North of Fort Bliss and east of Franklin Mountains State Park, Northeast El Paso is a region of the city that didn’t see much development until the 1950s and 1960s. Today, it’s a diverse suburban community with fantastic convenience to the sprawling state parks to the west, and Downtown El Paso and Fort Bliss to the south.
Houses in Northeast El Paso display the classic characteristics of a tan exterior and tile roof, some with Pueblo-style influence. Apartment communities come laden with features, many with pools. Regardless of your rental situation, you can enjoy all that this border city has to offer by enjoying the views at North Franklin Mountain, or by enjoying the local cuisine in the city center. There’s plenty of highways that serve Northeast El Paso, and I-10 in the west makes a longer trip easy.

Property Ratings at Van Horne Estates Apartments
Please be aware that I have lived here for four years, having moved out by May 2024. During my tenure here, we experienced numerous issues such as pest infestations and water damage, along with dog waste all over the place. The point I am drawing attention to is when we were about to move out, a woman from the office informed us that she would charge us for the stove tops. My wife and I had assumed that we would receive our deductible refund or at least some. Little did I know they charged us over $500, did not deliver the information to us, nor contacted us. I discovered this through a debt collection agency, which resulted in a late fee of $100. Please be cautious when visiting this establishment
Property Manager at Van Horne Estates Apartments, Responded To This Review
Hello, We’d like to apologize for the negative experience you had with us. We’ve taken your feedback and will work hard to implement needed changes at Van Horne Estates Apartments. I’d love to make things right! Please reach out to me at your earliest convenience. At zone10@mrdapartments.com.
I have lived here for 2 years now. When I moved in, the reviews looked good, the apartments looked nice and the owners seemed to really care about their property. Since I have moved in, the washing machines have not been working. This is a problem common among all the hallways. In the 6 halls near my apartment, only one washing machine actually works. All of the others ones will just take your quarters, and forget about them refunding them. Please remove laundry facilities as an amenity, you are lying to new tenants. If you're thinking about moving here, I'd recommend you give it a second thought, I definitely do not recommend this place.
The reviews on this site are too old to represent how it actually is now. As of 2021-2022, it is not a great place. Don’t hope for the pool. The time they decided to open it was in late September. The temperature is already starting to drop and the water was too cold for that time. Wasn’t open all summer. Even when the pool was open they weren’t routinely cleaning the leaves and dead bugs in it. Bugs are a huge problem. They are very aware of it that they have routine pest control coming but even that isn’t enough. You notice it wearing off well before it’s time for them to come back. When they do come, they barely spray it in only a portion of your home. Just recently had an issue with the office because we got our usual notice of when pest control would be coming. My family was home all day, along with a dog who will let you know someone is knocking. Did not get a knock at all that day. Pests are quite a lot this time of year so we tried calling and saying pest control didn’t show up at all for us and they want to tell us that they knocked plenty of times and they couldn’t get in. (They couldn’t get in because there’s a top lock that can only be locked from the inside indicating that someone is home) but no one attempted to get in at all that day. They wanted to fight that on us and tell us that we will need to pay $85 for them to come for that when it was on them for not showing up. Moths cover the stairs area of the buildings, all kinds of big bugs surround the doors and a lot of them get in. Washer and dryer next to my apartment hasn’t worked at all since living here and have brought up the issue multiple times. There was one working washer and dryer in the whole building and even the washing machine is no longer usable. I wash my family’s clothes in my bathtub to get clean clothes! Will it ever be fixed? I wouldn’t count on it at all since it’s been a whole year since letting them know about the first one and that still isn’t working. I made sure to physically go to the office and show them a recording of the terribly loud sounds it made, and to tell them it leaves the clothes soaking wet with soap residue on it, and even though they agreed about it, it’s still not fixed or ever had someone to look at it. Walls are so thin you hear anyone outside and there’s plenty of noisy people on the weekends and drunk drivers being reckless. Don’t know how many times I’ve seen flashing lights in my windows in a single week for rent to be this high
I lived here from Nov17-May18, military then ets'd. Victor is the man in the front office but everyone there is always helpful and best of all answering phones. It's a quiet place due to contracted quiet hours so the many parties everywhere else, don't happen here(at least not for long it seemed). Amazing if you got kids or are a peace and quiet person. At one point in time the blade of the fan for AC snapped off in the wee hours of morning and we had maintence guys in there same day doing awesome work. We still had some noise a week later however and asked about it, maintence came again same day and found out the motor was faulty. Took awhile but still replaced the motor same day and we had quiet again. Drain plug in bath stopped closing and it was fixed same day complaint was logged. Pool is small, but clean. Post man is awesome at leaving messages on your door when you have a package at the front office, which is kept in a secured room only the office folk can get into. We moved out due to El Paso was not our forever home but I would definately love to live here for years. They take automatically 55$ from your deposit to clean the carpets (reasonable in my mind) but since I couldnt find the stove drip pans to replace the cost was 92$. Called Victor and he said that is designated by the corporate office, not them. Then he asked how we are doing in our new city and wished us well. Told you, Victor is the man.
The van horne estate apartments are a great place to live. The staff are attentive and answer every question/concern you may have. The one staff member that has always helped me and that I trust & feel more comfortable with is Victor. He answers all my questions and he's always so cheerful whenever any of the residents comes into the office and he's working. He's always eager to help and always acknowledges's & prioritizes every concern. I enjoy living here and I feel like it's a safe place for my little family. I also love how the grounds are kept clean and when maintenance (which is a rarity) is needed they always are on top of things. The Apartments are so spacious and luxurious & won't break the bank. I definitely recommend them! 100/10 on the scale to me.
Loved living here! the staff is great and very helpful. The apartments are huge! They regularly spay for bugs and the apartment has a lot of natural light with a balcony. So sad to be leaving this place.
Since I've moved here, I enjoyed the atmosphere of this large complex. I live in a 2 bedroom, 1 bath apartment and it's great space. Great walks and love the idea of outdoor workout equipments. Why go to the gym when you have those...for FREE?! Maintenance personnel are awesome! It's also in a nice secluded area... away from traffic noises and all the craziness of El Paso! Van Horne is a great place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone.
I have living in the van Horne estates apartments and I absolutely love it. It has it all for great comfort n living conditions for any family.
