Property Ratings at Union Berkley Riverfront
Their website says the Union "delivers a lifestyle where you are surrounded by everything you need and more" and "Prepare to elevate your lifestyle thanks to every feature included in our pet-friendly residences." But what they don't say is that Buckingham properties, the owner of the union doesn't spend money to maintain the property. Pool furniture is original to 2018 and has not been replaced. Additionally the pool is neither heated nor saltwater. Also the gym equipment is not maintain. Be careful on the treadmills, the belts often slip while you are running on them. The leasing office regularly turns over employees and usually fails to respond to requests or complaints. The property manager, Shannon and assistant property manager Manee or in over their head. All the negative reviews listed for the property are still true today.

They kept my entire security deposit when I left the apt in great condition. They made things up and did not care to fix it. Other things: People party in the parking lots and there is no security. The pool is always dirty. Their valet trash doesn't pick up trash when they're supposed to and expect you to take it out when you pay $25/month.

My partner lives here and has had the WORST experience. I would not recommend this apartment complex to my worst enemy. Their pool opened two months late this year, their "secured" garage door is unsecured so anyone can get in at any time, and physical safety on the premises is so/so. One of his vehicles has been damaged resulting in high dollar repairs multiple times and the office has yet to do anything about it. KCPD has two police reports as the vehicle was rendered inoperable until repair and this is just in the last two months. He also witnessed a gun being pulled on another person in the parking lot within the last few days. They always say they are pending an answer but never define who the answer is from or why they can't deliver on their contractual promises (such as the garage door I referenced that is stuck open). Many people pay to park in that garage as it is supposed to be safer than the parking outside only to get their vehicles vandalized and stolen. I witnessed one person tie a tow chain to his motorcycle and lock it to one of the garage pillars because that is how bad the vehicle theft is. DO NOT LIVE HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR SECURITY!
Worst experience ever. Do not live here. The new management company does not care about anything, my car has been broken into three times, I’ve been assaulted outside the front door, there is no security they’ve taken away the concierge, the place is simply dirty and they don’t even answer the phone. Do not live here!
I have never written a review, but I feel it’s important to share with you my experience, as making a decision about the place you plan to call “home” is a big one. I lived at Union for two two years, and it was a great place to live until a new management team took over in early 2020. I eagerly moved out in August 2020. It’s now November, and I still haven’t received my deposit - not because I left the unit in disrepair, but because this is indicative of how this new management team handles everything. They are unresponsive and very difficult to get in contact with. Additionally, the trash rooms were always a mess, as were the stair wells. I was fortunate to be tucked into a corner, away from a lot of traffic, so I was able to avoid some of the horror stories I’ve heard from other tenants, regarding cleanliness and upkeep. Lastly, the location really is not great. I always felt close - but not close enough - to the River Market and a fun city life. So, while I loved my actual unit (I was first tenant in it) and my view of the park and river, ultimately the hassle of the location, the decline in quality/cleanliness, and the under-performing management team turned my experience sour.
I'm not normally the type of person that writes bad reviews, but I'm going to make an exception today. I have lived at Union for 2 years, and I do want to be clear that this is a beautiful property in a great location. But unfortunately it was recently bought out by a large corporate company that has failed miserably at managing, cleaning, and maintaining the property. Cars have been getting broken into on a weekly basis. Free parking areas were turned into 2 hour parking forcing residents to pay for premium parking. Common areas are not being maintained. The new company fired both of the concierge and baristas, and discontinued both services. The gym is missing half the weights. It's really a shame, hope they turn it around after I leave.

New leasing office/management doesn't care. They don't reply to maintenance requests and have no urgency to do anything. The building has gone to crap. There is dog hair everywhere. There is never cleaning wipes in the gym or paper towels in the public bathroom. Rarely do they have coffee available at the barista station. Just sit outside the leasing door and you can hear the complaints coming in.
Just underwhelming all the way around. Apartment was nowhere near ready whenever I moved in and I was made to feel as if I was putting the office staff out whenever I would try to follow-up. Finally just gave up and hired someone myself to do it. Kind of crazy for a "luxury" apartment.
This place is amazing! Love the area and love that they are a big dog community. Their amenities are great as well! Very centrally located. ??
