the apartment. Any damages that are caused during the new resident's residency, therefore not recorded on the checklist, will be chargeable to the resident moving out. We invite you to contact us if you have any questions or would like to discuss this further. We are saddened that this has negatively impacted your opinion of our community.
If you are looking to rent apartment 15109 here are the things I have come across while living here: 1. There are bugs in there, EVERY SINGLE DAY 2. The window in the living room will get water damage 3. The bedroom and bathroom doors do not latch 4. The dryer does not dry your clothes, you will need to run them through multiple cycles 5. The toilet will get water damage around it, it also runs forever after you flush 6. The shower does not drain well at all, we had to use drain cleaner twice in the year we lived there for a two person household 7. The blinds in the living room are broke about 90% of the time, you will have to fix them a lot 8. Just about anything will set off the smoke detector 9. The sun rises and shines directly into your bedroom window, it does not matter if you have the best blackout curtains on the market 10. The windows are at eye level to the parking lot, meaning people’s headlights shine right into your apartment

Thank you for your review. We are disappointed to see your frustration with the apartment you resided in.We will check on the items you mentioned to ensure that they have been repaired. Please feel free to contact the Property Manager if you would like to further discuss any of the issues you documented.
Very quick response times from the leasing office. The buildings are easily accessible, and cheap for what you are getting. Close enough to food, grocery, etc. There Is two bars within walking distance and a third just 5min drive away. The only knock I would have is that going for a bike ride or a run is challenging as this complex isn’t in a “residential neighbourhood” but off two heavily trafficked roads. That is being nit picky though, it was safe, never felt threatened or at risk of any theft. I moved out because I’m not from the area and only work in flint 6-7 months of the year, so when I return next to work I will without a doubt be moving in to Thornridge!

We are so glad that you enjoyed your time living at Thornridge Apartments. Thank you for taking the time to post your review!
I regret moving in here. I don't like any of the management staff, they're all on different pages and when they say they'll call you back, they don't. My rent has increased the second year of being here even though I already pay the highest rent they have. I'm not allowed to do anything to my apartment to make it accommodating for me and my family. I had to call corporate just to get permission to use a baby gate. Their grills suck and you can't have your own even if you're on the bottom floor, I can constantly hear my neighbors above me stomping on the floor and coming down the stairs. They can't help you involving people stealing your parking on weekends. They don't do pretty much anything for anyone.

We are sorry that you've had a negative impression of Thornridge Apartments. We invite you to contact the Property Manager to discuss these issues so we can hopefully come to a better understanding. Some of your issues are specific to you and without know who you are, we are unable to address them in this forum. We can tell you that we enforce the local ordinance regarding the use of grills. This is not our rule; it is a governmental regulation. We truly would like to help you with these items, so we hope you will contact us. Thank you!
New management has ruined this property. Rent goes up literally every year while the integrity and value of the apartment goes down. I truly believe any good review of this apartment complex is/was made by one of their staff members. Don’t be fooled. This place is terrible.
Property Manager at Thornridge Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for reviewing Thornridge Apartments. We are saddened that you have this opinion of Thornridge. The management/ownership has not changed. We are the same company managing Thornridge who originally built Thornridge. You will find that most apartment communities adjust rents annually, and our rental rates are analyzed quarterly to ensure that we stay competitive in our market. Please contact our Property Manager to discuss what you believe to be the cause of the declining integrity of apartment, as you stated. We would very much like to address any issues that you may have in your apartment. Thank you.
Office staff is rude and lazy. Maintenance staff is incompetent. The lawn is very well maintained but the buildings are not. Windows and ceilings leak beyond repair, furnaces go out during the coldest time of year and maintenance never have the parts to repair them. I’ve had many friends move in just to move out and Thornridge always finds a way to try to keep your deposit. Don’t waste your time.
Property Manager at Thornridge Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your review of Thornridge Apartments. We would appreciate it if you would notify the office immediately if there is a ceiling or window leak. Unreported leaks can cause further damage to the apartment, which is something we would like to avoid. Our maintenance team have many furnace parts in stock for routine repairs, but there may be an occasion when they are not available or on back order, We apologize if you have had a situation that we could not address as promptly as we would like to because of this. Please contact the Property Manager if you would like to discuss any of this in more detail. Thank you.
I lived there with my dog for 3 years - I only moved for my job. This is a very inexpensive, safe, clean place to live. I came from an apartment that had bugs so I was always paranoid. I never had a single bug except a spider maybe twice in three years. The apartment office staff is great and although I didn’t need much when I did their maintenance team was all over it. My key stopped working and they were there in 3 minutes. My dryer stopped working and I had a new one in a week. Very nice people. Highly recommend!
Property Manager at Thornridge Apartments, Responded To This Review
Dear valued resident, thank you kindly for your review!
Maintenance is horrible. Very inconsiderate. No communication. We have lived here for 9 years. We have only needed to call maintenance a few times and each time we had to call back to have the problems fixed. Rent goes up $50 every year when it's time to renew your lease... dont know where that money is going. Rules are not enforced..... there is to be no smoking 30 feet from the building and yet our building smells of weed nonstop. We have to hold our breath just trying to get into our apartment. Our balcony was falling apart and it took them 3 different times to come and fix and paint it. There is still some rotting wood but I dont feel as though I'm gonna fall through it now. So it's just an okay place to live as long as you do not need anything fixed. Especially on the weekends. If it falls on a weekend you are out of luck..
Property Manager at Thornridge Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for your review. When someone renews their lease for 9 years, we trust that they are doing so because they are satisfied with their home and our quality of service. We see that is not your case. Our maintenance team addresses issues as they are reported, and likewise we will address any concerns that are brought to our attention regarding maintenance or anything else at Thornridge. We understand your frustration with rent increases, but we can assure you that we research the surrounding market to provide fair and accurate rental rates. Sometimes there is a nominal increase of $5 or $10 to a larger increase, but there is no apartment where we have implemented a $50 increase every year. We encourage you to reach out to our Property Manager to discuss these concerns. By working together we hope to resolve these issues and restore your faith in us.
I was a tenant at Thornridge Apartments 9 years ago. I wanted to write a review as I am now searching for an apartment for my girlfriend that will likely be moving to the Grand Blanc area in future, and have been combing through reviews for multiple apartment complexes. It was my first experience renting and being on my own. When I first went to review their units and ask about pricing I was greeted warmly, and everyone if in the office was pleasant to speak with. I was young and broke at the time, and asked for pricing for the least expensive unit, and was even given a discount for that unit because it was a basement unit that has approx 10sq/ft less space because of the building utility closet was in the main hallway. My neighbors were pleasant, and had maybe one negative experience with them for the 2 years I rented there (some jerk messed with my clothes in the laundry room). I was very young and quite broke at the time, and probably paid my rent late every other month. Even during those time periods when my rent was behind, maintenance responded promptly to my request and the office workers treated me respectfully. I honestly think they waived some of the lates fees for me as well, and I worked in manufacturing at the time so when I moved out there was defintely some significant discoloration to the carpet around the door yet I received my entire depost when I moved out(I cant garantee your experience will be the same, as opportunites like this are contigent on your ability to build relationships). The parking area was always plowed during the winter, and despite leaving for work at 530am every day I cannot recall a time that I could not easily gt out fo the complex. The grounds were always well taken care of. The lawn mowed and trimmed. Flowers planted throughout the common area. It seems as though they have done some landscaping and added a small dog park since I was a tenant as well. I set high expectations for anything pertaining to my girlfriend(much higher than her own as she has simple tastes) and for a combination of affordability and service I do not think Thornridge can be beat. Its a high tier service combine with an above average property. The only reason I moved was because I had an opportunity to rent a house with my brother for half the price of my rent. 9 years later I am an engineer, looking for an apartment for my girlfriend, and Thornridge is at the top of my list.

Thank you for your kind and insightful review. We truly love what we do and creating an atmosphere that makes our residents proud to call Thornridge "home." We wish your girlfriend success with her apartment shopping.
I recently moved to Michigan with my 7 year old daughter and we love living here. It’s quiet, safe and she loves the pool. The rooms are very spacious and the closets are wonderful. We always have good parking and it’s just an overall positive atmosphere.

We are so pleased that you are enjoying your home at Thornridge Apartments! Our team works very hard to ensure a comfortable living conditions for our residents and are excited to know that we have succeeded with you! Thank you for posting your kind review!
My apartment is large and a quiet place. I love being close to the expressways and shopping. My unit has heat that is included and I have a washer and dryer that is so convenient for me. The staff in the office are helpful and friendly. Maintenance are respectful and timely and they perform routine inspections twice a year. The grounds are always well maintained since I have lived here and I am coming up on 5 years. We have beautiful safe grounds to walk and bike on and I frequently do both as well as others do in our complex. You don't feel like all the buildings are on top of each other there is room to live. You'll find people enjoying a game of volleyball or football on the lawn of even a game of cornhull. It is a great place to live and that's why I will continue to call it home.

Thank you so much for your kind review of Thornridge Apartments! We are excited that you are so happy living here!
U recently moved in 2 weeks ago. My air conditioning had problems thrice. Yesterday I called the emergency again. A guy came down to check. He said the AC compressor is not getting enough power. We may have to replace it. Unfortunately I don't have the licence to do that. The one with licence Is not coming in until Thursday. I spent today, July 4 th in an apartment with no ac in temp of about 85. They don't even care. Just avoid it. They fine you 50$ if u get late to pay the rent by 3 days. But I stayed in an apartment with no AC for over 5days since I joined here. Can't explain how frustrating this is.

I've enjoyed living at Thornridge, besides the maintenance issues I've had since day one of moving in. I have had a total of 11 maintenance issues since September of 2017. Many that had to do with HVAC and mold. They take their time coming to fix appliances, and most of the men don't do a great job. Lastly, the grass is always cut last at my building so it looks trashy. On the positive side, the community is quiet and the neighbors are kind, and the leasing office employees are great.
Thornridge is a great apartment complex to live in! The rooms are spacious enough, the office staff is helpful and friendly, the maintenance is attentive, and the grounds are well-kept. The rent is reasonable, the location is great (near I-475), and it is perfect for UM- Flint students. Highly recommend leasing at Thornridge! :)
I live in a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom with a washer/dryer. I have plenty of space and I love being able to do laundry in my apartment. Thornridge apartments are very pet friendly. They have a dog park which my dog loves. It is also a huge property so theres plenty of room to take my dog on walks. I haven't had any problems with noisy neighbors. The property is very quiet overall. The ladies in the rental office are very nice and helpful. The maintenance team is very professional. Overall I really like living here and I haven't had any problems at all!!
Thornridge Apartments is the nicest complex I have ever lived. I have lived here for four years and have never had a problem with noise. My television is about 10 feet from my front door. When the tv is on and I am in the hallway with the door closed, I can not hear the volume at all. The common hallways are clean and vacuumed regularly. I have a great view of a huge courtyard from my deck. The few times I have had a repair issue, maintenance has responded quickly. The complex is located just five minutes from two major highways. Overall, Thornridge is a great place to live.
I always envisioned what my first apartment would be like and it is just as great as I expected. The office staff is great as well as the maintenance staff. I have called maintenance a few times ( leaky faucet, problems with the washing machine) they have come to fix it really fast ( same day). I love taking my puppy Jax to "Molly's Run" (dog run). It has been a great way to get him socialized and I have the opportunity to talk with other renters. Overall, I love this place and I will most likely stay here until I am ready to buy a home.
