The historic Brewer’s Hill neighborhood contains some of the oldest houses and buildings in the city of Milwaukee. Mansions built from the heyday of beer brewing stand next to quaint cottages in this architecturally varied neighborhood. Brewer’s Hill sits on a prominent bluff north of downtown along the Milwaukee River. Brewer’s Hill has begun shifting from an industrial community to a picturesque, family-friendly neighborhood with homes and condos with city views.
And because Brewer’s Hill is on the rise, the local breweries, bars, and businesses are too. From Lakefront Brewery to Uncle Wolfie’s Breakfast Tavern, the establishments in this town evoke a unique charm. This neighborhood is ideal for craft beer enthusiasts, downtown commuters, and students attending one of the universities nearby. Craft brews, a close-knit community, tree-lined streets, well-kept lawns, walkable streets, and picture-worthy residential neighborhoods await you in Brewer’s Hill.

Property Ratings at Trostel Square
I've lived here for several years, and the spacious apartments and nice location drew me in. Unfortunately many things have drew me out: -Management does not communicate nor take care of things. -The elevator was broken for 2+ months, and only after many weeks did we get any notice about it or anything being done to fix it. -There was a break-in inside the garage because of an unsecured door to the outside. Management never notified us, a resident had to make their own signs and put them in the elevator and on each floor. -If you need to dispose of anything large (furniture), you’re on your own. The office will not arrange anything (even with their existing waste disposal services) and the city has told me that they (the property) are responsible for these pickups, not covered by the city. -General lack of consideration for their residents in the decisions they make, things are worse now than 2 years ago, but we’re paying more than ever. Why? -Rent increases yearly with no justification, over the past 2 years rent has increased 12% for me despite being told rent increases were “negligible” during a tour of the complex. No improvements or renovations have been done in this time - the property continues to get dirtier and management does nothing. The halls regularly have trash in them and more stains appear weekly. Bottom line: There are far better managed properties with similar accommodations & apartments for less, even on the same street. A high-potential complex spoiled by bad management. I will not stay anywhere managed by Inland Real Estate - they’re the root of the problem.
By far one of the best locations in Milwaukee - right on the river, central to Water, Brady. Unfortunately it’s completely overshadowed by terrible management with no accountability. A few examples of this that occurred within the span of our 1 year lease: -Broken elevator for two months with no official email communication shared until 6 weeks in. Management tapes computer paper to the doors as their preferred communication method. -Two billing systems that share two different monthly charges - DO NOT SET UP AUTO PAY. -Mail and car theft (in lobby and underground parking garage) that goes unreported and is not communicated to residents. -Unsafe as entry from one parking lot door doesn't require badge access. This was brought up multiple times to management and our concerns were ignored. -Trash and recycling bins are left full for weeks and left in the middle of the alley blocking cars Bottom line: Save yourself the headache. DO NOT RENT HERE.

I have lived at Trostel for the past 3 years. The previous management and maintenance staff were fantastic. However, in the past 3 months alone the front office has let their building fall into disarray. Multiple break ins, poor physical security, armed robberies, and no communication from management. Building infrastructure is poor and management somehow justifies a rent increase every year. This will be my last year living here. A word of advice, do not rent.

I have it three stars because there is both bad and good. There are no security cameras and because of our location we had several incidents of cars being broken into, stolen, or windows just being smashed. Happened several times with no solution. Management is fine, sometimes unapproachable, unknowledgeable, and difficult to work with. It’s expensive to live here and they raised our rent after a year of living there and continuing to raise rent. It is super dog friendly and a great community of other residents. So if you have a little dog go perfect spot for you. Rooms are generously sized. Washer and dry are eh but awesome to be in unit. I enjoyed my time living here but I’m happy to be going off on new adventures.

Loved out stay at Trostel Square from move in to moving out. My wife and I along with our animals felt like this was community with great neighbors and access to downtown without being right in the heart of it. The units had the most space you can have for the cheapest price in the city which was a huge selling point. Having a dog was great since there was a little play area out front and being able to do the river walk was a bonus. Karen and Sarah were great and took care of all our needs. Highly recommend if you are looking downtown since you will not be disappointed!!!

Trostel Square is a perfect place to live and it's convenient if you need access to downtown Milwaukee. My unit is beautiful, clean and very spacious. Not only is management and staff very responsive and friendly, they are concerned with making me feel right at home. If you need a luxury apartment with reasonable rates, this is for you! I absolutely love my new home!

Hi, Thank you for your five star rating of Trostel Square! We are happy to hear you love living in our community!
The positive reviews were from before the current management (Inland) took over. The current management is unresponsive and negative. There have been good assistant mangers three but they do not last. They are after your money and do not have an interest in resident satisfaction.

Do you like getting your packages stolen at least once a month? Do you like having to wait over a week for a recessed light (the only light in the living room) to be replaced....and have to call the office twice to get it done? Do you want to have a revolving door of workers in the office? Then Trostel Square is the place for you!! I can't wait to move out when my lease is up!

My daughter moved into this complex at the beginning of August. The apartment was supposed to be newly renovated. The washing machine did not work. A brand new microwave did not work. They have been stringing her along since then about a part they are waiting on and have refused to just replace it or adjust her rent in any way for not having a microwave for her. Called again today and got the same song and dance. It's been a month and a half. I would not recommend dealing with this management company to anyone.

Hi, Thanks for your honest review. It's our job to provide happy, comfortable homes. Our top priority is our residents, and we are sorry if this has not been your daughter's experience. Please have your her call us directly at (414) 372-0970 so we can help improve her living situation.
When it was a nice place to live when it was managed by Mandell. Mandell had friendly and professional staff. Under Inland Management there is a revolving door of on-site managers. This past weekend the recycling dumpsters were missing, creating a huge pile of bottles and boxes in the garage. The landscaping has been a downgrade from previous years. I hear that moving out is a nightmare. I the person who checks yo out may tell you that all is well and later your security deposit will get dinged. Believe this, one former resident was charged a trash disposal fee for leaving shower curtain rings for the next resident!! It may be less expensive than other nearby apartments, but you pay.

Hi, We're sorry that we've fallen short of your expectations. Please give us a chance to make things right by calling the leasing office or stopping by in person. Thank you.
Great price for the location. The staff is always helpful and quick to respond to questions or concerns. Its easy to get a parking spot for the weekend if people from out of town are comming.
This is by far the best place I've lived in all my life. The staff is there for you 24/7 and will help you out with practically anything. I never had anything broken in my place for less than a day, it gets fixed immediately. The place itself is very clean and secure. Wonderful party room and a gym. The location is perfect. It is walking distance to shops, bars, restaurants and more. I would recommend this to everyone!!
