Property Ratings at Tower on the Maumee
I have lived here going on 2 years. In my opinion this one of the better options in downtown Toledo. Pros: -Absolutely amazing views. After nearly 2 years I still enjoy the view from my apartment. If possible, try to get one facing east so you can enjoy the river. -Nicer finishes for an apartment (nice tile floors, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, full-size washer & drying in each unit, etc.). -Great downtown location. If you're looking downtown, you obviously want to enjoy all of downtown's amenities. You can walk anywhere downtown from the Tower. -Quiet building. I have never had any issues with noise or rowdy neighbors. -Cheap utilities. You only pay electric here and it's very inexpensive. My bill averages around $30 per month. Cons: -The attached parking garage is the most convenient parking option and it's still not that convenient. During normal business hours it can take 10 minutes to get from your car to your apartment waiting for the parking garage elevator and navigating through the office workers who occupy the lower floors of the building. Also, taking groceries from your car to your apartment is a bit of a hassle. I started getting mine delivered as a result. Parking is steep, $80 per month per car. -Buckeye Cable is your only option for internet service so you are at the mercy of their prices. -While I've never felt unsafe in the building and there is key fob access to get into the lobby and elevators, when there is an event downtown there are lots of people walking through and around the building. There is a security guard at the front desk 24/7 but I've still seen people wandering through the lobby that probably had no business being there. -These apartments are expensive. They definitely border on being overpriced. You have to really like living here to justify the cost. -There was a 3 day power and water outage in August 2020 and the building provided zero reimbursement for tenant's losses. This definitely soured my opinion of building ownership, although the on-site management has always been helpful, attentive, and friendly.
Power and water was out for 4 days and we were expected to pay full rent. Our gym and grill have been closed since March with no plans on reopening. Do not live here seriously regret it. Water and cable often go out.
Power and water was out for three days and tenants were expected to pay full rent plus hotel costs. This was not the first time for water outage that has happened two other times since I have lived here. Also cable is out multiple times. I have only lived here for a year.
