Property Ratings at Tuckahoe Creek Apartments
I recently had a frustrating experience with the apartment representative when I called to inquire about my lease. The rep Shinelle was dismissive and seemed uninterested in helping me. When I asked for clarification on a couple of points, they became defensive and started arguing instead of providing clear answers. To make matters worse, they abruptly hung up on me mid-sentence. It felt unprofessional and disrespectful. I understand that everyone has bad days, but customer service should always be a priority, especially when dealing with potential and current residents. Overall, I was left feeling undervalued and frustrated. I hope management addresses this issue, as it can significantly impact the overall experience of living here.
I had a frustrating experience with Shinnell from Tuckahoe Creek. When I called to ask about my lease, she became argumentative and cut me off multiple times. The conversation ended with her hanging up on me. It’s clear that customer service is not a priority here. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere.
That is the worst management I have ever seen. Maintenance couldn't fix simple blinds right the first time. The newly installed stove almost caught fire. They billed me for renters' insurance, trying hard to get extra money from the resident when I already had one. Hopefully, I will not renew my lease with them
Property Manager at Tuckahoe Creek Apartments, Responded To This Review
I'm sorry to hear about your experiences with our management and maintenance team. We strive for high standards, and it's concerning that we've fallen short here. I'd like the opportunity to discuss these issues further and find a resolution for you. Please contact me directly at your convenience so we can address this together. Thank you, Lindsey - Community Manager - (804) 285-2288
Appliances: outdated. Common areas: not maintained. Water and mold problems all over the property. Persistent pest problems ie: roaches, slugs, and crickets. The office staff is mostly non responsive to concerns and often times rude when they do respond. They do not give ample warning before entering apartments. Repairs are not done on the time tables provided. Vacant apartments are left unsecured with doors completely wide open, without any kind of screen protection with the lights left on all night long, allowing pests and animals to enter the unit. Multiple cars have been broken into on the property, with zero concern from management. Save your money.

I paid a registration fee of $50 in May 2021 and after I submitted every requirement, they refused to finalize my lease and did not refund my application fee.
Apartment are really small in size for the price they charge with out dated appliances. Common areas inside building are not cleaned until you call and ask them. Apartments are too old and floors are squeaky so check the unit you are going to rent. You may be lucky to get the deposit amount back as they will hold it even for normal wear and tear. There are no covered parking spaces.
All our requirements are met with time and the staff who do the work are very friendly and polite.
My son and I have been here over 10 years and enjoy the living situation. We are thankful for the pool and the gym. The staff is always positive and seem to care about the residents.
This will be our 5th year at Tickahoe Creek. Lindsey and here staff are so wonderful. We recommend living here to anyone, nice apartments amenities, shops, great schools , hospital in walking distance. You name it, a great location, great amenties.
I am very satisfied with my experience living here and am very much so with the staff. They've been very helpful whenever I've had a problem. The maintenance crew is A-One too. They are punctual, friendly, well-mannered and efficient.
I am so happy I chose to become a resident at Tuckahoe Creek. From the Online Application process to my move-in day, the Leasing Staff was very supportive and reliable. I moved during COVID but the office still made it so I was able to complete an in person tour twice (once was the model) before moving in. At moving day I was welcomed by my neighbors which brought a sense of community. The model apartnent is exactly what my apartment looked like at move-in, fresh paint, fresh clean carpet, appliances all in tact. My washing machine wasn't drained after the cycle reset between leaseholders, but maintenence was prompt and came the next day (after weekend) to drain. My building is quiet, and peaceful at night.
Maintenance is always professional and courteous when i put in a request. He is timely and efficient.
I love living here. Everyone is kind and caring. The office team is amazing and really cares. The maintenance team is friendly and eager to please.
I have enjoyed living here. Maintenance always come in a timely manner. The entire staff is very helpful &friendly.
Nice property and reasonably priced for the amount of space renters received.
The Tuckahoe Creek apartment community goes above and beyond for their residents. Their customer service always exceeds my expectations. They treat their residents like family and go out of their way to help them. Maintenance issues are resolved quickly and communication is done swiftly. I highly recommend this community to anyone looking for apartment living in the Henrico County area.
I moved here in August and it was the best decision I could have made. Its a very quiet and nice community. The office personnel is helpful with any questions you may have and excellent customer service
Tuckahoe Creek is my first home away from home. I truly feel welcome and comfortable here. I made an excellent choice.
My move in experience was excellent at Tuckahoe Creek Apartments. The management staff was excellent and responded to all questions in a timely manner.
This is a excellent place to live friendly warm just like home matta fact it is home
The management and maintenance teams here are really good and they really seem to do thier best. The apartments are pretty spacious and nice. But if you have an upstairs neighbor you will hear every little step they take. People walk their dogs off leash, let them poop on the side walks and just leave it there. Trash is constantly left near the dumpster where animals get into it and wind blows the trash all over the parking lot. They take the mail they want out of their mailbox and then leave all the coupons and newspapers on the ground near it in the common areas of the building. Everyone seems to have loud subwoofers in their apartments that play loud music all day and night. If you're someone who takes pride in where you live or someone who respects your neighbors, you probably won't fit in here unfortunately. It's shame because this could be a really really nice place to live but there are just too many bad apples here...
We've lived here four years and really enjoy it. There is a lot to offer here for everyone!
Our home is nice and reasonably priced. The people who manage it are kind, thoughtful, and responsive. Our neighbors are great. I don't know what else I'd look for in an apartment, so full marks from me!
I have found all Tuckahoe staff to be accommodating. I cannot say enough about the maintenance staff. They are men who always want to help and are very respectful.
I've been completely satisfied with my stay at Tuckahoe Creek (it's been almost a year now).
I have really enjoyed my stay here. All the staff is great! The staff really work hard at keeping apartments in good shape. The staff seem to work So well together(like family). I have purchased a senior condo and will be leaving in July but will miss the great staff and wonderful neighbors. Funny thing my sister and her husband were one of the first renters 40 yrs ago when they were new and had the apartment connected to mine! Wish all of you well and thank you for all you have done! / Margaret
Im very pleased with the community, its peaceful and beautiful. Office staff and maintenance are accommodating and pleasant.
This is a good place to Live
My son and I have been here for over 10 years and enjoy living here. We have never had a bad situation happen. They have a good staff and maintenance.
Overall its a very good place to live. Units are comfortable and well maintained.
The headline sums it up. We chose this location because of the value of the rent price, location, and decent, basic units. Though not every unit is updated, they are fine. The central location is great, you are about 5-10 minutes from so many different areas. Unfortunately, the management staff counteracts every positive thing about this complex. And the only purpose of writing this is to save people and hopefully, the corporate level of BH Management will fix this. If you don't have anything that needs to be addressed while living here, you won't have to worry about it. But if you do, it's a headache not worth having. The staff has a revolving door. Been here less than a year and have seen 4-5 staff members come&go. The staff is unorganized, inconsistent, and lacks a sense of urgency. The apartment was not ready when we moved in, and the staff never gave the maintenance the list of items to be addressed after our walkthrough. There have been several issues since, that the staff does not address properly. It's typical for them to make excuses, not take care of things, lose things, charge fees without notice, and blame things on their tenants. Safe to say we did not renew our lease.
The maintenance staff are always very attentive to solve the problems, they are kind and respectful people
My experience was good at first but now I am no longer happy living here
Good Place to live
quiet and peaceful neighborhood, lots of amenities and employees that are pleasant and seem to care.
Horrible management and maintainence supervisor. Read before you decide to move in. 1. You dont have any control of what they charge you when you move out. And there is no point on discussing with them. They are sitting in that office to say NO to you and NOT help you. Many of my friends share same including me. 2. Worst maintainence supervisor ever. Harsh and never willing to help. Lot of people have same feedback about this guy still not sure how is still there. 3. Floors are worst, old and not well maintained all across the community. Makes loud noise even you walk with soft steps. I dont think they care about your feedback but I dont want others to suffer as we and lot of others did. I see their reply on other comments are just for a formality. In reality they dont care.
Great school system.....stops there.... My children were chased off a playground by two middle aged men..reported to the manager and she never lifted her head from fidgeting with her paper work....a few days later we found 2 pot plants steps from where they were playing...and run off the playground and chased by these non residents that easily gained access. We called the cops and 5 plants were found....staff has no idea it happened including the manager...was never contacted regarding my concern even after law enforcement was there...i cant stress enough please stay away.....if you want a safe environment its not here....i would run .... i cant stress enough the lack of professionalism of the staff and care of its residents
I absolutely loved living here! I lived here for 6 years and had a great experience! The staff was always very friendly and helpful, and it was really close to my job. I left only because my job transferred me out of state, but I would definitely recommend, it was a great location for the price!
Tuckahoe Creek was my worse renting experience. Unbearable squeaky floors, disrespectful/violent neighbors, cockroach infestation and the most unprofessional and incompetent manager I've ever seen. That's why it is so much cheaper than the other communities around.
Lived there for 3 years and have watched it slide downhill year after year. Maintainance has become mediocre at best, but the real problem is the office. I informed them I would be renewing my lease in November of 2014. In January, I was called to the office to sign my lease, but it wasn't ready when I arrived. At that time I requested a set of new blinds and some peeling paint in the bathroom be repaired. They sent me a threatening letter in June to come in and sign my lease within one week or they would start eviction proceedings. Took them 6 months to notice. So I went in to sign my lease and on one of the pages I wrote down, that the lease would be invalid if the work I had requested in January is not completed by the end of the month. It left them more than three weeks to do the job. When the office manager saw me amending the lease, she said. "You can't write anything on the lease." My response was "sure I can, I have a pen." "Well, you're going to have to come back in and resign that page." "Well you're going to have to come out and do the work I requested 6 months ago." I guess I had an invalid lease the whole year since it still took five weeks to finish the bathroom and they never made me come back to resign that page. Lastly, within 4 days of moving out I received a letter from a collection agency stating I owed $200 for damages. I am still waiting as I write this for a list of what damages.
The apartments are very nice, spacious and comfortable (we have a two-bedroom and it's 930 sq ft). The neighborhood is beautiful! The location is beyond perfect! Within a ten minute drive of everything and essentials are even closer! The staff is very helpful and welcoming, even keeping a stock of dog treats on hand for the many dogs of the community! The amenities are great, too! We couldn't ask for more!
The location is excellent, the maintenance staff is excellent and the office staff is friendly. There are great amenities such as the beautiful pool, grill area, and wonderful workout room. There are two problem areas however. Odors such as smoke or cooking odors bleed into units. However the squeaky floors are a problem and can impact sleep if the bedroom floors squeak. The closets are large so storage is more than adequate and cabinetry in the kitchen is adequate.
Renovated interiors include microwaves but ice makers and ceiling fans are not included. Lacks walk in closets. The apartments at the back of the buildings have nice wooded views and are quiet. These are older apartments but overall the interiors are okay and the location is convenient.
Most of the apartments have been remodeled and are quite nice. I'm currently in a one bedroom. I've had very few issues living here, most relate to maintenance requests disappearing and no one showing up. They are in the process of changing how water is billed, so I am not sure how that will go over. The only downside is that the apartments are a little on the pricey side. For similar apartments in the area, they are more expensive. They also have lots of breed restrictions, but they aren't applied to all residents equally and lots of people refuse to keep their dogs on a leash and little is done about it.
