The University District, affectionately dubbed the U District, is home to the preeminent University of Washington. Lending historic architecture and blooming cherry blossoms in the spring, the University of Washington contains a range of gardens, galleries, and theaters in addition to sports complexes and a medical center.
Should you choose to rent in the U District, you will have the opportunity to bike the Burke-Gilman trail, kayak Union and Portage Bays, savor cocktails and a film at Sundance Cinemas, swing by the Saturday Farmers Market, celebrate touchdowns at Husky Stadium, check out the independent restaurants and funky shops along the Ave, and attend the annual U District StreetFair.
The U District sits about five miles north of Downtown Seattle, with convenience to Green Lake Park, Woodland Park Zoo, the Fremont Troll, and Gas Works Park.

If I could give this apartment negative Stars I would. Up until about a month ago our elevator almost never worked at night, we only recently got it updated and with the new upgrade, came tons of construction work starting as early as 6:00 and 7:00 a.m. This apartment is old and while that adds charm, it also means theres a ton maintenance issues. Just to list a few grievances, we didnt have screens in our windows till July and we requested to get some installed in August (we are on the 8th floor), the washer and drier facilities are absolutely filthy and normally we have to pay for extra time on both washers and driers to get our clothing fully dry and clean no matter how small the load, we had issues with both sinks and we cant use the hot water in our bathroom sink because its almost impossible to turn off, and while we are on the topic of hot water our showers hot water wouldnt shut off no matter how hard we tried about a week ago and ran through the weekend till it could be fixed, and when it got fixed the water pressure went down so much that our shower is pretty much unusable, floor boards have come up, paint is bubbling up, a ton of refrigerators in our building have had to be fixed as theyve stopped working, our new apartment manager has decided we arent allowed to have doormats because they're a fire hazard but the cardboard and lifted up carpet in the hallways is fine, our new apartment manager has also decided to use a feature on our apartments community app limiting posts to only ones he has approved of which frankly defeats the whole point if we're asking for something like if anyone has a measuring tape we can borrow or something of that nature and its not in office hours, and lastly if you close our kitchen cabnets the paint sticks together and you have to end up fighting to try to get it open. I have plenty more issues I could share but Im sure I've given you enough reasons to run in another direction. Whatever you do, do not live here! It is too expensive for how little space you receive, how slow maintenance can be, and how poorly management acts (we are trying to move out and he hasnt confirmed our residency here to the place we applied at and we have to be out in 8 days).
Manager doesn’t do anything. Never responds. Elevators break down every other day so if you’re moving into a higher up unit. Good luck. Water gets shut off every month. In general just do not live here. You will regret it.
Property Manager at University Manor, Responded To This Review
We are sorry to hear about your experience with the previous management company. We have now taken over and have the elevators running!
I've been living here since 2014 and I don't have the slightest idea of moving out. This will be the most honest review you guys will see. The building is old. One day you will have cold water all day and the other day, the elevator would not move so you will have to take stairs. But this is all bearable thanks to hardworking manager, Jess. She updates us on what is going on and what is the problem the second she notices so you wont encounter anything unexpected. She is very chill and just feel like a friend. Don't be hesitant just cuz you are reading past reviews about past manager
