Property Ratings at URBAN CENTER
I love this place Shantel is very soft spoken with so much charisma, she is very helpful even in stressful situations. Having a landlord that puts the tenants first will always be a plus for me. Please go in and say hi to her and the staff to see what I mean 100%
They says illogical arguments and not interested in renting out apartments. I was moving to Seattle and tried to book one of the apartment and have given application fee and deposit after apartment visit based on the info provided by a representative. Later from my application, they figured out that my present job is going to end and I'm going to start a new job. Then they says they will count both income at once and thus I will be above the income limit. They don't understand that I'm not going to have two jobs or two incomes at the same time. Illogical arguments.

This place has lots of pros and cons. Personally, I like the location. Right next to the park and ride, close to the mall, grocery stores, freeway entrance, etc. The price isnt bad and does include water, sewage and garbage with a trash chute on every floor. Theres an elevator (slow, but its there), and key fob entrance into the buildings. But, parking is awful. When I moved in they told me it would be $75 for a garage spot, and $100 for a second spot for my roommate, otherwise you can pray to get a spot in the open lot, or walk over from the park and ride. Plus there is a fee to get your car registered into whatever system tracks who is parked there. This also means when you have a guest parked here, they must also register their car. If they don't, a giant sticker thats hard to fully remove will be put on the window of their car. My roommate had many problems with getting assigned a garage spot and then someone else parked there, instead of ticketing that person they just changed the parking spot. The office staff likes to pick and choose what rules they enforce and to whom they enforce them upon. Theres also many convenient side doors you can leave the building from, but you cant get back in them. Generally, I cant hear much from the neighbors next to me, but the floors must be thinner than the walls because i can hear everything from the person above me. Oh, also, the fire alarms for buildings A and B are connected so if one goes off, they both do. We have had to evacuate for no apparent reason at least 6 times since i moved in almost a year ago.

There are plenty of low-income apartment complexes available that wouldn't even need to try to be better than this place. Start with the obvious: free surface parking is MINIMAL. If you want a guaranteed spot it will cost at least $50 per month. While that isn't terrible by itself, the management seems to believe its a great idea to have residents change how their vehicles are registered with them at least once a year. Your guests must also now check in on a website and log EXACTLY however many hours they are going to be parked. If your friends want to visit they deserve to be punished for having a car. The elevators are slow enough that the stairs are a more time-efficient choice. They are painfully slow. I've never been in an elevator that makes you wonder if its actually moving. The layout of my specific model, as I can't speak for every model, is poorly conceived, cramped, and just plain bad. That was one thing I didn't really notice until I had been living here for a little while but it is a BIG issue to me when I have no real choice in the way I can arrange my rooms due to plugs, receptacles, heating unit placement, window placement, etc. Again, this is for my model, but I also am baffled that there isn't even a small attached storage unit on the deck. Instead the management is looking to make a few extra bucks off of their residents by charging extra for storage units located in the hallways. These are also poorly conceived because the doors open inward so you can't even get use out of the full space, losing roughly 3 square feet of it just so you can actually get into the unit. But enough about the minor problems. In my building alone, since I moved in two and a half years ago, there have been multiple cars broken into, vandalized and even stolen. I was surprised the last time by hearing of this recently just because it had calmed down for a while. But as recently as 2 months ago it happened. In addition to problems with bad residents, the staff here can hit or miss. Sometimes you speak to a worker and they can be very helpful and nice. Another day you come in and someone else is the exact opposite, discourteous and rude and unhelpful. If you have the option to look around, please do so and find another place to rent. I know there are only so many low-income places to choose from, but I urge you to find somewhere else that has a better standard of decency among its residents and staff. And only move here if it is your last and only option.

This place is the worst. Management leaves passive-aggressive notes on your door, staff is incompetent and rude. There's not nearly enough parking, even though they have enough for everyone but charge a ridiculous amount for garage spaces. This is supposed to be affordable for lower income but they treat tenants like they dirt and threaten to evict regularly. And because they treat tenants like dirt, they act accordingly. The place regularly smells like every person in the building is celebrating 420, everyone parks like idiots, they dump unwanted furniture in the halls and in the dumpster area, and generally trash up the place. This place is definitely not worth the reduced rent. Stay away.

The apartment was nice, except for the shoddy work done. There were lumps in the carpet, no padding in some places. The linoleum in the bathroom wasn't properly installed, so there were air pockets in some areas. Staff lost my rent checks a few times, were generally rude, and often lied, making promises they never kept. The worst part about my experience was moving out. The lease clearly indicates that cleaning fees are charged when the apartment is left unclean upon move out. I cleaned my unit thoroughly before leaving, and never wore shoes in the unit in the almost 2 years I lived there. I checked with staff before turning over my keys, and was told that they charge cleaning fees anyways to sanitize the unit for the next tenant--that's a violation of Washington's revised codes because it's not in the lease. I sued Urban Center and won. Then I found out that they'd done this to more than a few residents. These people are unscrupulous.

The apartments are new and close to everything! No, it is not perfect...but there are so many advantages to living here. The apartments are amazing quality, the neighborhood is awesome and me & my pup walk everywhere. The staff is super nice and professional. They jump all over it if you have any questions or complaints. The buildings have elevators which I've never had anywhere else I've lived. The parking sucks ONLY if you don't want to pay $60 a month for your own garage spot. If you wait for free parking it can be tough to find a spot, but I pay because it's worth it knowing I have my own space to come home to everyday. The staff is really good about cleaning all the common areas and it seems like they actually really care which is refreshing to see. Yes, the apartments are right next to the freeway but it's not a bad thing. Especially since the building is quality and everything is new so the windows are modern and you seriously can't hear a thing from inside the apartment. I personally like the freeway-city noise because I can't sleep without white noise, but if you don't then just close your window and problem solved. I would probably rate this place a 4.5 stars, but it's not an option. I wouldn't give it 5 stars because that would be it's "perfect" and nothing and nobody is perfect!

there was a stabbing here last year in my building, the garbage shoot is always somehow broken, the elevator is usually not working ( I live on the 5th floor) grocery is hassle going up a narrow stair way...there's absolutely no parking outside so we have to park near a church and walk with out grocery or whatever we have to the apartment and up the stair way. Can't open the window when its hot because someone is always smoking so the cig buds gets onto our balcony and the smoke surrounds my apartments. The hall way is dirty I don't know from exactly as it looks like someone likes to throw food at my door steps and my neighbors as well. There's loud kids running and laughing upstairs at 10pm when we're trying to get some sleep for work the next day.

The apartment that I live in is pretty new and in good condition. However, parking is a big issue as there is not enough parking spots available.

i have been living here for a year and the prices are good and the apartments are nice, but the location is horrible. there has been way too many break ins. some of the people are very sketchy and there is no parking. it is a good place to live but it does have its ups and down.

I moved in July of this year, and thus far, I haven’t encountered any problems. The staff is friendly, charming, and prompt, and my phone calls rarely go unanswered. My apartment’s layout is unique and super cute. The sound proofing is AMAZING. I live next door to a household made up of children and small, yappy dogs, and I do not hear a single thing the instant I walk through my door. The buildings also all come equipped with trash shoots which is awesome. The only issue I’ve noticed is parking. I was fortune enough to apply and do tax credit paperwork with Urban before they instilled a new parking policy, requiring all tenants to pay quite a bit of money if they want even one parking space, so I’m fortunate enough to have a free one. But the moment my lease comes up I’m not sure if I’ll afford the bill. Otherwise, no complaints from me. Thanks Urban!
