Straight north of Des Moines on I-35, Ankeny is a rapidly-growing suburb with a distinctly family-friendly environment. The extensive network of public parks (Prairie Ridge in particular) offer playgrounds, sports fields, and nice scenery all over town. Property Ratings at Tradition Apartments
Terrible management, terrible maintenance, Stuff is always breaking graffiti everywhere, trash in apartment buildings everywhere with expensive rent don’t live here so many better place with cheaper rents
If i could give zero stars i would have. Loud neighbors and dogs barking all hours of the night and day to where you barely get any sleep or get any piece and quiet. Ive Complained to the landlord so many times and she doesn't do anything about it. They allow smoking on your patio so you can never open your windows otherwise your place will smell like cigarettes and also you will have cigarette ashes all over your patio furniture.
I have absolutely loved living in Tradition Apts. in Ankeny. Our place was very, very spacious, affordable, comfortable, and came with a pool on site, a clubhouse to use for gatherings for free, and even a basketball court on the complex! Tiffany is very reliable and helpful, and on the occasions there may have been a question or a problem, she and the team would resolve things within the day, easily. I Will miss living here, and this town in general
I’ve lived here a total of 4 years. In that time, my ground floor unit flooded, forcing me to move. After moving back my A/C quit working the beginning of summer and it took them an entire month to get it fixed. A week later my washer broke and they had to order a new one. There’s been a giant hole in the stairwell wall for about 5 months. The front door to my building gets yanked open and it’s broken about half the time. My neighbor let his puppy pee in the hallway right outside my door and management did nothing. They don’t clean the pool, so the sides are covered in algae and the water is green. There is no maintenance man so there are overgrown weeds covering the entire property. Nobody picks up after their pets so there is dog poop everywhere that puts out an odor. Smoking is allowed on the balcony so you can’t sit outside or open your windows unless you want to smell it. The hallways smell of marijuana constantly. Packages get delivered to the office, but nobody tells you. There have been no updates to the property since it was built. And after all that, they raised the rent. Find somewhere else to live and save yourself the stress.
The management here sucks! I asked them to fix my laundry, it took more than two months to just come and take a look at it. When the guy came he said ‘it doesn’t look bad, are you sure this isn’t working well? ???????‘. After that I called them for my electric owen, and the same thing happened, the maintenance guy came and said maybe the power courd is not connected well, just try to push it harder once in a while ????. He surely doesn’t know what he is talking about. These days for Christmas they made a competition where the most decorated patio would win some money, and one of the three prices went for themselves for decorating the patio of the apartment where they live. It was ridiculous! The apartments aren’t good enough too, prepare to pay a lot of bills because nothing it’s included in the price. The isolation is bad so you’re electric bill is always $100+. In general, this place is not worth the money and the management’s behavior is weird!
If you love loud college kids and their even louder modified cars make sure to move in here ASAP. This place has all the down sides to dorm living with none of the perks. Smoking is allowed on the balcony, so be prepared to never have your windows open on a nice summer day. Dumpsters always overflowing with trash. People yelling and speeding in the parking lot at all hours. Management is exceptionally poor. They are very nice people but they can't even get enough keys together for everyone in your apartment after months of waiting or enforce any of their regulations beyond taping a piece of paper to your door asking you nicely not to for the fifth time. Find someplace else if you value any sort of peace and quiet.
Fair price for the location, however this place would be much nicer if they hired better or more staff. The old maintenance guy quit a few months ago, he would always complain when fixing things in my apartment how he is the only guy for 200 apartments. No wonder it takes weeks to get things fixed. Also when moving in they don't fix any issues, after a while you just give up and learn to deal with minor maintenance issues or fix it yourself. Minimal cleaning when moving in, be prepared to clean for 3 days. The trash bins are always overflowing, dog poop everywhere, dogs off their leashes running at you when walking to your car. Speeders are a huge issue and they threaten to ticket with passive aggressive letters to everyone like how all issues here seem to be handled but all they do is put up a massive speed bump that you have to stop for for a few days. My car has been hit in this parking lot. I can never have the windows open due to the constant cigarette smoke wafting in. Hallways are scratched up, never painted in two years so far. Theres always been a weird odor in the buildings, and smells of marijuana. Honestly if you can deal with all this go for it, but my advice: find better complexes here in Ankeny for the same price. Lived here for two years and no more.
It was build poorly and is maintained poorly. You get drafts coming through the house from the doors and fireplace. I had ice on my apartment floor this winter because of it. Never told maintenance because whenever you have a problem it takes them several visits to get it fixed or until you decide to live with it and the property manager will get snotty with you because of it if you keep bugging them. I wish they’d invest in better main doors because you can hear through these so easily and they slam shut ALL the time. The place is covered in dog crap and cigarettes and commonly smells like weed but that’s improving. Other than that the location and size of the apartments for the money are excellent just wish they would start some improvements and I wish they’d implement dog poop DNA testing like other apartments and fine people leaving dog poop.
I have lived here for two years an loving it. Great office staff an apartment is so nice. I would definitely recommend living here.
Wasted a year of my life here with my son! We lived on the top floor, which was nice not having anyone above us, but there is no elevator so if you break your leg you're out of luck! Everyone around us smoked so we could NEVER have our windows open unless you wanted to toxic aroma of cigarette smoke. I would complain about it to management and they didn't do anything about it even though they said they would address it and never did. Cigarettes littered the sidewalk so that was always a special treat for little kids in the complex. Our neighbor below us would shout profanities from his balcony up to mine if my 9 year old son was out there doing something. Everyone also got the disgusting glimpse of him in his underwear as well--I complained about that to management and he STILL continued to do it! Rent is expensive for what you get. You basically pay for rent THEN you have to pay for internet, cable, water, and electricity on top of the monthly payment--NOT WORTH IT! You also have to pay for a garage if you want that extra space--OH and you have to pay for the community room if you want to use that for a party or something, BOGUS! The pool comes with the rent fee...but I wouldn't trust it. The pool is really cold and not very big...also the hot tub jets never seemed to turn on and work properly--and we found a dead mouse in there once too. If you are looking for poor quality and poor management--then you've found the right place, Tradition Apartments.
Horrible management! We had a three bedroom for almost 2 years and the problems never stopped. When we first moved in There were DMACC students who lived below us and would throw loud (like feel it through the floor loud) parties all through the week we complained multiple times only to hear "We'll talk to them but really they're nice kids". The issue was not resolved until we called the police. Then after a roommate change they charged the former roommate who was no longer on the lease for his share of the rent through automatic deposit. As if this isn't bad enough they told him that there was no way to refund him. It wasn't until we threatened to involve lawyers that they found a way to make it work. One would think after that they would have removed his information and discontinued the automatic withdraws...nope. It took them months to correct the issue. They were impossible to get a hold of half the time. The pool and clubhouse are filthy. There is a problem with the wiring. Sometimes there would be a popping sound and all the power would shut off and turn back on. Light bulbs would frequently blow out and the kitchen sink leaked so bad it ruined the cabinet. Which brings me to maintenance; another nightmare. We once went 2 weeks without a washer and drier. When the guy finally showed up he was there for a few minutes fiddling around then left and didn't come back for a week. Not to mention our unanswered complaints of the aforementioned sink and light bulbs. Overall I'd say at the price these apartments are you can easily find a better place. They didn't set the bar...they buried it.
Tradition apartments are beautiful! The ladies in the office are very nice and are always willing to help you with anything. It is also in a great location!
Very well maintained apartments. Management is very easy going and will go out of your way to help you.
