From the shore of Bde Maka Ska lake to the thriving businesses along Lyndale Avenue, Uptown serves as a major hub for arts and entertainment in Minneapolis. The music scene has deep roots, with legendary alumni such as Prince getting their start in Uptown. The nightlife tends to be a bit more subdued than the nearby Warehouse District, but still incorporates dozens of bars and nightclubs catering to a variety of tastes. The neighborhood is known for its artistic flair, reflected in the abundance of public artworks and popular events like the Uptown Art Fair.
When it comes to living in Uptown Minneapolis, folks have several great options. Most of the neighborhood is residential, with everything from historic apartment buildings to large single-family homes lining the streets. The extensive network of tree-shaded sidewalks make it simple to reach your favorite café or neighborhood pub on foot, and Downtown is easily within biking distance.

Property Ratings at Uptown Lake Apartments
Just moved in and so far so good. Clean hallways and a clean gym! The heater/AC has been working well. Shawmen from the leasing office has been very communicative and very responsive when I have a problem or question.
This place has gone severely downhill time and time again. Right now is worst it’s been. Management does not communicate unless you make yourself a problem. Gave one day notice for construction that they said would take a month, were two weeks past that now with no updates (which they said they would do) with a careless construction crew who blasts music, yells, throws siding into peoples windows, smoked in the courtyard, and make noise for twelve hours a day and still somehow have barely anything done. They leave the doors open which let in HUGE flies and tons of sawdust all over the first floor. The trash room access is blocked from half the building unless you trek across the building to an elevator or take stairs up and down to get there (the building layout is terrible for the first floor). Had a security guard for about a month before they decided it cost too much (this is cushman and Wakefield. You can afford it.) which we had gotten because of the number of domestics, homeless people getting in and setting fires, and people coming in and stealing packages. The courtyard has been trashed all summer which was complained about since spring but they decided to just put it off and do construction instead. Why do we pay a premium for amenities we can’t even use and management who refuses to communicate unless you force them to.
So far so good!!! I love this location and the community seems real welcoming. I was worried with this being a older building that I’d have a bunch of problems but none so far
The only issue I have is that it takes awhile for the water to get hot and that it takes awhile to get ahold of someone in the front office Other than that the place is pretty good I have no issues it’s quite.
Place has gone down hill. Half of the doors are broken, management pretended they were going to hire security at the beginning of the year but I guess they just gave up on that. Weeds near the Lagoon street entrance haven’t been cut back all summer. Overall value of the place has plummeted since I moved in but some how the rent has substantially increased
Just moved in and loving the space and community so far! So many cool spots to visit in the neighborhood and new restaurants to try out with friends.
I enjoy living at Uptown Lake Apartments the community is excellent and the Management Team is awesome.
Do not use the online pictures as your reference. Apartment I rented had so many things wrong with it I can’t even begin to explain. I would highly recommend living elsewhere
I have disliked living here immensely. Between the water leaks, hot water problems, filth of the common spaces, security issues, package delivery problems, thefts and homeless people being let in, I can’t see why anyone with any sense would remain living here.
The fire alarms go off randomly day or night all year, we’ve had so many maintenance issues and sometimes have had to call or put in several maintenance requests to get something fixed
Uptown Lakes is a beautiful property. The building always looks and smells clean when walking through. The parking garage is a great bonus. I love the location, because it's walking distance to a lot of places in Uptown!
Everyone was so helpful and welcoming with my move in. I have never had an easier experience. Very professional!
This place isn't a luxury apartments it's has nice neighbors but overall it's not the best place to live.
We stayed at Uptown Lake Apartments for about a year and a half. We liked our unit for the most part, but had issues with the building and management's lack of action. PROS: Staff was friendly, we got back our full security deposit, were able to negotiate a lower price for parking. The managers were also flexible when we were looking for a house but decided to renew our rent; our rent stayed the same after renewing. The price is lower than most places in Uptown, while offering attractive room layouts. Very dog friendly (some may consider this a con, as there were a few loud dogs in the building). Neighbors were mostly friendly as well. CONS: - Poor security; packages stolen almost daily; homeless people sleeping in the stairways - Amenities exaggerated and/or unusable - Very long wait time for maintenance (some requests were never fulfilled) - CO leak and burst water pipes in the garage - Dog poop and garbage covered the sidewalk - Management didn't respond to my partner via email, only me - Some messes in the hallways/stairwells were never cleaned and I had to clean them myself - Sidewalks only shoveled a few times in the winter - And more... For the area it's in, this place really needs better security. I saw a drive-by shooting while I was taking my dog out, and another time there was a motorcycle race that ended in a crash. A woman's car was stolen with her infant inside. All of this happened right outside my unit. Many nights my partner and I were kept awake by drag racers and gunshots.
The staff of Uptown Lake Apartments has been awesome! They made the whole process so simple and they work with you every step of the way to make sure that theres nothing to worry about! Plus, the apartments are super cozy and the building is so quiet! Im really glad I chose Uptown Lake Apartments!
Terrible security, non-existent community features, bad gym. And front office staff that is fairly unhelpful due to probably having little or no say in the building management in matters that are important for the residents. Looks like the Management company just takes the money meant for providing its 'management services', building amenities and security and does nothing with it for the residents.
Great place, good community of neighbors, easy access to entertainment.
The apartments themselves are wonderful, spacious, up to date and fairly priced considering how pricey Uptown rent can be. But, I have had over $500 of packages stolen while renting for a year and management doesn't have much to say or do about it. There was also some security issues with external doors being propped open a lot and noisiness from neighbors that went largely unaddressed.
Excellent team and very satisfied with my new home
Great community, helpful staff! Taylor and Jackie are AWESOME and they always help me resolve minor issues in a reasonable timeline. Maintenance is also very helpful and professional. In my opinion, this building is by far the best bang for your buck in Uptown!
Friendly, professional staff. Great location and amenities. Very well kept facilities. Prompt maintenance request fulfillment.
Quality apartment with good amenities and a great location for a fair price. Very friendly and responsive management.
Management team (Jackie and Taylor) are great people. Love them honestly. But maintenance seriously needs to be held accountable and improved
It's been great so far! The people here are friendly, we have a great mix of tenants, from young college/professional aged, to families, and seniors. The location is fabulous--easy walking distance to retail, grocery, public transit, and the freeways. And (with assistance to open the building's exterior door), great accessibility for disabled residents, too! We picked this building because of the location & accessibility, and it's exceeded our hopes, wonderfully!
Tenants here like to party, and at times our building's noise rivals that of a college dorm.
Uptown Lake Apartments have been great so far! From the Leasing Agent, Jackie to maintenance. Usually some apartments in uptown area it takes awhile for Maintenance to reach out to your problems so Ive been really impressed and think otherwise now - At least with Uptown Lake Apartments. Jackie also is doing a fantastic job keeping tenants up to date with everything including packages, events, and most especially any changes during the 2019-2020 pandemic.
After four years in LA, I moved back home to MN. The team at Uptown Lake Apartments listened to my needs, shared the benefits of being a resident and made my move incredibly easy. I love my high ceilings, in unit laundry and cozy fireplace! Who doesn't want heated underground parking in MN?!
If your looking for a place that is nice quality, conveniently located, and affordable, ULA is your spot. I've been a resident here for over a year now and resigned for 13 more months. The office staff (ie: Jackie) is always helpful and maintenance issues were resolved timely. ULA also does happy hours from time to time, so take advance of that! Get the underground parking, you'll thank yourself Mid-December. On the flip side, the hot tub is just OK and I have used it a handful of times. I like the convenient workout room but prefer a membership elsewhere. The courtyard/grills are OK, but again, your not paying for the amenities here, your paying for a quality spacious apartment. Did a lot of apartment hunting and I don't think you will find a better spot for the price.
Will not live here after lease is up and will not recommend anyone else to live here too.
Fun location, some of the most affordable, high square-foot apartments in the area. Professional staff.
Since moving into Uptown Lake Apartments nearly a year ago, the staff has been incredibly caring and helpful. They really make the place feel like home. Whenever I have an issue I know Jackie, Taylor and Richard will be quick to respond and Chuck can come to the rescue. I will definitely be re-signing, and this team is the main reason for that. Not to mention, everyone who lives in the building is fun and the apartments are beautiful.
I love Uptown Lake Apartments. It is prime Uptown real estate and puts you right in the center of Minneapolis culture. I love being walking distance to three grocery stores, a shopping mall, and the chain of lakes! The staff is very friendly and courteous and so are the residents.
I have been a resident here for two years. Based on my first year here I would have rated this place a 5, but there was a change in staffing and the service I have received is unacceptable. I pay extra money to park in a private garage in which my car has been towed out of and my locked bike was stolen. The cheap fridge they had in our apartment broke and leaked everywhere. They had to tear out the floors and part of the walls, they never replaced the trim boards and they left our apartment unlocked and unattended. We also had a problem with our door, over two months after we told them they still had not repaired it, so I had to repair it myself. The door to the courtyard has been broken for months. The hot tub was barely operational at all this year. The hot tub is only open during the summer, they don't tell you that when they give you a tour... This place is priced similar to high end apartments in the area, but does not have nearly the amenities or service.
Nothing but terrible things to say about this property. Awful management, office is constantly closed when you need to pick up packages or have concerns. Staff seems to not care about their residents. Maintenance requests are slow and not high priority. During my stay there have been multiple break ins at the "secure" parking garage, including stolen bikes, smashed windows and a stolen car. Nothing was done at all to upgrade security. No amenities are offered except a courtyard which is constantly trashed and filled with pet waste. The hot tub in the courtyard is dirty and closes at 10pm and is shut down all winter long. My roommate and I are trying to break the lease for these reasons yet we still are not able to waive the $3500 lease break fee. Highly recommend looking elsewhere in Uptown for a place to live, much better options nearby that offer better amenities at a similar price.
If you are looking to be in one of the best apartments in Uptown Minneapolis... Look no further. You need to live in Uptown Lake Apartments! Steps away from Minneapolis' best restaurants, biking paths, lakes and parks, why would you want to move anywhere else? On top on the outstanding location, this apartment has a community workout room, hot tub, outdoor grills and monthly bonding events.
Nice place. We have a 2 bed/1.5 bath lofted style with balcony. Rooms are well separated and there is never a problem with noise from neighbors. Apartment is clean and updated with all the appliances you need, including washer/dryer. Heated underground parking for $100/month, however you only get 1 parking spot per room to start and will have to go on a waiting list to get another one (even if you have a 2 bedroom apartment). The location is great, one mile from Lake Calhoun with many restaurants, bars and stores very close by. Also within the metro transit system so it is very easy to get to downtown, St. Paul, the mall, or the airport.
