As one of the oldest state capitals in the country, Albany is rich in history. The city’s architecture is truly stunning, giving the community a timeless quality. The NY State Museum and the Albany Institute of History and Art are local landmarks, bringing locals the opportunity to soak in a collection of permanent and rotating exhibitions.
The nightlife in Albany is an eclectic mix sure to please any taste, from breweries to comedy clubs, primarily along Pearl Street and Lark Street. Sports fans always have something to keep them occupied, from ValleyCat baseball games at Bruno Stadium in the summer to Devils hockey matches in the winter.
Nearly 20,000 students attend classes at SUNY Albany, and their influence on the local culture can be felt in the Midtown Strip area, near the downtown campus.

Property Ratings at Towers of Colonie
If you are moving in here, please do not get any apartments facing the leasing office. I can't even explain how noisy it is. Every single day there would be maintenance going on (not even sure if that much maintenance is needed). Also front office staff is rude. We moved in here because the apartments have good amount of sunlight and balcony is big. But that's all about it. The apartments inside is small and the corridors are so depressing. I do not like the gym(with couple trade mills) either. With this price, there are many better apartments in Albany area. Unless you do not have a car and want to stay on CDTA busline then towers of colonie is a good option.

We look forward to improving your experience and opinion of our community.
Front office staff is the face for any tenant. The front office staff sucks, they are rude always lying about availability! The only pro is the location, lot of cons like mice, old fashioned heating without thermostat, carpet gets flattened after six months of usage, walls are not sound proof, windows are may be 100 year old ones as imagine about heat cost in winters!!!

I've lived here for almost three years, and it will be my last. The apartment is okay, the best part about it is the location. I've had heater issues that took them a while to fix which left me with a very cold winter last year, and it feels like they're constantly having piping issues. The maintenance team is very nice, but the office team can be very rude and clearly don't want to spend their time listening to your needs. Something that is extremely annoying is the fact that the building is only wired for Spectrum. So after your first year when Spectrum doubles your rate, there is nothing you can do because you can't have a different service provider. If you're going to let Spectrum hold a monopoly, then include the costs in the amenities. On top of that, when I first moved in they had no wifi connection, just a cut-off wire sticking out of the ceiling. I had to wait two weeks for Spectrum to come out and put in the plug so I could use wifi/cable. I get that the apartment doesn't cover that side of the business, but are you not able to prepare me so I could have set up a meeting on move in day for someone to come out? Also, why can't we have any pets? Other tri-city rental apartments with carpeting allow animals, why can't we have them here??

CJ, we're deeply concerned to hear about your experience at our community. Our entire team, from maintenance to office, works incredibly hard to provide exceptional care and service for our residences, so it's disappointing to know that we did not meet your expectations. We would love to assist in creating a five-star home for you and encourage you to drop by our office to further discuss your concerns regarding wifi or pets.
Great location and the apartment buildings are well maintained. It is located close to Wolf road with lot of restaurants near by. The maintenance staff is courteous and quick to fix the problems and they helped me unlock the door when i was locked out even after hours. They have a community hall for hosting large parties which the residents can book twice a year. Overall it is a nice place to live.

We're really glad you've been enjoying your home, as well our wonderfully convenient location. The satisfaction of our residents here at the Towers of Colonie is a top priority for our team and we look forward to continuing to provide our community with the exceptional service you all deserve! Thank you!
I lived at the Towers of Colonie for for 4 years and in that time I have had to deal with management on several occasions from changing roommates, issues with the apartment and other general questions. Every single time I dealt with the staff at the main office I was given awful service. It felt as though I was inconveniencing them every time and when I would ever ask a question I would get a quick remark with an undertone of "I'm better than you". On top of the rude service the price for the apartment is well over the value of the apartment. I can see why they are having all of the promotions over the last 4 months, they can't get anyone in. Knowing how cheap they are I bet they would even pay the referral bonus they had been offering, I couldn't even get back $5 on my laundry when I moved out. If it weren't for the location of the apartment I would have moved out 2 years ago when I switched roommates. In all do not let the outer appearance of the grounds and location fool you because the beast lies within the walls of the office building. They will great you with a smile and then belittle you with a grin.

The towers of Colonie are a safety and pest hazard and I cannot forewarn apartment seekers to stay away in stronger terms. I enjoyed the location which was convenient to my Wolf Road office and nearby shopping, but the pest and safety problems were very concerning. The apartment complex has a widespread rodent infestation that's a result of poor integrated pest management. The outside grounds are where the majority of maintenance efforts are performed (landscaping). The result is that the interior of the towers resembles public housing. The elevators are frequently out, lighting fixtures burn out and are a major safety concern especially in the stairwells which frequently have homeless taking shelter in the window. The security is good on the front entryway with the buzz-in system, but the side and rear doors are frequently left propped open and on several occasions I found the locks broken and able to operate without a key. The interior carpeting is filthy and 5 minutes of scrubbing a small patch of the hallways with a rug doctor resulted in the water being completely black with dead insects and such in the water as well. The laundry machines frequently were out of order, pipes in the laundry room would rupture and flood without and sort of clean up involved in the maintenance response (to prevent mold, mildew growth). Very little preventative maintenance was witnessed in the interiors of the buildings, as well. Very old and cheap outlets would arc and fail in the winter, and the fuse for my heat was bizarrely tied to the circuit for the living room outlets, which resulted in having no heat in the winter and sluggish response from the management. Pest problems were frequent. My unit very clean and had minimal food waste or other garbage left around -no reason for this since there is a garbage chute on each floor. Nonetheless, mice and larger rats appeared in the unit scampering about, and the maintenance response was again sluggish and unacceptable. The maintenance man used steel wool to sloppily patch the rat's chewed hole in the cabinet to prevent entry instead of replacement. There was a complete lack of building-wide pest response as I am accustomed to from experiences living in rental units in NYC and Poughkeepsie. Additionally, other pests like beetles, earwigs were common occurrences. Worst of all were bedbugs, each unit on my floor became infested with bed bugs.

We strive to provide the best in customer service and would like the opportunity to speak with you personally about the issues you have mentioned at your earliest convenience. Thank you and we look forward to speaking with you soon.
Great location, and the grounds are well kept and park like. The maintenance staff is fast and courteous. The pool is clean and well cared for, and there is a workout room in two of the three buildings. Community rooms are available to use for a large party if you need one and there is a yearly summer picnic for all residents free of charge, as well as various other events throughout the year....a great way to get to know your neighbors. Overall a great place to live. Only negatives are the parking lot, which at times tenants drive through like it is the NYS thruway...and the laundry rooms on each floor, which do not always having working machines.... and tenants tend to leave their clothes unattended in the machines and tie up others. But that is not the fault of the complex.
The apartments are billed as luxury but they are not: popcorn ceiling; holes from previous owners covered by tape and painted over; chipped paint on corner joints; out dated and ineffective appliances; wall to wall carpeting (looks like it is from the 80's); the kitchen lacks any direct ventilation to the outside - so if you cook something the smoke will fill the apartment. Also the building itself is horrible: you can hear people walking in the apartment above you; TVs and talking from the apartments around you; you can hear the plumbing from other apartments; if you live by the elevator you will hear it all night; you can smell whatever is cooking around you and second hand smoke; occasionally there is some problem with bugs and/or mice. The nice features are: 24hr maintenance, ample parking; pool; laundry (on site). However the price is high for the area and there is little benefit
This place is awesome. The maintenance team takes great care of things. Its always clean inside. The pool is well maintained
