There’s a little bit of everything in South Baton Rouge, a terrific neighborhood located about six miles southeast of Downtown Baton Rouge and only about five miles southeast of Louisiana State University. It is home to the impressive Mall of Louisiana, terrific parks and the Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center, and the Country Club of Louisiana. The triangular-shaped neighborhood touches on a bend in the Mississippi River, and the Blue Bayou Water Park sits just across I-10.
While renting in South Baton Rouge is a little more expensive than other neighborhoods, the ideal location puts you within minutes of Tiger Stadium, the shops along Perkins Rowe, the historic State House, and the Nottoway Plantation Resort, the largest Antebellum Mansion in the South. With I-10 stretching along the east side, getting around Baton Rouge is quick and easy.

Property Ratings at Turnberry Place Apartments
You're really paying for location here as the apartments are tucked away in a quiet space off of Bluebonnet. The units are at least 20 years old and outdated. You're informed pre vacating that the unit needs to be left clean or additional fees on top of the $90 cleaning fee will be charged. With the exception of freshly steam cleaned carpets, the unit was left as clean as it was when I moved in. There weren't any stains on the carpet. At move out I asked the lady at the front desk who is clueless when a move out inspection would be conducted for the security/damage deposit. She said the property manager wasn't in, and asked for my new address to mail it to. I never received it, and didn't bother calling bc the rude mgmt gives you run around BS. So if you decide to move here be sure to have documentation at move out if you leave the unit clean/undamaged.
My son lived here for two years. We never had a single issue with anything until he moved out. When he left his apartment, it was left spotless and in move-in condition for the next resident. They kept a cleaning fee of $90.00. When I called to question the fee, I was told that they were charging the full cleaning fee because a $0.50 drip pan on the stove needed to be cleaned. So if you are going to move into this apartment, don't waste your time cleaning the apartment. They will find a way to keep the cleaning fee anyway.
Safe your sanity, they’ll find any reason to fine you even if they have to make one up. I brought up safety concerns, such as domestic violence issues from neighbors (a lady suspiciously died in the apt above us), stray racoons and other animals, and my car being broken into and was told they could not help that. Don’t even try to follow the rules because you’ll get screwed anyway. AVOID! Oh and management/owners were THE rudest! The owner literally walked out on us when we asked for assistance TO PAY THEM!
Very affordable for a community that provides the base essentials of a luxury community. The rooms are still clean and still feel like new. The gym is absolutely amazing. It’s never too crowded either. The pool is a good quaint size. The community is so peaceful, and the balconies are such a nice addition.
Why is it so poor? Well Turnberry Staff SEVERELY lacks customer service skills, professionalism, knowledge of their own lease and have rude attitudes. Some lady claiming to be property manager (who I never seen before in all my 3 years of living there and in corp housing) tried to get me to sign their prewritten notice to vacate UNDER DURESS!!! My original written notice to vacate was written after the other property manager stopped responding to my emails regarding the change in my lease without mailing or delivery as per our signed lease agreement. They did not accept it. ok. Their letter said it did not qualify. ok. So I went to the front office to see what qualifies as a 30 day notice. This lady couldnt provide proof she was the property manager and still tried to get me to sign their 30 day notice to vacate. Sure, if its in the lease, I'll be happy to sign. She couldnt show me where in the lease it says I must sign theirs! She became so upset that she called the BR sheriff on me "for refusing to leave." Well the police report says I was already outside, because she told me to leave. Furthermore, she divulged a complaint I made to the "live in" leasing consultant. Later that day after work, that staff member literally followed me in his truck to my apartment building, got out his truck and proceeded to follow me all the way up to my apartment door. I was harassed, intimidated, and my access to the ground became restricted upon Turnberry banning me from the office and the surrounding area. I called the sheriff department regarding all this, and they advised me this was illegal as long as I paid my rent. I did. Always paid my rent on time, never received any sort of lease violation or leasing violation fines. Moreover, the apartment I was renting from them was extremely outdated with what they began advertising online. I mean it was already in pretty deteriorating shape considering there was water damage in the unit prior to my move in. I was refused a walk through prior to signing my initial lease and refused pictures. Take note of the most helpful "thumbs up" comments are 1 star reviews here over the last couple years. CLEAR INDICATIONS TO STAY AWAY FROM RENTING HERE!!!!!!
charge 2 much when moving out rude staff!!! not worth it!
My husband, dog and I lived at Turnberry Place for 3.5 years while I was finishing graduate school at LSU. The apartments are spacious, quiet, have a luxury pool area, tons of community space to enjoy, and they go over the top to accommodate dogs. There are 3 dog parks on the property with plenty of grass. The property feels like a small community tucked away behind bluebonnet blvd. You are so close to the Perkins Rowe scene but do not have the noise from all of the traffic at home, which made us feel safe. We never had any issues while we lived there and only moved out because we moved to the northeast for a job. We loved the location and staff. They were always friendly and accommodating and knew who we were when we stopped by the office. We could not recommend this place more!
I lived here for a year while working at a local hospital nearby. This was the worst management and worst apartment I have ever lived in. My appliances, for example washer dryer would break almost every two months. They never replaced it and only put a piece of putty on it to fix the problem short term. I also went without AC in the hot LA weather. They gave me a loud window unit (I'm an ICU RN who needs to sleep) which didn't even cool the entire apartment while I waited for a week for repairs. The apartment carpet was filthy and there were roaches at move in (I have photos). Management was condescending and never helpful and honestly the repair men were very strange. They would loiter in your apartment. They charge you 300 at move out to clean the carpets, this is fine to me but then they sent me a bill for 800 dollars for carpet replacement. There were no tears, rips etc but I guess there was pet hair. I assumed the 300 dollars carpet cleaning would clean pet hair. Beware. Beware. Beware. This place will haunt you well after you leave. Words cannot express what a terrible experience I had living there, and just when I thought it was over it is still following me. DO NOT RENT HERE.
I lived at Turnberry Place for 3 months in a furnished unit. I have zero issues while I was there. I felt safe the entire time and the other residents were very friendly. The staff at Turnberry was extremely helpful with the application and touring process and answered all my questions as needed. I highly recommend this community to those looking to rent in the Bluebonnet/Perkins area.
Property Manager at Turnberry Place Apartments, Responded To This Review
Thank you for the kind review. We are happy that you had such a positive experience while at Turnberry as we work hard to provide a safe and happy environment for our residents. We hope that we can have you as a resident again in the future!
Stay away with this property, especially with the current management team. I totally agree with the most recent comments posted by another resident. It seems that recently the members of the management team have been changed dramatically and now it is absolutely the worst management I have ever seen. At the first glance, you may find the hardware of the apartment seems pretty nice, such as location, outfit, and appearance. However, when you move in, you will notice a lot of service faults. 1, It seems that the appliances in this apartment tend to be dysfunctional easily. Just as described by the other resident, I also had the experience of having an AC unit broken at the hottest time of the whole summer; what made things even worse was the amazingly slow response of service request. I had to stay in an apartment without AC for A WHOLE WEEK while the temperature of Baton Rouge was around 100 degree F! Each time you called, they would tell you it is on the way... for a whole week in summer. It also took them 5 days to change a broken light bulb. The whole service is sluggish. They may talk to you nicely; but they just do nothing to respond your service request promptly. 2, Dog waste is everywhere. Dogs are nice; but leaving the dog waste in front of your doorstep is not. What made things even worse was that even after I told the management team that there were dog waste in front of the door, I was ensured by the management team that they would send someone to clean it up and...that someone has never come. I was fortunate enough to watch how dog waste was degraded naturally in Baton Rouge over 5 days. 3, When I moved in, there were trash piles in my closet. I asked them to clean it up. Yes, the apartment seemed to be nice, unless you were not comfortable with seeing cockroaches from time to time. 4, Pay extra caution with the moving out procedure, 'cause they will play dirty tricks to take away your deposit (and even more).
Property Manager at Turnberry Place Apartments, Responded To This Review
I strongly encourage any potential resident who is considering living at Turnberry Place to stop in and ask to see the photos of the condition of the apartment home after the resident moved out of the above mentioned apartment. I believe you will then think differently about the review. Our maintenance team is top notch and air conditioners not working in summer are treated as emergencies. If an air conditioner goes out all residents are offered temporary window units while the proper equipment is ordered. This is to ensure no loss of cool air until the new unit is delivered and installed. It is up to the resident if they accept or deny this service. All other maintenance requests are addressed in emergency priority. We are a pet friendly property and have policies in place for residents who are caught not picking up their dog waste and ask that all residents keep their eyes open to help catch the irresponsible owners. Our hope is that decisions will not be made based on negative resident reviews but by stopping in for a tour and experiencing the property for yourself. We believe that our property is beautiful and ever evolving, maintenance and management are knowledgeable and professional and provide exceptional service by going above and beyond for residents needs.
I lived at Turnberry for 6 months in 2 different furnished corporate apartments with no problems. I would recommend this apartment complex - location is convenient, apartments and grounds are nice and management is good. I was from out of state, and communicated largely via internet to set up apartment with no issues. Being from out of state, not knowing anyone nor location, this all worked well for me for the time as contact worker nearby. They offer exercise classes twice a week, pool/hot tub, exercise room and met many neighbors this way. This is nice complex a bit smaller than many with good location tucked just back off Bluebonnet (major) roadway near malls and all other shopping.
I love living at Turnberry Place! I've been here a few months shy of 2 years and can't think of a single complaint. The location is convenient to everything I may need! Minutes away from Perkins Rows, Mall of Louisiana, I-10/I-12 and too many grocery stores, restaurants and shops to name. The staff is excellent in customer service (they bake fresh cookies), maintenance issues are solved pretty quickly if not the next day and I feel comfortable giving the office staff any feedback. The community is gated, courtesy officers live on site and it's tucked away off of the road making it quiet! No road noise! Did I mention pet friendly? They just added a new pet park so it's more convenient for us that live at the back of the property. Definitely recommend!
I have been living here for going on 2 years and I am loving the quality of life here. I consider these apartments to be very safe and they are located in a pretty happening part of town!! Management is very courteous and attentive and I love the different activities that are held here. Hands down the best apartment complex I've ever lived in Baton Rouge.
My husband and I love living at Turnberry place. The office staff and maintenance are very friendly and helpful. We have lived here for a year, and will be ruining for at least another year. The apartments are kept up nicely, and the grounds are maintained constantly! They are also very pet friendly!

We are so glad to hear that you too are loving your stay at Turnberry! We strive to please our residents and to make your community a wonderful place to live!
Next week will mark five years I have lived at Turnberry. I was new to the city and wanted a place that made me feel safe, and that's exactly what I got. The location is second to none. Everything you need is in a five mile radius, you can't beat that! I originally lived in the large one bedroom, and moved in to a two bedroom two years ago. The amount of space in the two bedroom is insane! Both the one and two-bedrooms have spacious walk in closets, which can be hard to come by. Washer and dryer are included in rent, and there is NO monthly pet rent! They accept dogs of all sizes and even have two dog parks (for small and large breed) up front. The pool and gym are two of my favorite things that I use as often as I can. Alicia, the owner, has been nothing but nice to us and always strikes up conversation when we see her. I'll be sad to leave when we find a house!
