Midtown Harrisburg boasts the excitement of a big city with the old-fashioned touches that come with living in central Pennsylvania. The busy little community sits just east of the Susquehanna River and a mile west of downtown's 7th Street.
Walk a mile from your centrally-located apartment and you're sure to uncover such treasures as local artwork at 3rd Street's Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center, a painstakingly-crafted scone at the Famous Reading Cafe on Third and Reily, and a brilliant foreign film at Midtown Cinema on Reily Street. Unwind after a challenging week at work by heading to the Midtown Tavern to enjoy a Yuengling pale ale (or two) with some familiar faces. Whether you enjoy checking out the local bar scene, patronizing the arts, or thrifting at places like the historic Broad Street Market, Midtown Harrisburg has plenty of local gems for you to discover.

Property Ratings at Towne House Apartments
I would like to share my experience living at Townehouse apartments with you. The apartment is situated above the 15th floor, offering an awe-inspiring view of the river and mountains. The rooftop deck is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the fireworks display during the summer evenings. The apartment's walls seem to be pretty soundproof, I never hear my neighbors, the higher floor provides an extremely peaceful environment for me to immerse myself in. The property manager, Joy, is a remarkable person who is always available to assist me with any concerns. Any maintenance requests are handled promptly, and the Luxor lockers provide a safe and secure way to receive my packages. The laundry room is equipped with an app that alerts me when my washer or dryer cycle is almost complete, making my life much simpler. The hallways are recently renovated, and the parking lot is well-lit with brighter lights, making it simple to locate my car. My studio apartment has a spacious walk-through closet, and all windows are screened and completely secure. I understand that there have been some negative reviews regarding pests, but I have not encountered any bugs or mice in my unit. The management schedules regular exterminator visits, and I also utilize a sonic bug repeller near my windows to keep the spiders away. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my high-rise apartment.
The air quality is awful. Cigarette smoke and marijuana gets in my apartment. They taped over vents to block it with cheap tape. Glass in the landscaping, tattered, dirty flags. The management smokes in front of people and barks at you when you ask for something. The windows don't have grates on them so you could just fall out, even on the 19th floor.
-Resided at Townhouse Apartments in Harrisburg, PA from late July 2019 until late September 2022. -Paid all of my rent and obligations as per my lease on time without incident, even during the COVID-19 Pandemic. -Maintenance does not respect remote workers, they barge right in whenever they want. I’ve asked many of times to please schedule in advance so I can properly prepare. They would sometimes “schedule” with me only to not show up until 2 weeks later randomly without notice. -I was in the shower and heard noises in my apartment, I jumped out of the shower quickly and was nude only to find a maintenance worker changing a smoke detector, I was horrified! -Living Room AC leaked GALLONS of water onto the carpeted floor, they continued providing old used AC units covered in black mold as a replacement that also leaked water! I had enough and contacted codes, the issue was that they were not checking to see if the units were leveled!!! -I’ve found many roaches in my unit, so disgusting. -My unit was full of black mold in the kitchen and bathrooms (Kitchen cabinets, bathroom ceilings). -The bathroom tub faucet was repaired for leaking at least 8 plus times during my time there. -The Property Management Team (Terry and Joy) make things so easy when you first move in, but I assure you that honeymoon phase lifts quickly, then they just ignore any of your concerns unless you pester them enough. -My particular unit had a capped electric charge of $50 per month in the lease, they installed a meter without any notice or agreement, and began to charge me! We made a deal that mine would stay the same until I moved out, this was in an email. -When I had moved out, I took pictures as everything was as immaculate as it could be for an old building. I never heard anything about my deposit, so I contacted them via email and they stated in an email that a check was being cut from their NY office, and then I never heard anything. I followed-up several times to learn that they decided to keep my security deposit over the electric charges even though I paid the $50 per month as agreed. -There is many more situations that frustrated me such as the building not having hot water, pipes breaking in the building yielding no water at all, issues with the elevators not working, and so many more things. -Living here truly isn’t it, you get what you pay for, and for that I would advise you pay more and find somewhere else to live, you’ll thank yourself later, I promise!
WARNING DO NOT LIVE HERE! I would only suggest moving here if you love horrible smells, gross living accommodations, and not getting your security deposit back. When you go to visit they will only show you nice places that are not finished yet so you don't really have an idea of where you will be living. When you move in, you will be disappointed. To start, there are bugs and smells that just don't go away, you need to use air fresheners or just get used to it. The whole place is extremely outdated and it feels like you are back in the 70's. The laundry room was just redone this last year, but don't let that fool you, it is still a gross mess. They are constantly towing people out of the parking lot too. I counted on one Friday night seven cars being towed out. On my first week living there a leak came in the roof and made my bedroom smell horrible and I couldn't sleep in there until it was fixed. Took them almost a week to do that. They love to tell you maintenance will come to fix something for you, but you will be lucky if someone does come after the first time you ask. They also have to enter your apartment to read the electric meters every month so be aware of that too. As far as my security deposit goes, they refuse to return it. There was zero damage, paid my rent on time, and was a perfect tenant. No reason to keep my security deposit and after talking with Terry, the horrible property manager, I am left with no choice but to go to small claims court. The upside to this place is that it is cheap. But that is it. If you don't want to spend a lot of money and are fine with terrible living conditions, then this is the place for you!
The management is rude, and extremely unhelpful. They do not offer reserved parking even though parking is already extremely expensive. They do not have guest parking, and will make you wait days just to get a parking pass. Don't be fooled by the lobby, the apartments and hallways are very outdated and ill-maintained. Not at all good living in Harrisburg for the price, you'd be much better off just finding a house to rent or going somewhere like Mulberry or PA Place.
This is actually the best place to be if you're looking for something affordable and convenient! The property is great, the people are great, the leasing agents are amazing as well! They offer a lot of amenities and a lot is included. I love it here and would recommend it to anyone! Seriously! Best place ever!
