Tucked into the mountains in the middle of the Coconino National Forest, Flagstaff encompasses everything fascinating about Arizona. It is in the shadow of the state's tallest mountain -- Humphreys Peak, and it is home to the Arizona Snowbowl Ski Resort. It is also near the Wupatki National Monument, Walnut Canyon National Monument, Meteor Crater, and Grand Canyon National Park. But while the outdoor adventures in Flagstaff range from hiking and mountain biking to snow skiing and snowboarding, this isn't just a resort city -- Flagstaff is home to Northern Arizona University, a top-ranked, public research university established in 1899.
Being home to one of the world's best universities is just the beginning. Flagstaff is also the location of the Lowell Observatory, one of the oldest observatories in the country, dating back to 1894. Considered one of the world's most important places, the observatory was where Pluto was discovered in 1930.

Property Ratings at University Square Apartments
I moved here thinking I found somewhere close to campus that isn't party central. I work night shifts and study when I'm not sleeping, so I need somewhere quiet. When we toured we thought it was a cute, quaint little place that seemed quiet enough. Boy were we wrong. 1 month after we move into this place, they start repainting and doing repairs. The 'station' where the workers kept their equipment was directly outside my window so every day at 6:30 am you hear them starting their work (I am in no way blaming the workers, I know it's their job). This goes on for at least 2-3 months. After it's over, I was relieved I would finally get some quiet, but no. A month-ish after that's finished, they start repainting the perfectly fine parking lot. 5 months of construction and endless maintenance and I am so ready to move out. I haven't even mentioned the plethora of problems in the actual apartments. Broken door knobs, useless locks, cabinets falling apart, toilets not working, etc. Waking up to the water being turned off and checking your email to find a 30 minute heads up for the water being off half the day. Half the dryers broken at any given time and the wonderful addition of pet owners not picking up after their pets. They only charge so much for these awfully cheap apartments because students like me will take the bait. That is a common theme in Flagstaff, though. The location is great and the community is nice as well, I haven't had any noise problems from my neighbors. If it weren't for the constant barrage of maintenance, I would probably like living here. It's crappy quality but it's probably one of the cheapest apartments you'll find in Flagstaff.

We are so sorry this has been your experience since moving in this summer. I know it doesn’t seem like it when you’re inconvenienced – but keeping up with building maintenance, painting, etc. – is our way of trying to keep our community nice for our valued residents. Regarding your interior, please reach out to me directly. You should never have to live with anything broken or not working – so let me know and I will be happy to put those work orders in for you personally. Finally, when you reach out to me with the work orders – let’s talk about the rest. We truly want you to have a great experience living here, and I will work with you to make it right. My name is Karen, the District Manager – and you can reach me at kdalonso@bellainvgroup.com – or by calling the office. We remain here to listen and to help. Speak soon!
This year has been the worst living situation I have ever been in. If I could give it negative stars, I would. I will also be personally suggesting that no one I know ever live here. Save the trouble and don't even try. The staff is bad at their jobs, and my lease was JUST processed three months after moving in (after several drafts where names were misspelled, people were forgotten, and pets were left off the lease) EVEN THOUGH all of the paper work was in and completed within the first week of move in. When the website crashed and rent was denied, we were charged a late fee, even though we went in with a check the next day and it STILL has not been processed a week later. The late fees have added up even though it is not our fault that the site crashed and the account was deleted. During this site crash, the main resident of my apartment was taken off and so she could not pay it. When this was fixed, three new credit card numbers were added to the account, none of which were ours. This is a giant law suit waiting to happen since my apartment had access to that information due to a failure in their system. It makes me wonder what other sensitive information is not cared for and treated with the discretion and importance it deserves. Since we are good people, we were able to go to the office and request for it to be removed. I highly suggest you look somewhere else that will do their jobs.

First of all, thank you for your honest feedback, as it gives us information on where to grow. We want to invite you to come down to the office and discuss this with us, as we are confused by some of the issues we reconciled quite some time ago. We did reverse all your fees – as we couldn’t agree more – if there is a glitch in our system we certainly don’t penalize our residents! And we sincerely apologize for the delay in your lease this past summer. We always want to make things right, so if you’re still upset – please come talk to us so we have the opportunity to continue speaking into whatever you need. Feel free to reach out to me, Karen, personally at kdalonso@bellainvgroup.com. Thank you.
University square does a splendid job of resolving issues, completing maintanence requests, and bringing the residents together via events, holiday celebrations, or social media. It is conveniently close to NAU, food, transportation, and retail stores. I'm surprised it's not more expensive to live here! Jamie our new property manager, has flipped this place from 2 stars, to 5 in less than a year and I truly feel at home living here! Thank you for making me feel like a resident and not an apartment number. -Devyn

We love hearing that you feel like a resident and not an apartment number, this means so much to us! We are happy to hear that your experience has changed for the better, and we look forward to continuing making your time here memorable.
University Square has become a second home to us. The ladies working in the office make every resident feel welcomed, appreciated, and heard. Maintenance work is done almost immediately, and the office puts on many community events. We love living at this apartment complex and will be sad to graduate and move after NAU!

We are so happy that our staff, office and maintenance, are working to make your time here the best. We love hearing that you consider US your second home!
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They are terrible at communication, and lie about making efforts to contact residents and potential residents until it is essentially too late to fix anything. I have lived there for a year now and everything breaks down at least once per month- I contact maintenance regularly, and they are the only ones that bother to respond in a time-sensitive manner, thank goodness. The only good thing about this place is that it is close to campus, but there are many other complexes within the same distance that are much better. This place is not worth your money or your time.

One of the best living locations I've come across. The location is right where it should be. Stores a walk-in distant. Very social remedy that comes from such a living space. I'm gonna recommend to friends and family.
The management team is all new so living here has been a headache. They got a new system that none of them know how to work and so random charges end up on my bill that I have to argue all the time. THEY. HAVE. NO. IDEA. WHAT. THEY. ARE. DOING. If you like constant noise, maintenance, and dog feces everywhere then this is the place for you. There's noise all the time that no one monitors. I moved in and the carpet was bad and so were the spackel jobs, nothing had really been done to improve what the previous tenant ruined. They're always schedule random maintenance on the stairwells, on the apartment buildings and within the apartment itself so if you like strangers working in your apartment 2-3 times during the month then this is the place for you. They allow pets but the owners of the pets are not really that responsible as they leave feces EVERYWHERE. I've stepped in it a minimum of 5 times and it gets pretty annoying. Especially when it snows and people think that that will cover it up. I've heard so many stories of better apartment complexes to live so if you can find another place, PLEASE DO SO. You will save yourself a lot of stress and headaches. The only reason I'm staying is I got locked into a lease and have to wait until it's over to move.
