Property Ratings at Trolley Park Lofts
I’ve lived here for four years now it’s finally time for me to leave my review. This building and the management company that runs it are comical at best and infuriating at its worst. Just this last year we consistently went without hot water for months and it’s such a regular issue that we’ve become used to it at this point. The building is in near complete disrepair, windows and ceilings that are incredibly drafty, regular mold problems, and facilities that are completely neglected. The elevators are unsafe and regularly out of commission same can be said for the laundry facilities. I’ve been gaslit by management on every single one of these issues each time I’ve tried getting something fixed. I’ve heard everything from “we’re doing what we can” aka nothing at all, to “we had no clue this was an issue” after I’ve reported something several times. Maintenance workers have told me they can’t fix some things because they don’t have the tools or materials, which is insane considering the rent we pay. They should have everything they need to keep this building running. Of all things to break the camels back, the building security has completely broken down resulting in stollen packages left and right. This week a very important package of mine was stolen and the management admitted to me that they couldn’t do anything about it because the cameras weren’t even properly pointed at the mail area. They then told me I should just have my packages shipped to the board and trade building. They’d rather me walk across town every time I need to get a package instead of addressing the issues the whole building is facing. When we first moved into the building it was a lovely place to live since at the time there was a property manager located on site and she did a great job of supporting the buildings needs. Since then, they’ve closed her office and management completely neglects this building in favor of their other properties. If you were thinking about living here I wouldn’t recommend it. Every month this building gets worse, and the rent goes up every year.
I was living here since a year and then I decided to not renew my lease for another year for some reasons which I will state later. ............ So, why I did move here? - It's on the edge of downtown, pretty quiet to be honest if you re in downtown area, I personally liked that - Apartments look super beautiful with tall ceilings, red brick walls and golden-wooden roofs with pipes running all over. Trust me it's one of the best looking lofts in KCMO - Tall loft windows - Ceiling-hanging utensil holder - Big kitchen than other communities I could find that time - 1.5 Bathrooms ............ Things I had to compromise on when I moved in? - If you wanna park free you need to park a block away coz every nearby parking is timed. - Expensive surface parking - Standing and small 1 bathroom, though half bathroom is pretty nice with dryer/washer in it and great for guests who come in - No granite counter tops, I ve come to realize kitchen though big size looks pretty cheap compared to other options - Closet space is really-really small in the bedroom though you ve an additional small closet in living room ............ Why I moved out from here? - Over the months I realized I can hear almost every things my neighbors talk or do - Apartment is really bad for winter insulation, loft windows are really poor and floors are separated by blocks of wood so there's no perfect insulation (sound or air) between the floors - Plumbing is a big problem in this building as it's really old. It's pretty hard to get the right amount of hot water while taking shower, coz the hotness keeps changing even if you dont move the knobs - Dont dare to drink tap water - Bathroom felt really small for day-to-day use - The gym in the building is poorly equipped - If you wanna use KCLoftCentral eminities, you need to pay a one $100 extra and you need to walk to their leasing office building in downtown to use their gym, club, office space or pool
This place looks amazing as soon as you walk inside. The ceilings are wood, the exterior walls are brick, and the bathroom and kitchen floors are "wood". That is what I was told when I moved in. The kitchen and bathroom are cheap vinyl, which is fine, but I wish they didn't lie about it. The worst part is the thin ceilings and floors. I got yelled at at least once a week by my downstairs neighbor for being too loud in the afternoon for watching TV, and I promise you I do not keep my TV on loud. I can hear my upstairs neighbor crystal clear. I can listen to every conversation they have if I wanted to. I sleep with a fan now to block out the noise. The hot water is terrible, I have gotten used to taking cold showers, and it never gets better. In addition to this you have to pay $70-$90 for parking each month. So it is your decision, but if I were to make it again, you would have to pay me each month to stay here.
