Wildewood is one of Columbia’s most sought after neighborhoods. This wooded locale is best known for housing several golf courses and the Sesquicentennial State Park, which offers kayaking, trails, and a dog park. With an award-winning school district and plenty of restaurants and stores nearby, Wildewood is a great option for families, although anyone can enjoy this Southern neighborhood. Wildwood is also near the Sandhill Research and Education Center, so it's a great option for people who want to be close to campus. Residents have access to U.S. Route 1 and Interstate 20 and 77 so they can travel throughout the metro area with ease. Great for commuters seeking a pastoral escape, Wildewood is 14 miles northwest of Downtown Columbia.

Property Ratings at Vantage at Wildewood
this is the worst experience i have ever lived at….if it wasn’t in the location i need i would’ve moved. gats do not work and never work. remote useless, fob key useless, even the gate code doesn’t work…and when you ask questions you’re being difficult no i’m upset i’m not getting what i pay for.
This apartment is very unorganized and awful to live in. The leasing office gives you answers just to get you out of the office, and they only tend to favor the remodeled apartments. The West Shore organization is difficult to contact to discuss concerns. While living here, my refrigerator broke for two weeks with no accommodations. Our air conditioning was broken for two months with no accommodations made until we constantly went to the office. Additionally, we had a leak in our kitchen. We attempted to email and contact the regional property manager, but she has not responded to our last five emails. The leasing staff does not know how to handle situations and fails to provide updates.
Went without AC for 6 weeks and counting. Had to go to the office 20 times to remind them that my AC is out despite having multiple maintenance request active. Would not recommend anyone that values quality of life.
Where to start... We have appliances not working and other issues in the apartment since moving in that haven't even been looked at since the day we moved in, regardless of all the work orders, office visits and emails sent. Gates have been broken and wide open for in/out traffic as long as we have been here...so much for the gated community. There is always trash everywhere in the outdoor common area by the children playground and the grill, of course, does not work. The online "residents section" brings you to a portal where you actually cannot put a work orders in nor pay. You have to go in-person everytime or call and nothing gets done anyway. As other reviewers mentioned, they seem to take advantage of people moving in from out of town, securing an apartment without visiting first. I highly DO NOT recommend this place. There are better apartment complexes in the area and even better houses for rent which would cost the same or less.
The apartment itself is okay. The bedrooms are good size and have nice walk-in closets. Decent for one person or couple. Satisfactory parking. Unfortunately, things are not taken care of in a timely or sufficient manner around the complex. The gate system only worked for a couple weeks in the past year. The gym has 2 (broken) treadmills. Some neighbors leave gross trash out for weeks without it being picked up (whether that is the fault of the resident or the valet trash service is unclear, but still gross and invites bugs). Maintenance requests take months to fulfill, if ever. The apartment paint job upon moving it was very poor (used rollers on baseboards and trim work was sloppy). If you are satisfied on move-in and never need anything done and have conscientious neighbors, then you might be okay.
This property used to be a great place to live. However, the last year has brought about some changes. It is currently owned/managed by West Shore, they did not introduce themselves or make their presence known until after they took over. Since then the staff they've brought in has been abysmal to say the least. The Property Manager is awful, she's dismissive and offers minimal assistance/and/or follow up. Maintenance takes forever to fix your work orders and when they do come prepare for them not finish the requested service and mark your work order as "complete". The place is filthy, trash is everywhere, dog waste areas often overflow, the gate does not work. I've got a little more time on my lease and I'll be done with this place.
This is by far the worst apartment I have ever lived in. Sure it was “renovated” but the renovations consisted of spray painting over dirt and mold. Job done so sloppy it is hard to find words to describe it. Dirt and dust bunnies painted over on baseboards and doors… windows do not open.. bathtub painted over (!) dirt and mold with paint coming off right at the beginning after we washed the bathtub then and mold started coming out… appliances breaking constantly.. fire extinguisher was empty and despite us telling the management about it, it was never refilled… maintenance either doesn’t happen or if they do come to your apartment it’s unannounced and they go in with their shoes on (no shoe covers), we have a crawling baby and they walked all over our baby floor mat… gate at the entrance is broken several times a month and people that live/visit here constantly tailgate behind you so I’m not even sure what is the point of having a gate… out of 6 months of us living here rent was posted correctly only once. Management changed recently and there is NO DIFFERENCE. It is just a horrible place…!
I would not recommend this apartment due to the price. Based on the city and location I do not believe the complex has reasonable unit prices, specifically for the 1/1 units.
I like the area and the apartments are good size. They are a little bit pricy and I would prefer maintenance be a little more timely at fixing things.
It lives up to all of my expectations and more
This is simply an oustanding rental property.
I've already recommended to 3 or 4 friends and I haven't even moved in yet!
Friendly accommodating people with amazing product in a beautiful neighborhood. Nothing not to like.
I am concerned about the amount of 'trash' that piles up at compactor site and the need for additional trash collection bins. It is going to be very problematic as the weather gets warmer.
It' a nice peaceful neighborhood
Office staff never answers the phone or responds to emails and everything is blamed on covid. I have been here almost a month and wish I never signed that lease. Maintenance is non-existent and when questioned it’s always to please be patient with them as they only have one maintenance man. Yet everyday I am seeing contractors doing renovations on vacant units and office staff doing tours for future residents. Why on earth would you still be moving people in when you can’t maintain and keep satisfied the current ones you have?! Money of course. Most new units do not have a washer and dryer and there is a laundry room in the leasing office but it is poorly kept. It consist of 4 small washers and dryers and one of the dryers is out of order. Imagine that. Pay the extra money if you can and move somewhere nicer.

Very clean, professional staff, located in a great area for shopping, parks, walking trails, luxurious, spacious apartments with a beautiful and pleasant landscape, playground, and a gazebo for enjoying social gatherings with family and friends.

They don't care about the residents. The place is run down and the office staff is rude and won't respond to you.

We’re truly sorry that your time in our community left more to be desired. I called today for assistance and the Assistant Manager "Angela" did not have any patience when speaking on the phone. She talks over you, she talks FAST, she also provided the wrong information after trying to correct me on something that I never asked. I literally had to stop talking and wait on her to finish so I could speak. My friend has been staying out here for a year and she really likes it. She is in the process of renewing BUT no one is being patient with her when she asks questions to get clarification on her renewal letter. A staff member also told my friend that she doesn't know what the renewal rate will be "until the charges post on the first" . I am an Assistant Property Manager now and I would never RUSH a current resident that is trying to renew.....
The duties of a property manager include but are not limited to attracting new residents and retaining current residents by treating all tenants with the highest level of concern by providing the maximum level of quality and support. The current property manager, Kevin, fails miserably at these basic customer service tasks. When approached with any issues or concerns he is completely evasive and a bit of a smart aleck. If you are looking to move somewhere where you feel valued as a tenant and where your hard earned money that you pay for rent is acknowledged and appreciated by the company you hand it over to, I would not recommend moving to Vantage at Wildewood. I hope this review is helpful to anyone who is interested in moving here or any of the current residents that are experiencing the same frustrations. I sure wish I would have taken heed and paid more attention to the reviews written about the management.
Hello Possible Resident, I hope that all is well. I am writing this review in hopes that it would provide you with some insight on Vantage at Wildewood apartment homes before you possible make a decision that you would possibly regret for the next 12 months. I am deeply concerned with the management of this living community and the management in charge of managing the management in charge of the community as a whole. The current Office Manager, Kevin, could care less about residents once a lease has been signed and regretfully neither will those who are in charge on a corporate level for ensuring that the residents at Vantage at Wildewood are happy and taken care of as they should. To begin, communication is a major issue at Vantage at Wildewood Apartment homes. The phone is never answered. Voicemails are never responded back to- at all, and emails are pointless as they are ignored as well. No matter the day or time of your call or email you will consistently find that no-one is there to answer your call, respond to your voicemail nor your email- even days/weeks later. The motto at Vantage at Wildewood Apartment Homes seems to be get you to sign a lease and forget about you, which is not hard to do as the community is aesthetically pleasing...but BE AWARE, as the old cliche goes, "everything that glitters ain't gold". Beyond the looks of the apartment homes you will quickly learn that beneath the surface is: -Poor Management -Terrible Communication between residents and Managment -Neglected Maintenance Issues -Dangerous Living Environment -Drug Trafficking -Fighting and Physical Acts of Violence outside of your door step -Wild and Unattended Animals running around off leashes on the property -Overflowing Trash Bins I strongly urge you to seek out current residents of the Vantage at Wildewood community prior to you making a decision that you may regret for the next 12 months. Current Vantage at Wildewood resident, Anthony Bluford
Just moved into these lovely apartments & I must say I am impressed. The rent includes basic cable, water, & sewer plus all the amenities. These apartments are gated, & you must have a key to enter ! (Which is lovely, & gives you the security you want / need). Thus far the only cons I have are there are a few cheaply renovated parts in the house, & the hot water in the master bathroom gets cooled after 5 minutes. As far as the apartments, depending on your floor plan the bedrooms are separated ( which is perfect for when you have guest), nice open concept, the windows give you a lot of sunlight during the day, & the sun room adds a lot of space too the apartments, great for a office, game room, etc. This is a beautiful place to live, quiet, minutes away from post & a great variety of food choices down the street.

Dear Valued Resident, We are so happy your time is off to a great start and you are loving your new apartment! Please let us know which apartment you are in so we can get those maintenance concerns addressed for you. Sincerely,Kevin Huff. Community Manager
Prior to the new management, I would have given Viera Wildewood five stars easily. A few months ago, all residents weren't billed for water for three months which in turn brought on a series of payment arrangements to settle the bill. Now residents have been issued "late fee" notices because the billing system forgot to include pest control for the month. I was basically told by someone in management to not rely on the printed bill and come in the office to confirm the balance. The gated community allure that is used to attract tenants probably doesn't work anymore because there was a shooting on the property in January. From time to time, I'll see a Richland County squad car but that doesn't make me feel as safe as I did in the past. You can never reach the corporate office to speak with someone (it's designed that way to keep all issues at management level). As I work towards home ownership, I'm tempted to break my lease and go elsewhere.
Management changed 3 times since I moved in a year ago. We used to have water, sewer, trash and cable included in our rent but after our newest management came, we were given a 60 day notice that we are to pay our own water and sewer. The meters are set per building and management divides the bill for the building by the number of Apts and tenants- so you don't know what you really used. There's a damaged garage by the garbage area that has been wrecked for a few months now... pretty ugly to look at when there's always a mountain of garbage beside it. Maintenance is fast to respond to any issues in the apartments and Ms. Wanda in our leasing office is extremely nice and helpful. Quiet neighborhood; gated community. Pool area looks good on the website but in person the grill area is disgusting and the bathrooms are never cleaned. Poolside Wifi never works. Over in the car wash area, the water works but the vacuum machine has been broken since before I moved in. The laundromat on site is convenient for people with no washer or dryers- you can wash small loads, while you workout across the hall in the fitness center which is nicely updated. We need more parking spaces! The apartments themselves are nice but the paint they use is horrible, it stains very easily and scuff marks are made just by brushing against it. Overall, the Viera has alot of upgrading to do especially for the amount of $800 a month in rent.
