Property Ratings at Tierra Pointe
I moved here for a new job and sadly in Albuquerque there really are no nice apartments. With the budget I had this was the best I could find. Big mistake moving here. Loud neighbors, thin walls, very clear to me that the residents who move in here are not screened at all. My new car was hit in the parking lot and no one left a note. Many many complaints regarding upstairs neighbors and nothing was resolved. No dishwasher, swamp coolers suck, smells musty. Apartment was not clean when I moved in after waiting 3 weeks for it. Toilet is always broken, cabinets are destroyed from previous residents. Garbage is always laying around. The pool was disgusting the one and only time I went there, and laundry room is newer but always garbage everywhere. Maintenance was banging around upstairs one early morning renovating the room above me and it was shaking my whole apartment. Oh and the gate? I’ve only used my gate key card maybe 3 times since moving in 8 months ago. Creepy ice cream truck that comes after dark with loud music every day. And the water is so hard it calcifies everything. This apartment feels like a really old college dorm room. I suppose the only good thing I can say is the staff are friendly, and maintenance has been timely with all my requests for repairs. But especially if you’re a single woman living alone, I wouldn’t recommend living here at all.
To my Albuquerque friend and apartment seeker, I feel I must warn you that the Tierra Pointe Apartments is NOT where you want to live. I am currently a resident of several months. This property has horrible ratings online (for years, it seems) and I've learned for good reason. The property is HORRIBLY MANAGED; don't let the first-appearance smiles fool you. The management cares nothing about the property or the tenants. Where to begin? After I signed the lease they told me there were bed bugs in my apartment, then they said they were COCKROACHES. They said they 'treated' them but there were continued to be cockroaches in my apartment after moving in and due to no fault of mine - I had no food out just bug-catching glue traps, and they put in work overtime. After weeks of complaining they finally responded and some people came to spray but didn't change the situation (management said they have the bug spray people come weekly, which is disturbing that they are needed on such a routine and frequent basis). The cockroaches probably come from the numerous dumpsters that are always overflowing around the property and management does nothing about it. there is no property security because people can walk through the front pedestrian gate 24/7 as it has no lock. The overflowing garbage and debris appears to get stacked up into forts or living accommodations for homeless people. I sent numerous emails over several weeks about this problem and none were addressed. Also, before moving in I forgot to check the air conditioner. BIG MISTAKE. this property does not have air conditioning it has swamp coolers and mine was broken. Swamp coolers are on the roof so you they go and notice and you forget to inspect them. Swamp coolers are from the 60's and 70's and very inefficient. Mine blew only hot air for weeks despite numerous requests for service. They don't show you the unit you will get only a 'model unit' so you do not have a real opportunity to inspect your unit until after you sign the lease. They make you sign the lease before you get your unit keys and see it for the first time. In redeeming factors, I have really really nice neighbors. I hope you read this and make better choices than I did. Truly yours, Wiser Now.
The crime rate is terrible; you can hear car alarms going off around 1 am almost daily. My license plate was returned to me by a cop, some drug addicts traded it with a stolen cars plate. My gas tanks been emptied out and left me on the side of the freeway. My packages including a Mother’s Day gift has been stolen from the front of my door. There was a murder sometime in July in these apartments. Managements plays ignorant and WILL NOT help, they simply redirect you to call a “curtesy patrol”. Sounds like they need to have a cop parked doing circles in the complex 24/7. Several washers and dryers are broken so only a few people can do laundry at a time. They offer a referral bonus of about $200. 2 years later my friend never got it. They offer a discount if you renew your contact. Guess what? That was also a lie and I never got my discount. The poor customer service reps get chewed out by angry misled tenants, yet management will avoid your calls and voice mails. I am pretty sure the crime rate won’t get any better. DO NOT LIVE HERE ALONE NOR WITH YOUR CHILDREN**** Thin walls and very loud kids, teens and people all day and night will not let you rest. You can hear people’s footsteps and anything that drops upstairs’. Many tenants are leaving, you do not have peace of mind living here. People have visited my friends that live here and got their truck stolen within hours. There are meth heads I almost got into physical fights with because I caught the person red handed with her head at my car window looking for valuable items to pawn for his next high.
I was a former resident back form 2014-2016. The my family and I applied at these apartments back in the beginning of July 18. Everything went fine, and smooth and we were told we'd been accepted pending one outstanding account which we took care of same day and sent conformation. We continued the process and went in twice to sign a move in intention and other docs pertaining to the move in. We were scheduled to move in Aug 11th but on July 25th I was called and told that they had an apt open up earlier and asked if we wanted to move in. We eventually declined and were excited for out Aug 11th move in. Today, however, I got a call from the rep there stating very nonchalantly that we were declined and at first didn't explain why. Of course this blindsided me and I started to ask questions and try to understand how it could go from yes you are good to go, come and sign the initial docs, to nope you're out of here that fast. Never once did they inform me through this month of what was going on. And the rep Selena started to tell boldfaced lies of how she told us everything which is not true. If that were the case, I would have waited and not changed all my utilities and US Post office to the new address and even moved my son to the new school. I would have waited. I am very disappointed and upset how this was handled. And to tell us with only a week before moving. Here's hoping I can find a place in time.
I lived here for years and it was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. Bad customer service, poor amenities, unsafe community, drugs everywhere. The only reason we stayed was because it was close to the school my child attended. Couldn’t be happier to get out of there. If I could give no stars, I would.
There are bugs everywhere in my current unit. I have had it sprayed multiple times yet today alone I found 2 spiders in my bathroom, an earwig in my living room, pill bugs all along the edges of the floors, and cockroaches on my counters. This would make sense if I was a dirty person but I am not. The AC vent blows rust dust all over my unit. There is a creepy ice cream truck that blairs it’s music while it drives around the complex for hours in the late afternoon. There is also a weird old guy who sells candy from his bicycle and honks a clown horn that you can hear from inside your apartment. The laundry center has dinosaur old washer/dryers. When paid for hot water to clean my whites, the water was cold. About 50% my clothes are damp after a full dry cycle I pay for (and no overloading isn’t the issue). 5 of the parking spaces outside my unit are flooded every morning from improper drainage of the irrigation system. The gym has no free weights and a non removable assist bar where one would do normal pull ups. Of the 3 traffic gates, only 1 is used making a constant congestion. The rent is cheap. Just remember you get what you pay for.

Run Away ... Go Anywhere Else. Let me be clear that I lived there for two miserable years, paid rent on time (was late once due to their computer foul-up), and was never fined. This is a horrible place to live. This is a greedy corporate entity that uses contracts to harass residents, collect stupid fines, and pocket the profits. Everyone from top to bottom is a corporate clone. First, they have a $1,200 Termination Clause on all leases and will not bend ... even if you lose your job or there are family circumstances. Things constantly break and, if you do not fix them yourself, you have to call three or four times to get a repair. The residents trash the pool and the laundry room. Yeah, they all have beautiful offices but their smiles are phony and their attitudes are condescending. There is constant vandalism. My car was broken into three times and good old Hugo didn't give a crap. The security is non-existent ... it is a phone number and nothing else. They never respond. One day I saw three people I did not recognize trying to break into a neighbor's car ... when I called the office, they said it was not their problem and that I should call APD. The gates are a joke ... anyone can get in at any time. Please ... do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
For the price, it's not horrible by any means; however, there are some issues that the complex has that were not ok for me as a new resident: 1) The apartment was not clean upon move in. There was hair on the walls in the bathroom, dirt on the counter tops, etc. 2) It was mentioned that bottom level apartments don't have patios as I moved in; however, there were several that I've seen around the area that have patios 3) There were flooding issues when it rained. While they were addressed quickly, it was still an issue 4) Bugs are a major issue. They will come and spray but they still manage to seep into the apartment in droves sometimes. The office is nice and friendly, and they help where they can but still many issues that could have been addressed sooner.
I am impressed with the service from the office staff. I like the location of my apartment the pool. I rented mainly because of the customer service and politeness the day I stopped by to see the model. I have signed a one year rental lease. I am happy here.
