Urban amenities and suburban charm meet in East Central, a large neighborhood in the northern Salt Lake Valley. Although it lies just two miles east of Downtown Salt Lake City, East Central has a peaceful residential feeling reminiscent of a much smaller town. The northern section of the neighborhood, which sits adjacent to the University of Utah, attracts a sizable student population. The southern section, characterized by picturesque bungalows and turn-of-the-century houses, brings in many families.
No matter where you live in the neighborhood, East Central provides easy access to dining, shopping and entertainment. The famed ski resorts of Park City lie less than 30 minutes away, and the nearby Wasatch Mountains feature spectacular hiking trails. For people who want short commutes for work and play, East Central perfectly fits the bill.

Property Ratings at University Gardens-Student Apartments
My daughter rented an apartment at University Gardens for a summer and my perspective (as the paying parent) is that this is an okay property - UNTIL YOU NEED SOMETHING from management. Unfortunately, maintenance issues arose, and it became evident that the property was not well-maintained. During a severe heat wave with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, the air conditioning unit in her apartment broke down. It took several days for a technician to arrive, and when they did, they found that the compressor was broken. It then took an additional several weeks to repair the unit because they were "waiting for corporate to approve the expense." During this time, the apartment was uninhabitable due to the extreme heat, as it was a second-floor unit. She was forced to stay elsewhere for over two weeks and couch surf. At our request, they provided a very small standing AC unit, which it was insufficient to cool a room let alone an apartment. While I understand that issues can arise, I believe I should be refunded for the period during which the apartment was uninhabitable. Despite sending over TWENTY (yes, you read that number correctly, TWENTY) follow-up requests, all of them were ignored. Phone calls went unanswered, the voicemail box is always full, and messages sent through the resident portal are ignored, text messages, and emails also receive no response. It seems their strategy is to ignore problems in the hope they will disappear, which has led me to consider filing a claim in small claims court. Ignoring over twenty outreach attempts requires a deliberate effort. If you are considering renting a property for yourself or your child, ask yourself if you are willing to deal with such unresponsiveness. If not, I recommend looking elsewhere. Like many college properties, they are efficient at collecting rent but fall short in providing adequate support and maintenance.
Its location is great, the only reason why I rated it good is because of the thin walls and creeks in the floor. Since I am a full time student and also am employed I am rarely home. If you are a student at the university I recommend this place because of its location. It is also close to shops and awesome food restaurants. Down the street from the park and right next to a hospital. All you need within a block away!
Doesn't have many features but does have a great price for 3bedroom also too pricy for the animals:( would not want to live here
