Flytown is a bustling urban neighborhood just minutes from Downtown Columbus. Diverse and distinctive, life in a Flytown apartment will provide ample opportunities to enjoy nightlife, sports events, historic sites, and a pedestrian- and bike-friendly neighborhood. Flytown was named because it seemed to appear out of nowhere. Homes "flew up" overnight in the mid-19th century as more and more residents came in search of work in the nearby factories.
Flytown neighbors the Arena District and Victorian Village, two other unique neighborhoods in the Columbus metro area. Tree-lined streets, historic architecture, and major events like concerts and sporting events surround Flytown. Goodale Park is known for its annual music festivals, while Nationwide Arena is a hotspot for professional hockey, big-name bands, and cultural events.

Property Ratings at Thurber Gate Apartments
Thurber Gate Apartments is a living nightmare. Management consistently breaks agreements, resulting in unexpected bills totaling $1400. On multiple occasions, I've received urgent calls about leaks requiring emergency entry, disrupting work, only to find no immediate action taken upon returning home. Vehicle break-ins are widespread, with management failing to implement any preventative measures. Save yourself the stress and seek housing elsewhere.

Management always fulfills all terms of our lease agreement. Our lease agreement requires residents to provide us with a 30-day notice to move out. We consistently follow up with our residents to remind them of their lease end date. You missed the deadline Alec and your rent increased to our month to month rate. Our lease agreement covers the fact that we are always going to protect our property as well as the property of our valued residents. If there was a leak into or coming from your home, it would be standard operation for us to follow up immediately and give our residents proper and required notice of entry. I’m glad to hear that after our maintenance team worked in your home, they didn’t leave any destruction or evidence of them ever being there by time you arrived home from work. Vehicle break ins are widespread throughout Central Ohio and beyond. Not specifically/only in our neighborhood. Local police reports are available online which support these facts. We value your feedback and will continue to strive to do our very best and keep our residents happy. Warm wishes to you in your new home Alec, thank you!!
I have lived in the Thurber apartments for about 6 months and have enjoyed my time here. The leasing office is very accommodating and quick to resolve issues. They continuously update areas as needed. It’s a great area to live in for a reasonable price. Walking distance to the short north.
Perfect location and very affordable while still living in the heart of Victorian Village! The spacious set-up of the one bedroom apartments really gave me enough room to make it into a home. The staff are nothing short of wonderful and never wait to address any concerns. Highly recommend!
I've loved this neighborhood since I moved to Columbus, but there's no way I can afford anything on a student budget. Enter: Thurber Gate. It's so reasonably priced and walking distance from the Short North, Victorian Village, the Scioto Mile, etc. Not to mention, it's nestled right in the corner of a couple of highways, so my commute is so easy. I recommend to everyone looking for a budget-friendly option--especially young people!
I moved into Thurber Gate just a couple weeks ago. Had been looking at another apartment complex that was slightly cheaper, but I figure that the location makes this place well worth the cost. I will say that there is no dishwasher, and there are no ceiling fans (though this site still claims these things are included). There are also no lights in the living room or bedrooms. These things said, I'm happy with my experience here so far. The staff are friendly, the rooms are a very comfortable size, and overall I'm excited to spend the next year living here.
great location and great price! staff is always attentive of any maintenance requests. no issues with noise. I do wish that the refrigerator was full sized and that the units came with dishwashers and microwaves. The living space is roomy and gets good light.
I just recently moved in to Thurber Gate and so far the experience has been good. The staff is nice, great and quiet location, and the people in the complex all seem really friendly. The staff has responded quickly to any issues I've had as well. So far so good!
Been living here for three months so far no issues. Maintenance handles requests asap and the office women immediately follow up and are always very friendly (especially Erin). Everything works, great area, great price.
I’ve lived here for about a year now and would continue to live here if I wasn’t moving out of state. I love how affordable and convenient it is to wheeler dog park and short north area. The staff at the office are so nice especially Carrie. Thank you!
What drew me to this listing was in fact the name and how my last name is exactly the same. However when I came to view, I fell in love with the apartments, the price is uncompared, the service is quick and responsive, and the apartments themselves are very nice. Would recommend!???
I just moved in here a few weeks ago and so far I like it here. The neighborhood is very quiet, the neighbors are friendly, and the leasing staff are very nice. They are very fast with anything that you might need, such as maintenance requests. I put in a maintenance request and I got the situation fixed the next day. I haven't had any problems so far that hasn't been fixed right away. The laundry room is very nice to have on the property, I really like that. The apartments are affordable and spacious, and so far I really like it here. (:
I have lived here for over 7 months and it honestly is a great place for the price. Very affordable & the leasing office staff is very efficient and nice. If we ever need something fixed or any questions, they help us right away! So close to short north that we can even walk less than 20 mins to go to a restaurant.

Rent here isn't bad when you look at other apartments throughout the neighborhood. Obviously, the property amenities are minimal, but you're within walking distance to Short North, Arena District, Downtown and literally minutes away via Uber from Grandview and South Side. You're also right off of 315/670. I recommend paying the extra $75 a month to get the upgraded unit. More storage and cabinetry. PROS: affordable - for the neighborhood, reasonable square footage, allows pets - Wheeler Park is behind the complex, most of the other tenants are friendly, utilities are cheap! I can't stress that one enough. Gas heat/water heater, central a/c. We average around $80 in the summer and $120 in the winter with our electric and gas bills combined. Water is flat rate paid with your rent. The pool is pretty reasonably sized. CONS: Due to the affordability, at times there may be some issues with other tenants, loud music throughout the week because of college kids, other tenants litter and don't pick up their dog's waste, there are only 7 washers and 8 dryers in the basement below the office for the entire complex, sometimes you're waiting for hours to wash your laundry or having to wait for a day or two - however, the price per wash/dry isn't bad. Honestly, the pros outweigh the cons here. Outside of all that, I highly recommend this complex to Columbus newcomers or people that live in the Columbus suburbs who want to experience that "city lifestyle." The staff and maintenance are friendly, attentive, and respond within a reasonable time to issues. The property manager does her best to ensure your stay here is as enjoyable as possible.
Apartment quality is on the lower end and the price correlates. Linoleum floored kitchens and low quality carpet throughout the units (you get what you pay for). Location is superb, my unit even has a great view of downtown. Walking is doable to the Arena District, Downtown, Short North and even Grandview. Tenant mix is relatively young and always changing (high turnover). Sometimes you will experience loud partying late into the night but nothing too intense and certainly not worth worrying about. Dogs are allowed (and encouraged), there is a dog park a stone's throw away. Staff is very friendly and responsive to tenant needs. Pool and sand volleyball courts are on site, as well as a laundry facility (all well maintained). If quality was higher, I would certainly give Thurber Gate an "Excellent" rating.
