Property Ratings at Upper Ivy Residences
Apartment building has some flaws. First, apartments are very noisy. Particularly on the side facing the Ivy Station restaurants and metro stop, you can hear everything going on. Unlike many buildings of the same age, A/C system is pretty shoddy. At move-in, the A/C was broken. Even after it was fixed, the apartment was either roasting or freezing. Before move out the management company failed to provide the required pre-move out inspection itemized statement. They nevertheless withheld the bulk of the deposit for "damage" to the unit. However, they were unable to identify a specific reason or documentation beyond an invoice saying the apartment was fully cleaned and fully painted. The place was professionally cleaned before move-out, so its unclear what the justification for the additional cleaning was or why the apartment needed to be fully repainted.

Clean, safe, well-appointed. So grateful to be here. Security staff at Ivy Station at night solved my concern about living by a train stop. I’ve walked my dog at midnight and didn’t feel bothered while on the grounds.0

I’m new to Upper Ivy and have loved every minute since I’ve moved in! The staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful no matter the situation. overall, upper ivy is a great option if you want to be close to all the action of downtown Culver City. very nice facility with professional and responsive staff. fairly priced and will work with you to meet your needs. seems like they are invested in building a community amongst the residents which is a huge plus.

Management is never available, always gone - never picks up phone or responds to emails. Management mislead us on certain aspects of our lease and now we're stuck with two major inconveniences.

I love the location of this property, great walkability great amenities, office staff is pretty nice when dealing with them. The floors between the units are the toughest so you dear hear your above neighbor, But if you lived in Los Angeles all your life you expect that from apartments at times so its not a big deal. honestly love the quiet community. People that complain still renew so its a great place. :) Looking forward to see all the great things they have coming in the future. Events wise.

The amenities are nice and the location is walkable to Platform. The ceilings/floors are extremely thin, so we could hear every footstep of the people above us. It was clear that management did not care about residents whatsoever. Maybe because the management constantly turned over. No one who worked there when we moved in still worked there when we moved out. There was constant noise from events held at Ivy Station. We were told when we toured that there would be farmers markets and yoga on the lawn. Instead, there were lots of events blasting loud music until late at night. The worst thing would be large construction machines that beeped loudly from 8PM to 3 or 4AM every few weeks to change the ads on the side of the platform. The lawn was actually the main reason we chose the apartment, so that our dog would have room to run around. Our leasing agent said that dogs were welcome on the lawn, but not even a month later, a big sign went up banning dogs. This was enforced strictly by the security guards, who seemed more interested in enforcing management’s rules than protecting residents (someone on the platform literally threw glass bottles at our window while the security guards did nothing). On the financial side, we were given a rent concession as a special to be applied on our 3rd and 5th months. Both times, the concession was not applied and we had to contact management repeatedly to have the issue fixed. No one seemed to care that we were charged more money than we were supposed to be charged, and they had either no idea or no interest in fixing it. Our last month of rent was supposed to be prorated since we were moving out halfway through the month, but they charged us the entire month. When we went to ask about it, they wrote down a number on a post it and told us to just pay that and leave a balance, which felt super weird. Upon moving out, they kept almost our entire security deposit despite us leaving the apartment in great condition. We were charged $170 for cleaning, $199 for water when our monthly water bill was typically around $30, and a ridiculous $495 for paint. I have never lived in an apartment where they charged for painting what should be covered by normal wear and tear. They also didn’t send us a list of what we were charged for until we sent several emails and called several times. Our first few emails were ignored. Overall, this place looks nice on the outside, but seriously deserves to be investigated for their sketchy practices.

Great location with super easy access to public transportation. Well maintained and modern apartments. Getting into the garage can be annoying, but it is at least very secure. If you like walking to places and using public transportation this is the apartment complex for you.

Upper Ivy aesthetically is an amazing apartment building but good management is what seems to be lacking here. I had a major plumbing issue in my unit for which I was not contacting until 48 hours later. It then took 7.5 hours to fix the issue but no communication was provided while maintenance would pop in and out (at one point leaving for 2 hours). A giant hole was present after the fix for which I was not contacted on when it would be patched. Multiple times I had to chase down people to do their job and as a resident, that is unsettling. Overall, the process was a mess and I would not recommend Upper Ivy to future residents as they don’t seem to care about issues unless they are pressed to do something about it.

I’ll start off with the pros - great location! - good amenities - clean Cons - you can hear every single noise from upstairs - not really dog friendly - dogs aren’t allowed outside their homes? Very strange - no overnight guest parking or free guest parking spots - nobody wears a mask in the gym

Hi There, We appreciate your feedback and thank you for your complements on our amenities. Were sorry you have some cons or unfavorable experiences about Upper Ivy. I just wanted to mention that Upper Ivy is definitely dog friendly, we have a designated potty area, pet spa in P1, and they are definitely allowed around the community as long as they are on a leash. True, they are not allowed in some common areas like the pool or on top of interior furniture, and that’s due to hygienic and cleanliness reason. Please keep in mind not everyone in the community is pet friendly so we also have to have a balance and respect those preferences by setting these rules. Guest and overnight parking is unfortunately not very common is developments like ours. Luckily, Ivy Station is able to accommodate guest and overnight parking in their retail parking garage for Upper Ivy guest in P1. Entrance to the guest parking is next to the residential entrance on both Venice and National Blvd. We also have a validation system for Upper Ivy guest. Apologies if this information was not clear when you moved in. If you ever experience any unreasonable noise from your neighbors or see someone around the community not following policy, like not wearing masks at the gym, feel free to give us a call or stop by the leasing office and we can immediately address the issue. Unfortunately, we don’t have the manpower to have eyes on the property at all times, so we appreciate when residents notify us in real time. Upper Ivy was one of the first properties we toured when moving to LA and it won us over immediately. The space is so well thought out all around the property, and its central location in Culver City can't be beat. We've had a great experience with the leasing, concierge and maintenance staff and feel like all of our needs have been met quickly. We'd recommend Upper Ivy to anyone looking for a new place on the west side.

Upper Ivy is a place where the feeling of home meets the feeling of being on a resort. It is such a beautiful property, well positioned in LA with a walk score well into the upper 90s! It has everything in just a few short moments of travel time. The property is amazing and well kept. The units are beautiful and some with such unique layouts.
