Property Ratings at Umbrella Building
Helpful and friendly staff, great amenities, updated. and well-kept.
I love living at this apartment over the past 2 years. The property has a great pool and gym. The staff is top notch and always there to help. Would recommend to all!!!
Management is a nightmare to deal with and that’s if they choose to want to deal with you. They are extremely hostile. Regular $200 + monthly electric bills were deemed “normal” and there was no recourse. Hollow walls, leaking windows, drugs, homeless in the staircases, and much more. Avoid this place or get ready for an awful living experience
The front desk team is run very professionally and they always call to make sure I am expecting guests. Cliff is excellent and always goes out of his way and above and beyond. All areas of the building are kept very clean by the cleaning staff. I enjoy going to the gym here because it is always clean and never crowded. It lacks a smith machine but I can do anything I need with the equipment that is provided. The maintenance team usually shows up the same day I make a request! They are always fast and will take care of anything additional that is not on the request like changing the filter in the HVAC unit. I love taking long hot baths in the tub while watching TV. I haven't been able to use the pool yet because I moved in during the fall but I enjoy my time on the roof deck with the panoramic views of the city. I am very excited about the pool this summer! Parking in the area in not bad and I have never had any issues with my car at all The unit has huge windows and lots of light. I never hear my neighbors due to the solid construction of the building. I didn't even need to use my heat in the winter! I enjoy the sound system that comes with the unit and don't have issues getting it to work. The management company has always been pleasant and great to work with during the lease signing period or anytime I have had a question. I look forward to staying here for a long time.
I moved into the Umbrella building a year ago. At the time we signed our lease, our apartment wasn't even finished so we were excited to be the first occupants of our 'luxury' apartment. What we got were small, cheap appliances, unfinished and shotty construction, and a garage space so small my husband had to pull out just so we can both open our doors. We didn't have a working living room shade for the first six months because of excessive leaking in our ceiling, which a year later had not been fully remedied. We also gave up on trying to have their tech reps fix or replace our main living room tv (you have to turn it off and on several times EVERY time to get sound - they insisted it was our Comcast connection). The tablet that is attached to our wall hasn't been functioning for around 9 months either, but honestly we were so tired of dealing with the management company we just focused on moving out. The grills on the deck for some reason took an eternity to be put in and are always filthy so we never used them either, and since there are about 25 chairs around the pool for a 10 story highrise, we didn't get to take advantage of that much unless it was a week day. All in all, nickel and diming short cuts far outweigh any benefit of this building, with the exception of the great staff of door men.
After living at The Umbrella building over the past year, the things that I was excited about the building were ruined in some way by poor management. The apartment was unfinished wreck(Nails sticking out of hardwood, paint spattered on light switch covers, unfinished painting). The pool costs an additional $200 if you want to bring a guest with. I stopped using the buildings gym because every time I went down it was being used by a private trainer that had the bench reserved for when his clients came in. The technology that comes with the apartment (TV, Tablet, Receiver) is so unnecessarily complicated because it is controlled solely by the tablet (Only programmed with Xfinity with no option for Fios) that it would take 10 minutes to just get the cable going with the sound on. Lastly, the Move In/ Move Out process they have is the worst. Moving is stressful by nature but their move in policy feels like they enjoy making it an awful day. Simply put the restrictions they have will force you and whoever you have helping you move to take a day off of work to move in and out. For no reasonable explanation you cannot use the freight elevator after 5 pm (Even on the weekend) to move. If you plan to move on a Saturday or Sunday near the end of the month you will find that the elevator is reserved all day in 3 hour blocks.
Honestly even if the building was terrible with the neighborhood amenities being often noted as best urban locations to visit in the country let alone the city you cant beat the location. I have lived in quite a few buildings in what locals call Center City and this is the closest to the top of the line experience I have had in this vibrant exciting area near Fishtown and Northern Liberties. I plan on upsizing my apartment at the end of my lease term and settling in for the long haul! I love the area, building and staff!
Apartment was nowhere near where they'd expect it if you were the one moving out. Uneven everything, cabinets, light switches, etc. Terribly laid hardwood flooring. Drafty windows. Touch up paint on cabinets. The pool is a scam. You're allowed 1 guess pass for $200/season, but there's a wait-list even for existing tenants so have fun by yourself. Rules were not rolled out til a week before opening and unfortunately after I had signed a lease. There is also a parking waitlist. Some spots are in a dodgy garage down the street, where they cram cars in, almost not allowing you to park some nights. Parking on the street is less of a hassle. Look elsewhere if you're looking for luxury and leisure.
Marble and chrome blind you from the issues. Doors come unhinged or block the washer/dryer from opening. Poor appliance choices- stove door gets so hot people get burned as well as cooking causes microwave above to get scorching. Tech set up lackadaisically. Not worth the price at all. Don’t get woo’ed by the looks and their promises. It’s a never ending construction zone.
Should not be considered luxury as far as my standards are concerned . This is something evident and not by fault of there own by the staff attending the front desk serving as the concierge.
i previously have resided in quite a few high end or affluent residential buildings, by far the Umbrella luxury apartments have been the best. The staff, the service is always there to cater to your every need. The management and staff are no hassle and are not intrusive... They always give your privacy the upmost respect. i could go on and on about the pros cause thus far there have been no cons. You'll have to see for yourself.
