Property Ratings at Uptown East
The people are very nice here and I really enjoy living in Uptown East! Definitely would recommend!!
Loved living here! Great apartment, comes fully furnished!!
Everytime they say their going to call and have the air or the heat fix it takes up to two weeks maybe a month. The manager never goes through on what they say, and is horrible to interact with. To the owners of uptown get rid of the manager!

Hi, we regret to hear that you had a negative experience with us, but would appreciate the chance to turn your experience around. Feel free to reach out to the office to speak with a manager.
I will write the positive first location, that's it. Now if you feel like not having good internet, poor cable, having management not helping, paying for parking for only 4 days a week ( because friday-sunday you don't need a parking pass) not being able to find parking for you and guest move right in. Management is mostly inexperienced college students. It also seems fees pop up out of the blue also. You need to pay close attention to your rent because it will get messed up and they will not tell you for a few months so fees add up. Just because it's furnished and everyrhing is included in rent doesn't make it a good place to move in. Paying $200-300 for 6 month parking pass. If something breaks it may or may not get fixed too. Happy hunting

As the title suggests, this is my first apartment. I wanted to live elsewhere, but as my parents are helping me out some financially, Uptown was decided on. That said, I'm not sure if the price is fair, despite the amenities included. I've been living in a two-bedroom apartment with no roommate, as you can pay extra to have it all to yourself, and it's alright. I chose it because I wanted the larger kitchen, however I would've changed to a one-bedroom because those apartments have balconies. The lack of a balcony really makes it feel like a dorm room, which was what I was trying to escape from since I'm a graduate student at the university. Pros: Very close to the university. The 2 bedroom apartments have a four-burner stovetop, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and plenty of cabinets. The gym in the office building is open 24/7 with your key fob. It's very basic but does the job with several weights, cardio machines, and two other machines. Pet-friendly. It costs extra for a cat/dog/large animal. But critters like turtles and fish are no extra charge. Rodents are probably free of charge too. Washer/Dryer! You can nail stuff into the walls to hang things up. IKEA is about 1.5 hours away in Bolingbrook. Cons: Parking for guests is very difficult/scary. I always ask the office if it's fine for my guest to park on LaPorte over the weekend, and they say it's fine as the permits residents have for that street are only valid Monday-Thursday night apparently. My HVAC unit is not accurate about the room temperature in the apartment, always thinking it's several degrees warmer than it is, and it sounds old/noisy and rattling. I've sent in requests for it, but I think that's just how things are. It's difficult to drop to a shorter lease. The lightbulbs are all tungsten/yellow,. My suggestions: If you are going to pay for a reserved spot, do not take the ones closest to the Uptown Cafe. A lot of people from the public will park in your spot. I would recommend getting an apartment that faces South to take advantage of the sun. North facing apartments feel very dark. Get a Brita filter Invest in a nice memory foam mattress topper. Replace the kitchen table's chandelier with fluorescent lightbulbs. It'll make your apartment feel a lot brighter.

Coming from someone that has lived here for over 2 years, the pros definitely don't outweigh the cons. Don't buy into their trap! The place looks nice at first but it's not worth the money they basically steal from you all the time. You can find a much better place for a lower cost. Pros: Super convenient, especially for nursing students. It's right off campus which makes it easy to get around to classes. They give out a LOT of free food & opportunities to win gift cards and they put on some pretty fun events! Staff is super kind, especially maintenance. Also, they're pet friendly & don't have breed restrictions (I have a pit bull!) Cons: When I was touring, they didn't show me a one bedroom which is what I wanted. Then they neglected to tell me that the "bedroom door" is actually an accordion door & it should be considered a studio apartment & the "oven" is literally your microwave functioning as an oven. It's the WORST b/c you can't microwave & cook something at the same time. Baking in my tiny kitchenette is pointless if I forget to microwave an ingredient before preheating the oven. It takes forever to preheat & I have to wait 10 minutes for it to cool down before I can use the microwave again. The whole place is a rip off. The owners of the property are SO cheap even though staff is awesome. When I moved in, I was technically "subletting", but it's not actually subletting because it's all done through the office & people are only allowed to sublet for the summer when they're not in school. I walked into my apartment & found hair/dust EVERYWHERE, & even found socks/plastic baggies stuffed in the couch. Let me repeat: THE OWNERS ARE SO CHEAP. The best part about this place WAS the manager, but they screwed that up. Oh, & wifi is so inconsistent. Lastly: PARKING! If you want an overnight guest, good LUCK. Every spot on the street is designated for passes & if the office isn't open when you want a guest pass they WILL TOW. I've seen the tow truck out at LEAST weekly since I've moved in. They've towed my boyfriend's car even after explicitly telling him they wouldn't. If you do decide to live here & get a pass, get a numbered one. Then you're at least guaranteed a spot.
