The University District, affectionately dubbed the U District, is home to the preeminent University of Washington. Lending historic architecture and blooming cherry blossoms in the spring, the University of Washington contains a range of gardens, galleries, and theaters in addition to sports complexes and a medical center.
Should you choose to rent in the U District, you will have the opportunity to bike the Burke-Gilman trail, kayak Union and Portage Bays, savor cocktails and a film at Sundance Cinemas, swing by the Saturday Farmers Market, celebrate touchdowns at Husky Stadium, check out the independent restaurants and funky shops along the Ave, and attend the annual U District StreetFair.
The U District sits about five miles north of Downtown Seattle, with convenience to Green Lake Park, Woodland Park Zoo, the Fremont Troll, and Gas Works Park.

Property Ratings at U Place Apartments
I love the location - right between the university village and the Union bay natural area. As a UW student, I particularly value convenience and the ability to easily access both outdoor space and grocery stores. I also can walk to the link rail stations and campus on foot. As a 19-year-old, the age demographics do matter to me; and I appreciate that the majority of the residents are students; at the same time, I am glad that the apartment is open to families with children.
Everything was dirty (the undersides of my socks were filthy after one day of walking around the apartment), cupboards/floor still had crumbs from previous tenant, and nearly all surfaces were covered in various animal and human hair when I arrived. The apartment smells like a combination of dog and outside trash, especially on warmer days (no AC). So many parts of the apartment look "nice" but are actually cheap and cutting corners.
Property Manager at U Place Apartments, Responded To This Review
The common area cleaning service happens at least twice a week. Feel free to contact us directly at 206-525-5625 or Contact.seattle@tripalink.com for immediate assistance, we are happy to help! U Place apartments do have AC port avaialble in every unit, and feel free to contact us to rent a portal AC during the summer!
The worst management we've ever experienced. 1. Be careful the manager would find any excuse to add fees and take your deposit. 2. During the time we lived there, they had three different management companies! The rules for pets kept changing! First it wasn't allowed then it was and then it wasn't again! 3. Don't believe the restaurant on the first floor, it's just like frozen food that they make in microwave, and it was expensive. The gym was never open or functional when we were living there. 4. Almost every week the garbage would back up so you couldn't throw anything away. 5. The call box was often broken. Overall I would NOT recommend renting this apartment.
You can tell that the management company and the owner don’t take advice from the other properties in the area. This building has been through several management companies and none have lasted which means the owner is part of if not the main issue and not willing to change their ways. Management is so disorganized and the manager isn’t even there half the time but instead leaves her assistants to fend for themselves without help or guidance. I have witnessed her lie and blame her assistants for things that she should be at least helping to handle. Maybe she should listen to the people who actually stay and work on the front office for a change since they’re the only ones who actually see what’s going wrong with the building. I didn’t stay here long but it was long enough to see that it was overpriced and not worth a single cent of what I paid, and I blame the owner and higher-ups in management for putting the blame and workload on the front office workers and the tenants.
Management changed 3 times and the current company is no better. No package locker, no callbox, barely a gym and no parking unless you want to shell out 300$+ a month. They will charge you for everything. Save yourself a headache and don’t stay here.
I moved here in March and is a messy! Changed the manager 2 times and the regular now are so rude. The price is so higher now.
By far the best apartment I've lived. Nice facility, nice people, nice location, nice price, nice furniture. 5 stars!!
Very fancy apt with a kitchen, washer&drier and a bathroom per room and and lot of other common space.
I recently flew across the country to move in and it's my first time moving all by myself. The staff Matt, Dave and Tyler are amazing people. They went out of their way to help make sure the place is clean and ready. I had to assemble this terrible ikea bed and they Matt and Dave helped me multiple times when I was feeling hopeless. The price is right and the staff are top notch!

Thanks for your feedback! We at U Place always enjoy hearing from residents, and we appreciate your thoughtful comments. We hope you have a wonderful day, and look forward to seeing you soon.
I currently live in the U-District and I pass by this property every day I visit the University Village. The construction has been coming along quite nicely and the building looks really good! It is located next to all of my favorite shops, and my go-to grocery stores - QFC and Safeway. So happy to have a new building in this area. I am excited to be one of the first applicants to apply here~
