The friendly staff make this place one of the best apartments to live in. Also the community/social amenities they offer are unmatched, you can cool off in the pool during the summer and have year round gym access just minutes from your door. Location is perfect if you’re attending the University across the street or want to be close to all northern Indiana has to offer.

We’ve lived here for three years, and I feel like it’s gone down hill within the last two.. When we moved into the three bedrooms is when our experience plummeted. First: instead of fixing things that make the apartment worth it (I.e. garbage disposal & ceiling fans), if it breaks they just take it out instead of replacing it, that’s what they did to our garbage disposal. So if you see a function listed with the apartment double check it’s actually there. Thankfully our fans didn’t break during our time here because they really save your electric bill in the summer when you’re on the second floor(your AC will be running all day in the summer, but your heat won’t be needed in the winter since your downstairs neighbor will be heating your apartment haha). If it’s something they do replace, it’s likely you’ll actually get downgraded in model, that’s how it went for our dishwasher when it broke…we went from a digital, more modern model to an older analogue one. at the very least get the same model as before, we pay enough in rent to cover it. Second: the noise. If you end up in a unit in the 1984 building good luck because all you’ll hear is semi-trucks engine braking & locals racing down 421 all day & night. If you’re a light sleeper, you’re going to hate your life. I have for the last two years. This isn’t the complexes fault, but be aware if you end up with a unit in that building, you’ll wanna sound proof your windows more! Also in terms of noise, the air conditioner (at least in my second floor apartment) is the loudest thing in the unit. You’ll have to blast your TV to hear anything over it. Poor placement is the issue. Third: if you have a dog and live on the second floor be careful when you walk them. People who live on the first floor tend to think it’s okay to chain their dogs up unattended & pretend the complex is their back yard. So be prepared for unsupervised dogs & lots of poop. It’s always been the worst around the pond in terms of dog doo. The people who work on property are awesome, especially maintenance. They’re pretty quick to respond to work orders. However, there have been multiple occasions where I’d try to go to the office and no one was there, and then I’d come back at the time they listed they’d be back only to have the time pushed back which is annoying to say the least. There’s also been a revolving door on people who work in the office so be prepared for that.

My wife and I have lived here for the past year while searching for a home. The small town feel and the hospitality that the Employees showed us has been like family and very welcoming. Amy has histed great parties and all have been welcome. We especially like how quiet it is to live here.

My GF and I lived here for several years and attended college. We litterally could walk across the street to school. The space in our home is amazing and we had every appliance provided in our home, even washer and dryer. Ownership changed and like every change there were things to get used to. New faces, New lease, etc. But each year things improved. Current employees have been the most attentive and happy. Our change has come with graduating and getting married. We will certainly miss everything that has been taken care of for us especially the heated pool! Who knows we may be back when we retire haha.

I moved here about a year ago the office staff and maintenance are friendly. When you see any of the staff around the property they will wave or say hello. Depending on maintenance needs generally fixed within 24 hours. The grounds are well maintained. Tenants in my building are friendly and quiet with limited noise. My apartment is on the pond side, enjoy sitting outside or viewing from my living room.

I wish I could leave zero stars. I have been a resident for 5 years and ever since IGC took over from Bradley it has been a disaster. My hot water has gone out around 5 times a week since October 2020 and it has yet to be permanently fixed. When confronted about the issues, the apartment manager makes excuses, gives misinformation, and is unapologetic. My roommate and I have been paying FULL rent only to be unable to wash our hands/dishes and have been forced shower at our friends' houses. Instead of offering us somewhere to shower, Amy told us we would have to find a friend/family member who has a place we can shower OR said she could "terminate our lease today and we can find somewhere else to go that has what we want" as if that is helpful. She also suggested we start waking up earlier so emergency maintenance can come each morning to relight the water heater for us. I work as an elementary school teacher and wake up early as it is- Amy said emergency maintenance needs to come in an hour while in reality we have waited up to 3 in the past. My roommate and I are moving out in June and that can't come soon enough. I have never been treated so poorly in my life. Be warned before you consider moving in.

I was hesitant to move into an apartment complex since I had never lived in one before. It has been a great experience! The apartments are clean, spacious, and include all appliances - even a microwave! The view is pretty, my kids love it there, and my neighbors are all good people.

The Heated pool and fitness center and on snow days, the game room can be a life saver with bored kids. Of Curse we are here when you need us with the best team!
Moved in October 2019 and so far it has been an amazing place to live. My dishwasher was leaking, only when it ran, 3 months in and maintenance took care of it within 24 hours. I have a 2br/2ba and love the open concept. Plenty of space for my preference. The price is fair for the quality and available resources. No outrageous fee's and the ladies at the leasing office are so nice and accommodating. We are so happy we moved here.

I love the apartment. Its nice and feels like home. However, there are a few things that have left a sour taste in my mouth. We just moved in and signed the lease on December 31, 2019. We signed the lease too late to receive 200 off rent. However there was another promotion, stating you could get 500 off rent if you moved in before January 30. We inquired about that, and we missed that promotion, too. We apparently missed it by two days! Because of this, my family and I will not be signing a second lease. We also have a really loud knocking sound in my kid's bedroom/bathroom. We send the video to the leasing manager. Hopefully that will be rectified, as my children are 7 and 4 are scared!!! Not happy at all at the moment. Thinking this was a bad move for my family and I.

Good Morning, I am sorry to discover your feelings of unhappiness. We strive everyday to make our Residents happy. I have already added the $200 onto your account as promised. Our Maintenance team is working on a solution to the noise issue as I can appreciate moving into a new home, new noises can be irritating. Please know we respect you and your family and only want to do right by you! Please stop in or call anytime so we can discuss what we can do to create a happy home for you.
I've been a resident here at the apartment complex for approx. 2.5 years. I shall say that I've been incredibly pleased with the new management. I know that we all find any major change difficult at times. This is a given. The new Management Team here at the "The Fields of New Durham" have been very friendly/plus very open to suggestions during this transition. And yes, there have been a few (minor) hiccups, as one would expect in these circumstances. The positives however, far outweigh these minor issues. The onsite Gym/Pool is a very nice perk We now have a brand New Parking Lot-no more potholes/etc. The former management I suspect, would have never done this-and, I can't imagine the cost of this major renovation. It is also much quieter here-no loud parties and such anymore. I am often 'on call' and thus I do need to sleep. Plus, they have done other outside nice cosmetic improvements for us recently. And, since I do work very long hours for my employer, I love the dedicated Saturday Hours. After I arrived here under the former management, partial Sat. hours were then cancelled w/o any explanation given. And the minor 'package situation' I do know will be resolved shortly, as well. I however, do Not need a call/text (this is the purpose of tracking #s), nor do I require my incoming packages to be hand delivered to my residence like a valet service-which the former team did do-a nice little perk I do agree/but, very 'little else' was done for the residents of any major significance; as elucidated above. So hopefully soon there will be a 'workable solution' to this, that in essence will be a 'happy medium' for the residents as well as for the new Management Team. I suspect this is coming in very short order. The apartment complex staff also is so very nice and courteous and a pure joy to deal with. Not always the case in a large complex such this, as we all know. Deena and Marie/etc. are so cool and so willing to go out of their way to help us. Even when they are super busy/they maintain a very positive attitude and they also 'listen' and are open to suggestions(a lost art in this country in my opinion). Maintenance repairs are done quickly/and, to my satisfaction-which was Not the case in the past. I shall give 'The Fields of New Durham' (love the new name!) a 5 Star (Plus) Rating. -I've now officially cancelled my former plan to move to Valparaiso when my lease expires on April/2010.

I visited the Fields of New Durham yesterday and the new Management has made some obvious improvements. Staff is friendly and welcoming. I toured the model and it was gorgeous.

The prior owners obviously allowed the units to become outdated lacked maintenance. The new owners and management team are overwhelmed by the amount of service requests due to the lack of upkeep. However they are prioritizing each service and maintenance request. Adam and Bob are doing their best to assist every tenant. If you have seen them at the end of the day you will know how hard they have worked to bring the units up to the new management’s standards. Marie is wonderful at managing every tenant’s specific need and personality. The main issue is some of the people living here who have dogs. They lack respect for their neighbors by not curb leashing their pet. The property supplies pet waste bags and receptacles however there are quite a few bad neighbors who don’t clean up after their pet. Shame on them. One recommendation I would make is to have a “bark park” onsite along with a pet walk area. Our furry family members would love a playground.

Good luck EVER knowing what is going on at this place. The communication is terrible and nobody ever knows what they are doing. It is extremely frustrating. You get told one thing then you get told another and then neither of those things are correct.

The apartments are extremely spacious and well maintained. The entire staff is top notch ( from the office to the maintenance). It’s really a great bargain for all you get. And it’s located right next to the toll road for easy access anywhere. High recommenced

This year our apartments were purchased by another company. When we got the notice that it was being bought out, people began to panic. If you read these negative reviews, don’t take much of it to heart. People.Resist.Change. They fear the unknown. Since management is still fairly new, tenants are mistrusting. Which manifests into resistance to change. The tenants are being resentful and unfair to the new management. Marie and Bob are wonderful and kind people. It absolutely disgusts me to see some of tenants come in and verbally abuse the staff. I think a lot of you forget, they still have to report back to higher up management. Marie is such a pure hearted and kind soul. She’s so soft spoken and truly cares about everyone here. If you’ve ever talked to her, you’d see how much she cares and how she’s willing to compromise with you. Marie and Bob are working HARD. Just in the 15 mins I was in the office, she had 5 people call and 3 people come in for her. Im unsure as to why some people believe they entitled to everything and demand things. All the maintenance and communication problems are from the previous owners. The staff is trying their best to accommodate our needs. The prices are going up because they ARE CURRENTLY UPDATING UNITS. Bob is very good at his job, and remember hes just ONE person. He has come and helped me every time I had a problem. Management has made countless attempts to meet and speak with any of us that would like too. I feel like the tenants are the children and the new management is your new step parent whos trying so hard to get you to like them and you won’t give them a chance. Eventually, you’ll realize how awesome they really are and love them. I really hope people give IGCRE a chance. We are truly lucky to have such a caring team and I cant wait to see all the updates and changes to come!

We have enjoyed living here till as of recent when the new management took over. They never seem to know what they’re doing and they are not helpful at all. They also question what the maintenance man is supposed to do when you call about an issue that needs attention. We are very disappointed with this new management.

Prices have gone way up and theres no reason because nothings changed besides the management. No modern updates to substantiate the price increase. Restrooms and the kitchens especially are outdated. No nice tile, no laminate wood, no nice counters, and the cabinets and appliances are cheap. Wondering if they're going to keep increasing prices for no reason. Also the new maintenance sucks. Hes rude and doesnt care if you have a problem and it's an emergency. The other maintenance team always went above and beyond. You'll be lucky to get the new maintenance guy in to check out your problem. The ladies in the office seem nice. That's it. Super disappointed with the new management. The new management seems interested in only making more money and pushing the current tenants out.

Our plans include modern updates to cabinets and flooring (vinyl hardwood) some vacant units have already had installation. Additionally the owners have committed to the complete resurfacing of the parking lot and equipment investment into the fitness room as well as a Community room for parties. As for Maintenance, there is a 24 hour number that will have response. Work orders during regular business hours can be called into the office or put in online. Rent increased sunstantially. Trash removal is the only thing included in the rent. Over priced for area. This isn't Chesterton. Apartments are nothing special. Lowest end appliances available. Dog poop everywhere. They have pet waste dispensers but don't refill the plastic bags. I am renting in here on a way cheaper lease. Once it's over, I'm gone.

Your rent and Utility Pkg includes Water usage fees, trash disposal, sewer fees, cable and internet. This place is a scam, they are just trying to get your NON-REFUNDABLE application fee of 60 dollars. They have a bogus 125 dollar utility fee (electricity not included) that they tap on top of the rent to make it appear cheaper. Very unfriendly staff, don't rent here.

Most Apartment Communities charge the applicant a non-refundable fee to process the application. The fee is used to do Credit and Criminal background check on each applicant over the age of 18. We do offer a Service Bundle that includes some of your utilities: water, sewer, trash, recycling, Comcast cable and Comcast internet. All of our Marketing and Advertising material clearly states that gas and electric are the residents responsibility.
