True North University Place is an architecturally beautiful 6 story elevator building located at 26 East 13th Street, one block south of Union Square. Originally constructed in 1893, it has a striking Beaux Arts façade of blind balustrades and polished granite columns by architects De Lemos & Cordes, who also designed Macy’s Herald Square. The building now consists of 24 rental apartments, predominantly bright and airy loft-style studios with extra high ceilings and abundant storage space. Many of the units have been recently upgraded with new stainless steel appliances. There’s also a New York Health and Racquet Club with 30’ swimming pool on the premises, tenants receive a generously discounted membership.
