At one time, the Palo Alto Orchards neighborhood was rich with fruit-bearing trees. These days, the only remnant of the area's agricultural past is its name. The serene, family-friendly neighborhood of cul-de-sacs and tree-lined streets was built around the end of World War II. Today, Palo Alto Orchards offers residents tranquil luxury in a lush environment near some of the largest technology companies in the world.
Palo Alto Orchards sits about 34 miles south of San Francisco. San Jose is about a 20-minute drive away via El Camino Real or Highway 101. Close proximity to Mountain View and Stanford places the community near some of the area’s top employers. Numerous nature preserves and parks are also within easy driving distance of Palo Alto Orchards, providing ample opportunities for outdoor recreation close to home.

Property Ratings at Union Plaza Apartments
Lived here in a studio for several years. Nice and peaceful, good neighbors, good resident managers, never had any major issues. Will look back fondly on my time here.
I rented a studio for almost 2.5 years here and absolutely loved it. the building has an amazing pool/outdoor area, and a comfortable common inside area. The studio is big and well-distributed. It has a lot of storage space, and a good and huge balcony, which I personally always enjoyed. The management was always available and promptly answered my requests. the building is close to parks, and public schools. It has easy access to Stanford, Los Alto, Downtown Palo Alto, and Downtown Mountain View. It's also close to Wholefoods, Trader Joe's, Walmart, Safeway, and San Antonio Rd. I would say that a con is that there is no Caltrain station in a walk distance, but it's for sure in a bike ride distance.
I tried to contact this community several times through phone, messages, emails.... Never received any kind of follow-up or response. I would've loved to rent here but turned off by their poor communication skills and how little they care about prospective residents.
I rented a studio here for 4 years; management changed during that time but the service level did not - they were always really responsive (not that much needed attention!) and the common areas were also well looked after. The building is a little older, but that means the apartments are generally bigger with more storage than ones built in the past decade. The interiors are all updated, and there's a lot of light in the living areas too. Great location too. I'm already missing being able to walk to Hobee's and the State of Mind pizza/beer house :)
I have sincerely enjoyed my 4 years here. The management is professional and friendly. The building is well kept and any concerns or needs are made in a timely manner. I love the location with two Trader Joe’s nearby, Whole Foods, Sprouts, and one of my most favorite grocery stores is an organic grocery Country Sun on California Avenue. There are also great restaurants close by. Another thing I really like about Union Plaza Apartments is it’s size; two residential floors not too small not to big.
I stayed here during my 6 month internship and I loved my place. The management was accommodating with my move in/move out dates despite my short lease and I could always contact them if I needed. They even kept residents up to date with maintenance and city construction that may effect our sidewalks. The location and safety was the largest reason I picked this apartment. This apartment was a little beyond my pay grade but I am a huge believer in "you get what you pay for," and it was worth it. I'm sure I saved hours of my time that may have been spent in traffic otherwise. With this location, you're close to everything and in a safe residential area. As a young female on my own for the first time I was unsure of what to expect. I never once felt unsafe here. I even shipped my car here and was given my own parking spot. I never had an issue with break ins or even too much pollen on my car. I was a 10 minute drive from work, a 5-8 minute drive to general errands and the gym. Also, despite being located near a main road, the morning/evening traffic was never so bad that I wait very long to get on the road. The apartments are unfurnished but the internal community is great with selling furniture from resident to resident. Plus, you get the opportunity to truly make the apartment your own! The apartment itself was clean, the walls were thick, the morning/evening light was beautiful, and the studio was the perfect size for me to truly establish myself/have family visit. The grounds were always taken care of and the common areas were clean! Huge plus in these covid times. I will be staying here again if I get another job in the area!
Storage, serenity, and safety. My husband and I enjoyed living here for around 2 years. One of the things that stuck out the most for us was the amount of storage we had. We like to do a lot of outdoor activities, so having a place to store everything was great. The complex has a nice community feel to it. Everyone stays to themselves mostly, but I've had a few conversations with some of our neighbors. We were all very respectful of each other. As for safety, no one comes in and out unless you're a resident or a guest. I could've probably left my door unlocked and not worry about it. Packages are left out in the mail room, but I never had any issues. If anything, residents make sure that the packages are locked inside the building. Also, service maintenance was always quick with resolving any issues with the apartment. Anyway, we moved because we got new jobs and the commute was too long.
The property manager Collie showed this apartment yesterday. She was super sweet and helpful and enjoyable to be around. It's a very quiet apartment with thick insulation from noise. The living room, bedroom and balcony are much bigger than they appear in the photos. The balcony is so peaceful. A thick sliding glass door keeps street noise out of the apartment. Everything is newly remodeled, all the appliances are brand new condition. New clean carpet in the living room and bedroom. Such a good deal especially for the price!
We lived in a two bedroom apartment here and really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was newly renovated, with a large balcony and had such a great layout. The apartment location was also awesome, near to school and San Antonio center, which has all the great shops. Complex is managed by Collie, who is such a friendly, warm and professional person. She always helped us promptly whenever we needed anything to be addressed!!
I lived in a studio in this apartment complex for three years, before moving to Canada, while doing a postdoc at Stanford. The studio's layout is perfect: plenty of room for a couch, a TV, and a queen-size bed. The kitchen is modern and the amenities include a dishwasher -- a necessity in my life from now on. The apartments have a large balcony, which is nice to have during a global pandemic when you want to take a breather. The apartment complex is managed by Collie, who is the most wonderful, professional, and pleasant person to talk to! I would rent this apartment based on her management alone. The apartment is located in an ideal location between Palo Alto, Mountain View, and Los Altos. I had no car during my stay and I biked everywhere (I didn't bike much prior to coming to California). Biking to Stanford takes approximately half an hour and there is a beautiful bike path along the way which makes the trip very enjoyable. Biking to California avenue, to grab a bite (Zareen's, Izzy bagel, Terun), takes approximately fifteen minutes. Biking to restaurants in downtown Palo Alto, Mountain View, Los Altos, etc. all take up to 30 minutes. The apartment is very close to the various mountain bike trails, which are a great place to get fresh air, especially during the pandemic. I shopped frequently at Whole Foods, Trader's Joe, Sprouts -- all of which are within a 10-minute bike ride along El Camino.
We lived here for two years and really enjoyed Union Plaza Apartments. Our apartment is beautiful, clean and newly renovated. The location is great - close to whole foods/safeway/shops on San Antonio street, and convenient to get on either 101 or 280 highway. Neighborhood is quiet and safe. Collie is really friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend!
