There's much more to Champaign's sister city of Urbana than you might think. It is a lively college town, home to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, it has a long and fascinating history, and it is family-friendly and beautiful. While it is usually tied to its next-door twin, Urbana stands out on its own -- Downtown Urbana is the city hub, home to Market at the Square, a farmers market that began in 1979. The historic downtown features historic architecture, bike lanes (and plenty of bike racks), sidewalk cafes, period lighting, and a wide variety of shops and restaurants.
In addition to the university, Urbana is home to the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, a research institute located on the university's campus. The neighborhood attracts those with children, thanks to its top-ranking schools, and it features beautiful parks, such as Crystal Lake Park and Meadowbrook Park.

I went in to tour this property today and was honestly impressed. The staff was knowledgeable and kind, and you could tell they took pride in the community. The apartment building looked and smelled clean and the show rooms were beautiful and inviting.

The property manager responds to all reviews so they're clearly aware of how dangerous and dirty some of their buildings are yet I haven't seen them do anything about it. If you want to live in peace and safety, go somewhere else. But if you want to live in a building where the locks are always broken and there are dangerous men in the parking lot then this might be the place for you.

Always cops being called. It’s always smells. People are being robbed and apartments are getting broken into. The rent is to high for some place so unsafe. Always hidden fees popping up out of nowhere and when you go to call they don’t even know what to say. Leasing office staff and management are very rude people. They are nice when you sign the lease but minute you do after that they treat you like garbage. There are no in unit washer and dryers they are laundry rooms that have been broken into as well. There are only Tiny wall units for air conditioning so if you live on the third floor have fun trying to keep cool in the summer. I had to pay out of pocket for a window unit and fans just to cool my apartment off. Place is just bad all the way around would not recommend to first time renters or anyone for that matter!

Extremely poor and terrible place place. They should change the name from Town & Country to Terrible & Crappy. Roaches are abundant, buildings are not secure. Doors are always busted. Anyone can saunter in and out. This place needs major TLC and then some. Save your money and go some place sanitary!

The definition of sketch . At least 2 of the buildings has a roach infestation but the owners refuse to do anything except spray the doors, which has done nothing so far. The walls are paper thin, the locks on the mail room doors are always busted. There always seems to be police arresting someone. Knew a guy who got chased around by some random weirdos there. A bunch of weirdos were always trying to flag me down. There are at least two derelict cars in every parking lot. It sounds like a parody of an impossibly terrible apartment when I write it all out, but it’s the truth. The on-site managers and maintenance are friendly enough and they do what they can, but every time something needs to be handled at a higher level nothing gets done. I bet the company that owns the place gives them a shoestring budget for maintenance and it shows. Don’t get me wrong, the low rent is certainly appealing, but they should be paying the tenants for all the crap they put them through. Stay away.

I have seen homeless people live in the laundry room, random people on apartment balconies have yelled out at me, people I know have been mugged on the premises and there are always cops getting called. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

For the most part it's good bang for your buck. Apartment and rooms are spacious. Minor stains on counters and carpet but nothing horrible. Having issues with the portable dishwasher but it's being taken care of. There's 4 pools but they're not all open at the same time and I haven't figured out how they determine which ones are open and which ones are locked up. The pools close at 4:30 pm during the week and closed completely on Sundays. This might be a Covid thing but if you work till 5 pm you'll never get to swim. The parking lot has a big pot hole close to my apartment and the numbers are hard to read on parking spots. All the staff has been extremely nice, friendly and helpful. I haven't had any issues with noise or noisy neighbors. Over-all I'm happy living here and would recommend this place to everyone.

It’s not the most amazing apartment in the world by any means, but as a student it is perfect for me. It’s a really big space and perfect for my cat, dog, and me. There’s minor scratches and stains, but the price is not bad at all. I haven’t seen any pests in my home, which is what I was worried about to begin with. I’m thinking of staying here the whole time I go to school due to the very accommodating staff and how big my apartment is for the price.

Thank you so much for your kind words. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us here at Town & Country. We count ourselves lucky for residents like you. We’re here for you!
Positive things: Inside the apartments are well kept up. Spacious living and bed rooms. Large kitchens with older but hardy and large appliances. They can provide a portable dishwasher. The included internet is great for streaming Netflix, playing online games, and computer work... but only one at a time (see below). Management people are friendly and accommodating. Management is good at responding to resident complaints. Maintenance requests are handled pretty well. Parking is no issue even for guests. Laundry service is good too (there's an app loaded with your payment info that you use to pay for laundry instead of coins, but coins still accepted). Reasonable living arrangement and amenities for the price. Pet friendly too. Negative things: The included internet is not good at multitasking, for example, cannot stream Netflix and surf the web at the same time without internet speeds dropping significantly. Interior of the buildings are not well kept up. The area within and around T&C does not feel safe (big reason for 2 stars). (I've had 3 packages stolen from in front of my door, 2 items stolen from the 2nd floor balcony, and neighbors who aggressively argue with each other inside the apartments and in the building hallways.). There are often reports of crimes nearby including a couple shootings; however, none have been within T&C. The level of noise that can be heard through the walls and ceilings is high. Lots of litter inside and outside the buildings. Ultimately, Neighbors seem to not respect each other or T&C property. Hopefully this helps in making your decision.
The staff and location are great! very helpful, clean apt./grounds and i appreciate all that we need is in a close proximity, easy to pay online and at stores, i enjoy the friendly, quiet community. Good value. I recommend it.
The staff and maitenence crew have all been very accommodating. They answer questions the best that they can and respond in as timely a manner as possible. I enjoy the location as well being somebody that does not drive. Bus or walking distance for many of my needs.
I moved into Town and Country in December last year. I've had some maintenance issues since I moved in but the maintenance staff has been very responsive - they even rescheduled with me multiple times when I kept forgetting to put my dog in his kennel for the day. The common hallway got dirty for a couple weeks but has recently been very well maintained and looks like they changed companies recently. I had a problem with my neighbor's dog running around and the new manager was very helpful and came right to my apartment to see for herself. I'm not sure what they did, but the dog isn't running around all hours of night anymore......AWESOME!!! It's very convenient living here and working at Carle Hospital. All and All, my experience has been positive and I've decided to renew my lease again.

Thank you for your feedback! Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to make your stay here more enjoyable.
Town and Country constantly has apartments ready for immediate move in for a reason: they are AWFUL. The grounds are not well-maintained and the untrimmed shrubs in front of every building allow for a constant population of every kind of insect imaginable to man (and they WILL get in your apartment, no matter how much you spray). At least one of the pools is green at all times, it constantly smells like raw sewage outside because it's near the Sanitary District, and the buildings themselves are not maintained inside or out. From my unit's window, I watched maintenance tear down two balconies in another building, put 2x4's up as temporary barriers, and then never build the new balconies, even after several months had passed. Inside the buildings, garbage is left in the common areas, I've stepped in urine that was in the entryway, and over the course of the two years I lived here, the security door's lock had been broken at least twice a month - and it was never fixed in the last month I lived there. Even when the door did work, ANY KEY WILL OPEN THE LOCKS. I've opened the security door with my mail key, friends' keys from other apartment complexes, even my sister's dorm key. Even beyond the grounds and buildings, the police are constantly at the complex, and even food delivery people have told me that they have to be careful at Town and Country because they've been robbed while delivering there. There are so many other options in the CU that are the same price for way better quality; Town and Country is not worth it.
We've lived here for 2 years now, and have personally watched the quality of service and value diminish at an alarming rate. The people that work in the leasing office are nice until the very second you sign that lease, then you are only a number to them. One specific leasing woman is probably one of the most unfriendly people I've ever met. The apartments are terrible quality, with out-dated air conditioners that constantly break (20 years old-- they won't replace them!), and the walls are paper thin. Beware, Town & Country will literally try to squeeze every penny they can out of you. There are hidden fees that show up on your bill, with no explanation at all. You also have to have the carpets PROFESSIONALLY cleaned upon move out, at your personal expense. Literally the only good thing about this place is the fact that they are pet friendly and have free (but extremely slow) internet. Location is decent, but more questionable people have been moving in lately. We are moving out in a month, due to increasing rent, terrible customer service, and safety being a top concern (police are constantly called out here). Please avoid at all costs, you'll thank me later!
Location is about the only thing that's great about it. Management will squeeze you for every dime you have. Apartments and grounds are not well maintained. Appliances are old and outdated and good luck to you if any thing breaks. They take forever and make it a pain to have anything fixed.
The Town and Country apartment complex is a lovely place to live. Many of the apartments are older with some wear and tear but my unit is very spacious. Maintenance has been extremely helpful since I moved here 7 months ago. I have had very few problems and only a couple complaints. Management has also been very helpful which has not usually been my experience with many of the apartments that I have lived in in the past. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The pools are great and the dog friendly environment has been a great plus for me. I am close to campus which is nice as a graduate student. Overall, I have had a very pleasant experience here so far.
