Property Ratings at University Village at Clemson
Horrible charge people $100 for blinds when my blinds are perfectly fine. When I go to the office they showed me a picture of the wrong room and said they made a mistake. Happen to other people I know who stay at the apartment. Pays a company to come out in pressure wash connects it to your building and charges you for that. Water bill goes up. Charges an electricity overage bill of around $20 month. Management is horrible. Have to mail the keys in when you’re moving out. Pool is always closed for 10 months out the year. Wifi is horrible

Hi Jeremiah - thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We strive to provide a great living experience for all of our residents and regret that it seems we've fallen short here. Please know that we've taken note of your comments and will be utilizing them to improve moving forward.
They won't answer the phone when you call. They handle water bills by a third party. The water bill was over $500 for one month and divide that by four. Ridiculous! Wouldn't recommend at all.
Maintenance personnel comes into your apartment before you get a chance to open the door. You can be asleep in bed early in the morning and they just walk in. As a matter of fact, maintenance just walked in. Didn't get a chance to even open the door. Also, it was noted at move in that air vents needed to be cleaned. I have been sick on and off since I moved into the apartment. HVAC company came in last week and inspected, even asked if I had any health issues. When I said yes, he said it makes sense. I would not recommend living here. Apartment flooded during winter break and I was not notified. When I returned there was a hole in my bathroom wall and carpets were wet in the living space. During repairs, a bug problem was discovered. I just want people to be aware because once you sign a lease they will not let you out of it.

Thank you for your feedback on your experience. We regret that your experience has been less than excellent. We strive to improve our community on a daily basis and want to ensure that all our company policies are being upheld. In order to ensure that we do our very best we have thoroughly provided detailed information and instructions in our lease to prevent any maintenance discrepancies. Our company notifies our residents for any inspections in advance unless it is deemed an emergency or when we need to do an immediate inspection. We always have our name badges, announce ourselves, knock multiple times prior to entering a unit. We only enter a unit during hours of 9am -5pm unless it is an emergency. When a work order is entered then it is the responsibility of the resident to notify their roommates. In order to provide the best service we request that all maintenance issues are submitted in writing either by email or work order. You have recently notified us that the resident has been sick and they believe it was due to HVAC dust/dirt. We were never notified previously in a work order or via email until March 27th. We contacted a vendor to have the ducts inspected and cleaned within 8 business days due to vendor scheduling. A few days later we were also notified of mildew in windows from the resident's parents and we entered a work order on their behalf. On April 3rd, we immediately checked the windows and noticed some condensation and moisture buildup. Our maintenance team immediately cleaned the windows and caulked inside and outside the window. We are monitoring this situation. Our maintenance department does quarterly inspections and puts in a new air filter once a quarter and cleans the interior HVAC coils twice a year but it is the responsibility of the resident to change the air filters monthly according to the lease. During winter break, the unit on the 3rd floor had a busted water heater. We immediately replaced the water heater, checked all units underneath the apartment and remediated within 48 hours. We had a vendor extract all water and add dehumidifiers to prevent any growth. We did not contact your specific unit as there was very minimal water in the flooring and we were able to get it dry within 48 hours. The time of this occurrence was on December 26th and 27th. We had all of the water damage repaired on December 27th. We were not notified by any residents in this unit of residual water or damage to their unit. During our quarterly inspections in February we noticed that the bathroom had shower wall damage. We entered a work order on behalf of the resident to ensure this wall damage was repaired. While making this repair we noticed termites and immediately notified our pest control for treatment and then repaired the wall within 5 business days. In the future, please ensure that all maintenance issues are in writing via work order or email so we can rectify any issues in a timely manner. We understand you would like to continue living in your unit until July 25th but would like to be released from your renewal. We do not have a lease breaking option. However, we do offer a sublease clause in our lease if you would like to go in that direction. For more information on this process please feel free to reach out to us!
I feel safe living here especially since most of us are students and I have different friends living here. The bus is also a nice distance a and I don’t have to walk far in the mornings
University Village is getting better. The front desk staff are amazing and seem really helpful when you need help. However, the maintenance team needs to do better which answering work orders.

I have been living at UV for 2 years and to be honest, I like it and I plan on staying here for the rest of my time at Clemson.

Hi! Thank you so much for your great review! We love hearing that you have enjoyed your time here and that you want to continue living at UV! We love our residents and we love to have a community they can feel at home in. If you ever need anything from us please do not hesitate to reach out, we are always happy to help!
I used to love this place at first. They would be very nice at start. But eventually when you continue to live here, they will charge for anything. They have quarterly inspections and come unannounced and charge you for everything. They will never resolve any issues with the other people living. It was like living hell with some of the roommates. They kept on opening windows and all. The HVAC never works. Had lot of issues. Fridge was leaking multiple times and they didn’t give a permanent choice.

We are sorry to hear that you had a less than amazing experience with us here at University Village. Maintenance conducts regular inspections that residents are notified of, this is to ensure that everything in the apartment is in good working order. The only reason a resident would be charged is if there was damage reported during the inspection. Maintenance always works hard to ensure that all reported issues are fixed in a timely manner. With roommate issues, management does everything they can to resolve roommate issues and we are very sorry to hear you had a bad experience with your roommates. If there is anything we can do to help please feel free to reach out or come by the front office to speak with someone about the issues you have had. We are always willing to help in any way we can to improve our resident's experience at UV.
When we first moved in we thought this apartment would be nice. Eventually we started receiving messages from the owner saying that they would inspect our apartment or show our apartment to potential renters. The messages they would send would be sent 5-8 hours before they would invade our apartment and there was nothing we could do. One time I was coming out of the shower, and a man had let himself in and was standing in my room inspecting it. Also, we had multiple leaks in our apartment ceiling and it would take 3-4 days for maintenance to come fix the leaks. The way they would fix the leaks would be spray painting white paint over them and hoping that the leak would stop. Also the Wi-Fi here is terrible to the point I had to land-wire my computer to the wall. Finally, we signed up for barstools to be included in our apartment and asked for them multiple times and never received them. If you want a annoying and stressful experience, stay here. If not, go somewhere else

Collin, thank you for sharing your feedback and leaving an honest review again. As stated prior, we regretfully hear of your experience with us and deeply regret that we did not match your expectations. It looks as though you have recently moved out and have vacated the apartment. We deeply regret hearing that these issues could not be improved before you left our community. Regarding those issues, a Preiss company representative is always present with the realtor companies who notify us for an appointment. If this was not the case, the realtor company went above our bounds and entered without our knowledge. With maintenance, we are diligently serving over 1200 residents and always do our best to provide proper and prompt service through our team and vendors. To follow, the barstools you requested are not a part of the furniture floorplan package that you opted into. You were in a condo floorplan, which only comes with the dining room table and chairs as opposed to the barstool set that comes with a Townhome only floorplan. We set a high standard for ourselves, and again, regret hearing this was not met in your interaction with our staff during your time with us. Thank you!
They won’t listen to their tenants concerns. A dog was hit and killed in the parking lot and when we asked for speed bumps they blocked us on their insta and refused to listen to us.
Almost all of the reviews of students living here are 1 star (would be 0 if possible). If you like flooded apartments and maintenance to do NOTHING about it, then by all means, sign a lease. And they will come in whenever they please, so don't even think about getting a pet and paying the ridiculous pet fee. Because maintenance will not respect that OR your privacy. This place needs new management or just be torn down altogether.
I have lived here for about 2 years now, and I wish I signed anywhere else. One day out of the blue a police officer showed up and handed me an EVICTION notice. It was filled with the court against me from UV because I “didn’t pay rent” when I in fact DID and was charged rent twice. There was no email, phone call or text sent to be before this police officer showed up at my door. Their explanation was a "computer issue". There is a massive roach problem and they spray but it does nothing. University Village is honestly one of the worst places to live in Clemson. There are many other apartment complex’s to live and I am sure you can find them for the same price as UV.
The roach problem is bad and they spray but it only does so much, they aren’t very helpful when you’re locked out your room and roaches are everywhere spraying only keeps them away for so long. The kitchen was disgusting when I moved in it wasn’t clean at all you truly get what you pay for.
Management does not listen. My friend and I requested we live on the second floor to get away from the bug and water issues we have on the first floor, but they completely ignored us. Never came to spray for bugs after repeatedly telling them about it and when we had water get under our carpet the first time they just sent a guy to vacuum it and the second time they did nothing so it mildewed both times. Do not live here. Anywhere is better than here.
I love living here. Rent is reasonable and includes all utilities minus any overage for the power, which is split amongst roommates evenly. I live in one of the townhouses and the only problem I have is being able to here people talking through the walls here and there.
This apartment is great for being right next to Clemson, SC. Pet friendly and great neighbors. If you love being able to go out to exercise, swim, or play at the dog park this is a great place to be. I am looking to eventually move to Charleston, SC but I love my apartment here. Emily H, Clemson SC
