Property Ratings at Top of the Hill Apartments
I've lived here six months. So far, there's roaches, bed bugs, my car stolen from the parking lot (despite the PG County "safety officer" who is supposed to be on duty every night...). The economy toilet doesn't even flush toilet paper, and you'll wait five minutes for hot water. There was also a shooting, that went thru an acquaintance's window, and three weeks later TOH hasn't even covered the hole, much less replaced it.

We're sorry to see this review and apologize for any issues you've encountered while residing in our community. We take pest control very seriously and have a regular extermination schedule in place. We encourage residents to report any pest sightings to our management team so that we can address the issue immediately. Regarding car theft and other crimes, this is very concerning to us as well. Unfortunately, crime has no address despite our best preventative measures, but rest assured that we are taking action to cooperate with the local police regarding this matter. Kindly reach out to us at 301-485-2400 so that we can discuss these issues further and work on solutions. Thank you.
There is a deeply embedded rodent infestation. Now there are bed bugs spreading. Rampant crime and violence-shootings and theft right on the property. Your car is constantly at risk for vandalism and theft. You are at constant risk of a bullet coming through your window. There is trash, dog poop pee and vomit all throughout the community. It has never smelled like anything other than garbage. Management does not care about the health and safety of you and your family.

We apologize that you haven't been seeing our efforts reflected during your residency. We hope you'll stop into the office or contact us directly at 301-485-2400 to discuss how we can help turn your experience around and regain your confidence. Thank you.
Do not believe the hype, you do not get what you pay for here. Rent is $$$$ for broken gym equipment, filth, trash smelling hallway and mice and roaches. Oh and you will never have water, Expect that twice a week without warning. It is always an “emergency” when it comes to that. Maintenance does not care about your requests, they tell you anything so that you will stop harassing them to actually do their job.

Thanks for your review, Van. Although disappointing to hear, we appreciate it because it helps us pinpoint where we need to do better. Due to the nature of your concerns, we believe your situation would be better resolved with more direct communication. At your convenience, please stop by the leasing office or contact us at 301-485-2400. We'll do everything we can to help improve your stay in our community. Thank you.
My first apartment, I stayed a lot longer than expected but the reviews from 2015 are the same and it’s 2021. Mice, roaches, do not live on the ground floor as the trash chutes are directly in the hallways on that level, you’ll leave out and tons of roaches crawling up the wall. The elevators were “fixed” but there’s constantly only one working. Nice size apartments but the kitchen is tiny and old pipes makes the bathroom smell like sewage. Parking is also a hassle, everyone parks in visitors spots and cars are always towed.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us, Bianca. We apologize for any issues or inconveniences you have experienced. Please feel free to stop by the office or call us at 301-485-2400 so that we can get more information and make sure all your concerns are addressed. Thank you.
The employees probably wrote these reviews... The reason I even gave this place one star is because of its convenient location. The entire complex and each building is mice infested... the problem is so bad that it does not even matter how clean you keep apartment. The only thing cleanliness does is keep the roaches out. Roaches are still seen throughout the buildings and crawling along up the elevator walls. The ground floor hallway smells like garbage daily. I've even seen a dead mouse in the hallway which was left there for about a week. The rent goes up $50/ year and not one improvement has been made to this horrendous place. Furthermore, the assistant property manager is manipulative and conniving.

If you have a moment, we would love to speak with you offline to discuss your suggestions and set up a visit from our maintenance team. Please stop into the office or give us a call at 301-485-2400. Thank you.,
I've lived here since 8/2016...I was told that i couldn't have a dog when I moved in so i scratched the idea of ever getting another one since mine was stolen in a different state, since being her I've seen numerous of dogs in each buildung coming and going...nonetheless I'm about to get me a small dog cause I love pets and it gets lonely with all my children gone off to college. Yes!, there is constant weed smoking an cigarette in the stair wells and elevators in peoples apartments and in the hallways and it seems that recently we have a younger crowd who likes to write on the walls too...I've never really had a problem with maintenance or the cleanluness of my building and its really reasonable renting here, kitchens are very tiny though.
I like here for 3yrs the apartment complex is ok..
The apartments are roomy, and the place was spotlessly clean when we moved in. But now, a few months later, we find that the beautiful coats of paint were quite literally covering everything up. We have a mold problem in the HVAC units, and even after three visits form maintenance, it's still there. We had to call an external mold company to test the vents and take swabs to prove we had a problem. Maintenance is not a priority for this place - the elevator shakes and last i checked, the safety certificate was outdated. The hallways and elevator smell of marijuana constantly. The laundry room is OK, but they lock it randomly (no signs, no mention of this in our lease). The neighborhood, while not explicitly dangerous, is not somewhere I'd go walking after dark, and there is nonstop construction on the road to the metro station. We live 1/4 mile away, and after a week, I finally gave up and started parking at the metro station because the construction and the catcalling from drunk men outside the neighborhood bar was too much. You get what you pay for. It's cheap, and all the utilities are included except water. We have a lovely view. No pet deposit. But we're looking for a new place.
I was looking for an apartment that I can call my home. I was looking for I was looking for an apartment that I can call my home. I was looking for location, metro accessible, and friendly yet professional leasing staff. And I got that all from Top of the Hill. At first I was looking for a studio apartment and nothing was available at that time but when one became available the time frame of me leaving my old apartment would not work out, so I went back to apartment hunting. Luckily one of the leasing consultant did not give up on finding me a place their and had received an email regarding a price reductions on one bedroom apartments and when I had ask for the price it was cheaper than their studio apartment. I am nearer the 95's, minutes from Iverson Mall and my high rise view is priceless.location, metro accessible, and friendly yet professional leasing staff. And I got that all from Top of the Hill. My wife and I have been living at Top of the Hill Apartments for just over a year now. The people in the complex (all buildings) are really quite friendly, and made us feel right at home. The noise of the outside neighborhood is quite a pain. There are often dirt bike & ATV riders that race down the street at all hours, constant road construction crews, and teens arguing and yelling in the liquor store parking lot across the street. The management team is average, professional, yet a bit disorganized. For the DC area, you are getting what you pay for. It is a decent place to start if you are looking to save money, but not somewhere I would like to live long term
Top of the Hill Apartments are in a convenient location to public transportation(bus stops right in front of the community and the green line subway is within walking distance), grocery shopping, eateries, and movie theater. The apartments are spacious and the view is great.
