Outer Red Bank is situated on the west side of Highway 27 just north of Mountain Creek just outside the heart of Red Bank, one of Chattanooga’s most popular neighborhoods. You’ll find amazing homes bursting with character and apartment communities with plenty of amenities and views of the mountains just six miles outside Downtown Chattanooga. This section of Red Bank remains more affordable than that which is closer to the city, but residents of Outer Red Bank are still close to all the conveniences and amenities. There’s an amazing array of restaurants along Dayton Boulevard, including bakeries, Italian eateries, barbecue spots, and coffee shops. Downtown Chattanooga is barely a 20-minute drive south, making Outer Red Bank great for families or anyone looking for an attractive rental just outside the city.

Property Ratings at Trails of Signal Mountain
We wanted to be in this specific area, and everything else was overpriced for what you got, IMO. My townhouse is super cute and in a great area. Not to mention the maintenance guys, they're super helpful. We've been here 2 years now and we are happy we chose the Trails.

The Trails has been home to me for the past year and I could not be happier. I love my apartment and the office staff has been so great to me! The maintenance has been great too they address my issues very quickly.

Thank you for the positive review! We are so glad you love the Trails as much as we do! -The Treails Team
I'm giving a 5 star because I love my little apartment!! There are several apartments in the surrounding area that are new or remodeled, but a lot more expensive. These are very affordable and you can't get any better location-wise. They are older, so keep that in mind moving in. All things aside, they are cute and the natural surroundings are BEAUTIFUL! Great for people that are outdoorsey like myself. The girls in the office are super sweet and helpful when it comes to any needs I have for my apartment. I highly recommend this complex!

Thank you for your review and recommendation! We are so glad you are enjoying your apartment and the gorgeous backdrop of Signal Mountain. The staff is thrilled to be apart of what you love about your home!
I don’t understand why this place has 4 our 5 star review with all the bad reviews but here is another one. If you are considering these apartments...don’t. Like all of the other reviews here I’ve had the same problems. Carol in the office is fantastic and so sweet and nice. That’s the only good thing. We seen the model unit and requested numerous times to see the actual apartment we were moving into. They never let us until the day we got the keys. -A few days after we moved in cockroaches and centipedes started showing up. These are huge cockroaches and they are everywhere. -You pay a pest fee but I’ve never seen any pest control and we have lived here almost a year. -Every faucet/shower head leaks water. -Our dishwasher stopped working and it took a little over a month until it was fixed. The dishwasher still leaves dishes dirty so we just hand wash. -Since we have moved in my husband and I have both stayed sick with respiratory problems. -I’ve never seen the black mold but I’m assuming it’s there with all the leaky faucets and respiratory problems. -I loved the apartment because it was bigger and cheaper than what we had before. It’s also in a great location. The walls are thick and I never hear my neighbors but the bad outweighs the good.

I really wanted these aparentments to work out but they are just old and prone to issues. I complained about roaches and they said, “oh those are just palmettos” as if it’s no big deal. Bugs are bugs especially big ones invading your home. We are currently in our second unit and have had mold issues with both. There are bad water spots and they may “fix” them but the issues are still there. The maintenance staff and Carol are the only good things these apaprtments have going for them. The office manager, Robin is horrible to deal with. She doesn’t apologize for any issues you are having and just stares at you like you are crazy to be complaining. I basically had to beg her to live into a different unit after we came home to 12 leaks and mold spots in our apartment. She did not care. Spend a little more money for something a little newer. I promise it will be worth it.

I really wish I could give this 5 stars, but I can’t. I can give the office staff 5 stars. They were all very friendly and easy to work with, especially Carol. Our interactions with her and the rest of the staff were always pleasant. We loved the size and style of our apartment and the complex is very centrally located, which we appreciated. My largest complaint has to do with a major maintenance issue. After a weekend of heavy rainfall last spring, we came home from church and discovered serious leaks in our upstairs bathroom and guest bedroom – steady streams of water out of light fixtures, sagging ceiling, water down the walls, etc. I was seriously concerned the guest bedroom ceiling was going to collapse. We notified the maintenance staff and they were quick to respond for initial relief, sent someone to soak up water from the carpet, and fixed the roof promptly when the rain stopped. However, for the next almost eight months that we lived in the apartment, the interior damage was never fixed, despite repeated inquiries, and the complex even sending out a crew and contractors last fall to assess the damage months after it happened. I was told then the work was approved (finally) and they just needed to set a date for it and would be in contact with me. I never heard anything else. After a few weeks passed, my husband and I were successful in house hunting and by that point I just gave up because it didn’t matter anymore. I am convinced the damage had led to mold which was making us sick. We’re both rarely sick and I cycled through colds and sinus infections last fall every few weeks. Now that we’re in our own home, I’m back to my usual health. What most bugged me about the issue is that our apartment was next to the model unit. Because of that, when the leaking started, we suggested to the maintenance staff that they check next door as well since no one lived there. It was a mess, and the maintenance man thanked us for alerting him to the possibility. Obviously, the model unit was repaired promptly, while our apartment was untouched. Secondly, I can echo other complaints about the roaches. I understand the apartments are located at the base of a mountain in the woods, but I still don’t feel like quite enough was done to try to combat the issue. I bought some roach traps myself, but we still saw them regularly.
As other users have described we had mold and maintenance simply came in and sprayed cleaner on the mold and did nothing more. I couldn't tell you where the mold came from as we were in a top floor apartment. The other review mentioning the roaches is completely accurate as well. We had armies of them in our apartment and throughout the building. It was complained about and supposedly treated. We were told they would bomb the house so we spent hours emptying cabinets and took the animals out of the hours for the required four hours only to find out they only sprayed instead of bombed. The staff is friendly enough. Carol is a sweet woman but the new apartment manager there isn't so friendly. The maintenance takes days to get to you and still does not fix anything correctly. When Matt was there things got done, but he was let go and the maintenance has gone down hill. Kyle is a nice guy but he's probably overworked. Our smoke detector was never put back on the wall once it was having issues beeping for no reason, our porch light never worked and it was terribly dark when using the stairs at night. The homeless of Chattanooga know they can access the dumpsters and are there regularly dumpster diving. When we first moved in our cars were gone through and stuff stolen out of the cars. When it was reported we were told they never had that issue and then just a few months later low and behold an email was sent out about how more cars had been broken into and so had one of the apartments. The prices are reasonable for the space you get in the units but the issues with the roaches and mold are just too much. And unless you are quiet as a church mouse the older neighbors will complain. We are glad to be gone, paying less for a bigger place now. I wouldn't recommend anyone living here unless you can handle the roaches and mold.
MOLD!!!!! To start I lived there for two years and had multiple doctor visits due to respiratory infections due to mold. Called about the mold and they came in sprayed a chemical on it which did not get rid of the mold and did not resolve the root of the issue which was what seemed to be a leak in the ceiling. In addition, you pay monthly for pest control but we had to buy our own Roach prevention to stave back the army of roaches. Lastly, when we left we were advised if there were any additional charges they would reach out to us regarding the charges. A little more than 30 days after we moved out I get a call from a collection agency letting me know Trails turned me over to collections with $896 worth of charges. It took multiple calls to Trails to try and get an itemized statement (still have not recieved one), and even then any questions we had they referred us to the collection agency opposed to answering them personally. To this day we do not have a clear answer on why we didn't receive a bill, phone call, or email letting us know there where charges before turning it in collections. So unless you want to spend copious amounts of money on random things that should be covered by the complex and consistent sickness due to MOLD, then I do not recommend the complex.
My wife and I moved into the Trails in September of last year. After three months and much complaining we were, more or less, forced to move out of the apartment due to poor maintenance and numerous excuses for not taking care of problems. The air handler for the apartment next to ours was on our roof and made so much noise we were unable to utilize the bedrooms upstairs. The dishwasher did not work properly and was never repaired, the window screens were torn and not taken care of properly. Now they want us to pay for another months rent for the apartment. We would have still been there if they were responsible landlords and took care of the property. I advise anybody thinking about this area to check things out very carefully and make sure all things are taken care of prior to moving in, because once you are there you are stuck!!! My next step is to contact an attorney and see about suing the company. BEWARE OF THIS PROPERTY!!!!
These apartments have been white washed you see the "new" appliances and think oh wow this place is fairly new. WRONG. These buildings are old. The buildings shift everytime it rains. The doors wont close. They refuse to replace the doors. The walls are not insulted and the windows aren't sealed well either, if Dan and Martha are having an argument next door you know about it and I spend more money heating and cooling the outside then I do my own living space. It took them 3 weeks or better to finally "fix" my ac unit which looks like its pre WWII. There's a dog park that we can't use because no one picks up after their dog dispite there being bag stations everywhere. And its not just in the dog park. The dogs little presents are everywhere. Whatever you do, do not move here.
