Situated at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Central Virginia, Charlottesville is a fiercely modern city with a reverence for the past. Two United States presidents called Charlottesville home, Thomas Jefferson and James Monroe. Thomas Jefferson designed Monticello and the University of Virginia, both of which are now UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Adjacent to Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello is James Monroe’s Ash Lawn-Highland, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Charlottesville also houses the largest collection of Aboriginal art outside of Australia, the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection at the University of Virginia. The Jefferson Theater, the Paramount Theater, and a number of music venues in the downtown area host regular performances in Charlottesville, adding to the rich arts and cultural scene.

Property Ratings at Turtle Creek Condominiums
I own a unit at Turtle Creek and find it clean, quiet, safe and comfortable. It is very convenient to shopping, town, schools and entertainment. (The Shops at Stonefield, including the Regal Cinema and a Trader Joe's, are a five minute walk away and a great place to hang out.) The front desk is friendly and responsive, parking is convenient, landscaping is mature and while an older complex, many of the units are being upgraded with wood floors, and refurbished bathrooms, kitchens and finishes. The units have generous balconies (for garden apartments) and fireplaces. When a unit comes up for rent, it rents fast.
These apartments are a pleasant place to live overall. We have two pools, it's pet friendly and we are within walking distance of Kroger, Whole Foods, and the Regal Stone Movie Theatre. However, some things that are a downside of this place include the matenience staff recently having a personnel change and now it takes much longer to get anything looked at. Aside of that this is a pleasant place to live.
From the start I should have known that this place was a bad place to move, when I asked repeatedly to see the apartment I was giving the run around that is it not ready yet and that we are doing everything "to make it perfect" which was far from the truth. When I finally got a tour of the apartment it was on the day that I moved in and at that point they already had my money. The laundry list of things that were still wrong with the apartment were numerous from paint on the carpets to kitchen drawers breaking when opening them and even being missing. Which was promised to be fixed within the week as the part was on order. I immediately felt reluctant about my choice instantly, and only insult to injury was added in the following weeks. From Ill mannered neighbors to the constant patrol of Tow Trucks all hours of the night. The grounds are unkept and detritus abounds for days or even weeks. The On-site Laundry facilities are a joke and are just dare I say "NASTY" as the rest of the complex. There only partial saving grace is that it is on site and that you don't have to lug your laundry elsewhere. The good new is there are two laundromat's less than a mile away which are a marked improvement. The Playground that is pictured on the website is far from that it former glory the slides are now gone and are replaced with particle board, the mulch is missing and the swings are broken. It's no place for children to play. What kind of playground does not have a slide. Other Problems Too many closets when one could have been used for a Washer & Dryer. Grounds are unkept especially at the back apartments. The Trash Disposal Area is constantly overrun. Poorly maintained sliding closet doors constantly breaking. Outdated apartment layouts (1970's bar attached to the kitchen) Poorly maintained entrances (The paint needs a serious touch up a power wash for the concrete)
