“Great location” doesn’t do this lively neighborhood justice. South Lake Union resides in a pristine location on the shore of Lake Union to the north and off the coast of Elliot Bay to the west. Situated just two miles from downtown Seattle, South Lake Union offers beautiful bayside and lakeside views, a scenic cityscape, and access to everything Seattle has to offer.
Nestled directly east of the Space Needle, Seattle Children’s Museum, Museum of Pop Culture, Memorial Stadium and more, this neighborhood is bikeable and walkable to some of Seattle’s greatest attractions. Aside from its location, South Lake Union offers immense perks. Just take a trip to Lake Union Park for access to 12 acres of lakefront property with a boat launch, beautiful walkways, and the Museum of History & Industry, or experience of one its incredible local restaurants.

Property Ratings at True North
Quiet and excellent living in the middle of downtown Seattle and two minutes away from South Lake enjoyment.
Excellent management, marvelous residents, lovely place to live
The management team is very friendly, helpful and professional. The building is clean and quiet.
True North is great! The location is perfect and the management team is super responsive to any issues.
If you have the money to spend, this is a pretty good place with nice amenities when they’re not renovating them, pretty secure, unless someone leaves the garage door open for anyone to come inside, staff are friendly though. Overall it’s a decent place, just expensive.
I have had a great experience so far at True North. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and make an effort to be part of the community here. There are so many features that make living here so easy - for example, trash chutes on each floor, amazon hubs, fitness center, parking garage, and GREAT restaurants on the block. Keep up the great work!
Perks and amenities of this apartment complex are the prime SLU location, the rooftop deck, the multiple fitness facilities, the in-house Amazon lockers, and electric car chargers which are located in the secure parking garage! That being said, the main fitness room is undergoing renovation and has been for over a month with no clear completion date in sight. The electric car chargers, according to what the assistant manager told me, have not yet been installed. It is also worth mentioning that while the management staff are nice people, they have consistently conducted themselves unprofessionally in ways that have made my residency unnecessarily stressful; including but not limited to making errors in legally binding contracts with the expectation that I correct them on their behalf. Furthermore, me and my move-in crew waited downstairs in the lobby on move-in day (a day everyone knows is already stressful enough) for a total of 2 hours to acquire a working elevator fob despite having reserved an elevator in advance and having paid all of my due expenses in advance. We watched other incoming residents move their entire truck loads of items in before even being able to begin to unload ours. Management did nothing to rectify the situation and barely even apologized; pathetic. Lastly, beware because they will try and scam you by overcharging you for things (i.e. additional cat rent is $15 per month and they tried to charge me $25 per month, which ia what they charge for dogs) so be sure to do your research! Provided that none of that matters to a potential resident, I highly recommend leasing an apartment here. The views of downtown from the roof are fantastic and the high ceilings are lovely!
True North gives you a true home! It is a place of refuge after a hike into the city or the forest. The amenities offered in the building and in neighboring buildings brings a great sense of community.
Amazing management team! Safe and convenient location. I did a lot of research and I would choose living here 11/10 times.
Does not have AC. Gets unbearably hot in here. Hallways are air conditioned but we not allowed to open our doors to let some cool air in. Even so, the temperature in the hallways is adjusted on hot days so it’s warmer than usual.
Great building to live, very nice rooftop. Convenient area to live as many places are walkable near by (ex: lake union, freemont, etc) or even bikeable.
I cannot recommend True North enough. The management team is wonderful and have always been on top of things. The location of the apartment is amazing - walking distance to Lake Union and several grocery stores. Not to mention, the cleanliness and security of the building is top notch.
Fantastic community, with amazing features, everyone who lives here is very friendly, and the amenities are unbeatable.
True North has been a great rental experience thus far. The management team is friendly and communicative. Maintenance requests are responded to in a timely manner. The amenities are wonderful to use and really add to the living experience.
Excellent location, amenities and high quality apartment. Totally worth it to lease an apartment here.
True Norrh is extremely responsive and professional when dealing with any matter. I have had no issues getting in contact with management, nor have I had issues with getting my problems handled in a timely manner
Totally awesome!
It is a really nice place that is far enough from the hustle and bustle that you can simply relax, but close enough that you can walk.
You are not felt welcome here, people are rude, arrogant and ignorant. Nice building, great location, but management makes experience here to be miserable!
I really feel like home here. The colors, the details, the art; it's a place I can relax and really call mine.
True North is an excellent apartment building with a high quality life style.
It is a fantastic first home in Seattle. Close to everything and the staff are awesome.
Central location, friendly staff, dog-friendly community in SLU! Lots of amenities for everything from board games in the common area to free coffee drinks in the map room. My husband and I love it here!
True North is a fantastic place to live--especially for newcomers to Seattle, or graduates renting their first space. Management is extremely professional, taking all the stress out of renting.
True North is a very nice building to stay in with amenities that will keep you there. The staff are friendly and the building is clean. When we moved in, there were many small issues with our apartment that I had pointed out months before, but they still were not fixed. Thankfully, there happened to be someone with maintenance available right away to fix stuff in our apartment as we were moving in. This doesnt completely absolve the though, as these should have been fixed well before we got there. Overall, aside from small issues initially, the apartment itself is very nice and updated. Everything offered makes living here either easier or feel nicer. The amenities are great and the staff are very friendly.
Lovely apartments with very modern amenities located next to Lake Union and several tech companies. Love the deck area and access to Dexter Brewery, a taco place, coffee shop, a Korean restaurant, and a small bodega.
Excellent location, high quality finishes and appliances, great amenities, helpful staff.
I've enjoyed living at True North. The building is in a good location, has excellent amenities and I've had no real complaints living here in the last two months.
I moved from Denver to Seattle and was able to process the True North leasing documents via email. Chemire was very responsive with the hundred questions or so I asked between signing the lease and actually moving in. On moving day Nick was very friendly and helpful. And since then, life has been very pleasant since I live close to everything I need/want to do in Seattle, I live in a clean and fairly quiet building and I get excellent service from the entire True North staff!
This has been my first apartment experience, and I could not have asked for a better place to call "my first apartment". Thanks for being great True North!
Living in true north is like living in an oasis in the middle of the city. The staff is friendly, and the building amenities truly make it feel like home.
The staff has been incredibly responsive and took care of all our move in needs. Extremely knowledgeable and wants us to be happy and comfortable in our home.
You can clearly hear what your neighbors living to your next door and above you doing all the time. Low frequency noise from unknown devices, walking noise, music noise keep you from sleeping almost every night.
As a resident of True North, any amenity or positive aspect of the property has been negated by the lack of adequate sound suppression between floors. Given that the floors are wood, I cannot find the logic of not having concrete between every level. Because of this, there is no guarantee that you will be able to concentrate during the day if your upstairs neighbor is home; let alone being able to get to bed at your desired time. Walking can easily be heard, as well as doors (even drawers!) opening/closing on the floor above you. As a result, your bedtime will be dependent on the neighbor above you. I can not recommend enough to avoid True North.
None of the units have air conditioning, and it gets so hot you can't sleep for several months in a row. The air conditioning is in the common area, which is where you will need to sleep during the summer.
