Property Ratings at Trinity at the Hill
Because of the quality of attention and the good service to the residents, the neighbors are really good people, it’s clean and it’s a safe place for everybody.
The management for nice and helpful. They help me understand what unit was best for me and my family. I'm enjoying the scenery of the trees. The Neiborhood is quite.
I have been living at Trinity since Feb 2022. Generally it is a very comfortable place to live! Management has gone through some changes over the past few years, which has been rough at times, but I get the impression that the current team is trying their best. I love having the dog park right outside my apartment, and recently I called management to let them know the dog park gates were broken and the dog wastebins overfilled (brief problem, only ~1 week) and they fixed it the next day. It is a little pricey to live here, but generally worth it in my opinion.
I love the apartment and the natural setting is so beautiful but the neighbors above me have made my experience here fall so very short of my expectations. So many of the residents also just throw their trash wherever they want, off the balconies, right next to the dumpster, in the parking lot, in the recycling bins and due to these reasons, I won't be renewing my lease. The apartment itself is beautiful, so if you are lucky and have respectful neighbors, you could be very happy here.
Un lugar muy tranquilo pero el único problema es que no atienden las órdenes de mantenimiento y pest control. Así que espero de verdad que en algún momento mejoren.
The community needs better property upkeep (outside and inside) along with more stringent littering policies in place. More consistent landscaping for better curb appeal. The trash can service for outside the front door needs to be removed as it only allows an opportunity for animals to rummage through giving roaches more reason to be present.
Great place to live all new pool and area kept clean Convenient location to area amenities spacious apartments and Great staff that takes care of everything
The staff seem great, but the urgency to tenant comfort in their home or urgency in having things fixed is terrible. We waited 2 weeks to move my dad in, upon coming into the home, no hot water, there is a hole in the wall, the AC does not work. It took them a few days to send somebody in that only checked the breaker box. But I mentioned to them it’s working and blowing air just not cold air which has the home at 78 degrees. It’s so uncomfortable in the home that we are paying for. It was full of webs and spiders but we were told the home was cleaned. It’s just seems in order to have things done you’ll have to reach the cooperate office.
The area and surrounds are very quaint. Easy access to shops, restaurants, and freeway access. I love the deck and French doors that are in the units.
I have just moved in but the process was so easy and seamless. I love my new apartment it's extremely comfortable and well laid out. The neighborhood is quiet and safe. I couldn't be happier with my decision to be here.
Management has been par at best. Our unit smells like smoke. Lots of things don’t work and maintenance hasn’t fixed them yet. Pretty disappointed. Besides these things our unit is nice and the area is quiet.
Everyone has been very helpful and responsive. They are willing to help out when necessary. The unit renovations went long and were still taking place during move in but have communicated with me the entire way.
Buena con falta del gimnasio y piscina pero esta trabajando en ello necesita regodearse más frecuente pero es un vecindario tranquilo y silencioso
It has not been fantastic. Maintenance is extremely slow to fix issues like a leaking kitchen sink. Dumpster areas are a disgusting mess with rotting garbage all over the area. The pool has been waiting for an inspection to open for over a month.
Virginia and staff did a wonderful job helping us relocate from Florida and we love the community Sincerely Kristen Thank you for everything
I have a lot of mold in the ceiling in my living room. When it rains the ceiling leaks. The mold has been in the living room ceiling for the two years. The ceiling leak has been an issue for about a year. There is somuch mold! A crack was patched and then another leak developed. I have been told by maintenance that this issue is due to a leak from the porch/balcony on the 2nd floor of my unit. My issue is the unit not being properly maintained after several active work orders and calls about this issue. This is terrible!!!
they have real BAD Pest issues and they charge you extra for pest control and they dont ever come. You literally have to call the front office over 50 times to get an answer and they dont respond to emails. The maintenance men are very flirtatious and unprofessional and all of the applicances in the house will break or give out on you in a few weeks. I will never suggest anyone to move here honestly
Horrible management and pest issues. It’s also been 1 month and I still don’t have internet. You have to call 5-10 times before reaching someone on the other line. Don’t bother leaving a voicemail because they don’t check those. This is the worst place I’ve ever lived. Please don’t make the same mistake as so many of us already living here.
What you see is not what you get. 1 star is way too much for the quality of the apartments. I lived there from 5/2019 thru 5/2021 and that was only due to the pandemic. The management may be good to new people coming in, but were non-responsive to my many emails (with video and photos) about the 5 leaks in my living room and the 2 leaks in the downstairs bedroom. The leaks started on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 10 (a few days after the removal of the siding). I went to the office on Oct. 12th to inform Amy (property manager) of the leaks and was told that it was not the responsibility of her maintenance team (1 person) to fix the leaks, it was for the construction company (THS) to fix. I sent an email to Amy every time it rained to show her how bad the leaks were getting. After never receiving a response, I went to the office to speak to her in person. She acknowledged that she received my emails and passed them on to corporate and there was nothing else she could do. By the time I moved out in May, the leak was 100 times worse. Problems at this property have been going on since before I moved in. The reviews don't lie. They changed the name from 180 West because all of the bad reviews, but never did anything to make the property better, other than replace the siding. The outside may look pretty, but the construction caused further damage to the interior of the apartments. There may be some good reviews because they were offering incentives for reviews.
lived here 6 years+ property so unsafe, neglected now, building fire. wiring without permits, remodel that removed vents. snakes everywhere. our calls go unanswered. we just got a 2nd maintenance worker for a 200 unit complex. bills are not itemized and forced through an online only system, so your resident portal hides added fees, inaccurate water bills. water bills are charged through an intermediary so submeters are maintained (or rather, not) through the company rather than the local water OWASA. our submeter has not worked for 2 years, water bills over $200 hidden in our account. Late fees posted on the 4th, even tho we paid & grace period is through the 5th anyway. Rent charged twice, eviction threatened post fire. Wires hang from vacant upstairs balconies. Construction equipment, paint, caulking, rusty nails everywhere. Aggressive towing. Holes in our walls from the slapdash facelift they did while we were quarantined, while the stairs rotted outside. 4 people have fallen through stairs in a few years. After forced, they've fixed the most essential. But they spent $$$ on a mural by the pool, a hammock park. The dog park is built upon the remains of a building that burnt down in 2007. Every time it rains, glass&debris surface. The fencing has lost many nuts and bolts, it barely holds itself up. The upgrades were done thoughtlessly and while neglecting residents & basic upkeep. That caused a fire in our building. This has been my home for over 6 years, Audubon made this place not safe anymore. Smoke detectors dont work. Fire extinguishers are not in cases, some just on the ground outside. Some buildings have less than half of their fire extinguishers up to protocol. there's a birds nest in the dog poop bag station, so theres dog poop everywhere. they removed the numbers for our apartments so they could paint, and some buildings seem to just not have gotten their apartment number placards. We went months without one and had to chalk our address on the door so packages could be delivered. The property is maintained as if residents do not have lives that matter. If you are in a part of the property that is getting constructed on, expect construction work 9-6, with the possibility of drywall falling on your face as a wake up call because most of us have damage to our homes as a result of the "renovations." This place is a tinderbox full of snakes now. don't be fooled.
There is absolutely nothing excellent about this place. The staff here are negligent, ignorant, and dismissive. There are also roaches in the parking lot.
Amy has been heaven sent since becoming new management. She is very understanding, courteous, and all around a great personality to have as a community manager. She makes you comfortable being able to come to her and will work diligently to assist you with any inquires or dilemmas that may occur. Because of her I truly see the progress that has been made. I love the new renovations and the location is so convenient. All in all, new management is turning this place around it’s a really nice place to stay.
I had issues with my bank and they were willing to work with me. I love the staff and love the environment. It's a very friendly and safe place to reside.
For two years I have been living here and management was horrible! Having Amy as our new manager is surely a breath of fresh air. I love the remodeling that's being done to the place. She very respectful and take my concerns seriously. She is what this place needed.
I have lived in the apartment for approximately 7 months and it is easily the worst place I have ever lived. For starters, they were completely misleading when I moved in by showing me one place and then switching me to a new place at the last minute, which wasn't as nice. That was partially my fault because I waited until the last minute to find a place. When I moved in the air conditioner went out almost immediately (in the middle of August) and was not fixed for almost a month. The first water bill i received was 160 dollars because the apartment had a toilet leak and they made me cover the expense. The maintenance man came into my apartment while I was at work and broke some of my things and did not even leave a note or tell anyone, and the office is refusing to acknowledge an email i have sent multiple times about it. Now, for the final but probably most important feature about the place is that you will become very comfortable living with the thousands of roaches that will share the apartment with you. Pest control has come, but there is just too many and will never get rid of them all. I do not keep a dirty place and there are constantly hundreds of them in sight. I would advise you to not rent here because you will certainly regret it.
Water is running from my walls since the day I moved in and they never fixed it, now that they are renovating the outside (to look good but inside is horrible and they don't care) I can see how the wood is rotten and miss some part of it, that is why the water comes down. Surely mold there. Awful manager, she is super rude and disrespectful. Now they want to charge extra for everything. They were charging for the valet trash and they didn't come never to pick the trash up.
Huge mold problem !! They charge you a valet trash & pest fee lol trashman never comes by either does the guy who suppose to spray the manager Amy is very disrespectful and doesn’t address any issues my heat was out for 3 weeks and they acted like they didn’t even care they will also trick you they will show you a new renovated apartment but put you in a old one instead I have warps on my wall they did nothing about it also the maintenance man left blood on my door and wiped it with his hands ??
I've been moved in since August and so far I enjoy the location, environment and the management staff. My neighbors are nice and welcoming and the area is very quiet! I also admire how quick the management staff addresses any issues I have.
I just recently moved into my new spacious renovated unit and when I say it’s nice , I mean exactly that! I’ve been staying here for over 3years now and yes management was horrible but the new staff is GREAT! Amy the property manager is very friendly and easy to talk and Joey is also super sweet and very friendly and knowledgeable of his job! I love it here
Work orders left open, money mismanagement, lease agreements not followed, amenities poor and poorly cared for. All you need to do is a drive by and look along the property with the signs falling down and you'll understand how this place is run.
I love the new property manger. I was thinking about leaving the property due to the property mangers we went through in the past but I’m glad to say I will be renewing my lease !
its excellent because the apartments are very nice and the customer service is great and they make everyone feel like a community.

Thank you so much for your kind words about Trinity at the Hill! We are so happy to see that you are having the five-star experience that we always strive for and we look forward to continuing to provide you with the exceptional service that you deserve. Thanks again! -Trinity at the Hill Team
I have lived at trinity hill (formerly 180 west) for almost 9 years. In that time I have experienced management teams that have not been very responsive to our needs. However, at this time I am very hopeful with the new management team because they seem to be very responsive. And I see a lot of positive things happening.
I love the quiet serene and peaceful area this property is located on. Super quiet and super safe! We are assured by the friendly office staff that they are here to stay for the long term!
We absolutely love living here! Great location and school for our kids is adjacent and within walking distance of property. Very friendly maintenance and office staff!
I am very pleased with the new management here at Trinty at the Hill. They are far more efficient than the previous company. My 2 most recent work orders were handled efficiently. They have also begun renovations to the exterior of the buildings. New siding and window replacements. Looking good!!
The people here are so nice. Super friendly. The apartments are not so bad to live in. It's nice here.
I have lived here over a year now, the place is rundown and management has changed multiple times. They just switched ownership and management team at the end of the year again. They fired the entire maintenance crew and have one guy for 250 units. They have units without water, HVAC, and living with pests and black mold. These issues will not be fixed anytime soon. The new rent prices are outrageous and you are better off going somewhere else. They also charged every unit $100 for 3 months of water because they didn't send out water bills and had to cover their own butts with the bill they got from OWASA. I live by myself, I average $12-$15/month in water. Bottom line don't move here. I signed over a year long lease or I would already be gone.

This place is terrible. The property has been bought out 5 to 6x since I have been here. They never have the same employees week to week. The maintenance doesn't exist. There are roaches in all the buildings and complaints or needs fall on deaf ears. Nobody cares here. This place is a crap-hole!!!
Moved in several months ago, the management company has changed 3 times. I would not be here still if I could afford to buyout of my lease. - My AC goes out often, the system looks like it is probably 20 years old and has never been replaced. It sounds like an aircraft taking off outside my window. - My energy bills were over $170 for 5 months and are now over $220. I live alone in a 1/1. There is OBVIOUSLY something wrong. But they have not fixed it, in fact, even after reporting it in person and online, they still have not come out to do a high energy analysis. Piedmont Electric will not come out to the property unless requested by the community, but the community won't do a thing. - Have had a millipede infestation for over a month. Reported in person and online, still nothing done. They said they sent out pest control last week, but came home from work to kill 5 more. Woke up the next morning to kill another 4. I have to kill over a dozen EVERY DAY. - Found out recently, FROM TEMP EMPLOYEES, that everyone working here was fired or quit except for one manager and one maintenance person. The one maintenance person did not have HVAC certification. This is for a community of around 250 units. The manager was on vacation when I tried to go in to speak with them a couple weeks ago... - Charged monthly for valet trash pick up, but HALF of the times I have put it outside, they do NOT pick it up. I end up taking it to the dumpster myself. Why am I paying for this? - I've seen contractors around the community planting flowers, going around with leaf blowers, and spraying the roads (to clean them?)... So, why have they not hired contractors to come in and FIX THE MAINTENANCE ISSUES? If you put in a maintenance request, expect it to take 2 or 3 weeks MINIMUM before they come out, and most likely, they will not fix the issue and will have to come back another time... another 2 - 5 weeks later... ---------------------- ***In conclusion: Only rent here if it is the last place on earth and every other community has been destroyed by the apocalypse.
In all honesty, look somewhere else to live! You DO NOT want to live here! Everything about this place is HORRIBLE! The bugs, the office staff, maintenance, everything. Don’t get trapped here like I did! Look elsewhere!

Dear Sir or Madam, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We take the feedback on our social media and strive to use it to improve the experience of every resident. We always welcome emails and phone calls to be placed on our weekly pest control list, as many times as it takes to get the job done. Insofar as the leasing and maintenance staff, we do apologize if we've fallen short of your expectations in any way. If you would contact us at 180west@firstcommunities.com we would love to address any specific concerns or negative experiences you've had. We're here to listen! Thank you again for your review and we hope to hear from you soon.
My experience with 180 West so far has been phenomenal. The office staff has been so accommodating to me and made my move in a very smooth process. My apartment is beautiful and has two patios, that both overlook a beautiful view. I see myself staying here for a while. Thank you 180 West!
180 West is without a doubt the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. If I could give zero stars I would. The staff in the Leasing Office turns over constantly, and they have yet to have someone work there who cares about the concerns of the residents (i.e. fixing broken air conditioners, appliances, opening the pool in a reasonable time, etc.). My air conditioner was broken for over a month in May/June. They marked the online work order for it as completed before fixing it. They told me it was fixed and they had a video showing air blowing from a vent at 60 degrees. I asked three people to see the video (the maintenance worker who told me this, a leasing agent, and the manager). None of them could produce the video. They would come out and say what they thought was wrong with it, try to fix that, and it still wouldn’t work. Over and over again. Other residents went months without a working a/c. There is mold on all my window sills, and around the air handler for the heat pump and the water heater. I asked the leasing agent to clean it up when we did the walk through before moving in. Never happened. All the outside walls and siding are rotting. Mold is everywhere. Someone crashed a car into the front of building S before I moved in four months ago and it still hasn’t been fixed. My closet door fell off. It was broken before I moved in and I showed the leasing agent who did the walk through with me. Still took them three months to show up to fix it. The pool didn’t open until the end of June. This is the second year in a row that happened. The pool is now open, but has brown rust type stains on the walls of the pool. Gross. There are several doggie stations that have been without poop bags for approximately a month. I have asked the leasing staff to fill them (twice). Never happened. So, big stuff, small stuff, doesn’t matter.
The maintenance of this complex is terrible and is only getting worse. I have not had a working AC unit for TWO MONTHS, despite frequent visits to the leasing office. There is currently only one maintenance person for the entire complex. I'm repeatedly told by the leasing office and the maintenance person that there is nothing they can do to provide a functioning AC unit as there are over a dozen other critical maintenance issues that also need attention. While very nice and personable, the leasing office staff has turned over twice in the last 7 months and they won't take any accountability for resolving maintenance issues. Also, the pool has yet to open and it's nearly July 4th. I never leave negative reviews, but I felt anyone considering a rental property in Carrboro in the near future should be aware of this complex's extremely poor maintenance record. Hopefully the property management team will turn itself around and be able provide the basic maintenance that renters expect to receive.
I recently moved into this complex and it was an extremely pleasant experience. The process was straight to the point, and the group in the office (Beneetta, and Christine I think?) made my move very easy. I was able to get a great rate for the apartment that included several different options like a washer/dryer and a fireplace! I visited the unit, did most of the paperwork online, and so far I am very satisfied with this choice!
I have lived at this community for 5 years now. Management has changed over the years, with some good and some bad. The current management and staff have pleased me so much. I just transferred into one of the new upgrades 2 bedrooms apartments and I love it. I am so happy.
They recently had a change in management, and the new staff are amazing!!
I drove by randomly looking for 3 beds for rent and I was very surprise.Felicia and Lawrensine went above my expectations and answered all my questions.Without scheduled an appointment, they drove me around to see all the available apartments/townhouses.It will be definitely a place to live. Thanks again. AD
Location is fantastic! I'm close to everything I need!
This is an amazing location for anyone associated with UNC-Chapel Hill. The complex has no less than 4 different bus stops spaced throughout the complex on a route that comes every 15-20 minutes (which is about as fast as the Chapel Hill transit system runs) and can get you to campus in less than 15-30 minutes, depending on what part of campus you are getting off at. You are less than 10 minutes from downtown Chapel Hill, with great food and entertainment, and 5 minutes from downtown Carrboro which has little bit of a hippie vibe, but in a good way (and free parking!). However, you will pay a little more living on this side of Carrboro. The prices here are in line with the other complexes nearby, and even a little lower, but still noticeably higher than the northern end of Carrboro. Don't be afraid to negotiate though. I've successfully negotiated my rent down every year I've been here. The office staff is generally very nice and helpful. One time, they even got one of the guys in the office to drive my package up to my apartment and help me get it inside since it was furniture and way too heavy for me on my own. And there is even an answering service that works when the office is closed, which is helpful when you run into problems after hours or on holidays or Sundays. And they have done quite a bit of renovating in the last few years, even putting a large BBQ grill in the pool area. Overall, I'd recommend!
