Property Ratings at Vantage Pointe West
I have had issues since I first moved in. I moved intoban apartment that had not been cleaned. Now roaches have started traveling into my apartment. Some of the office staff aren't very helpful and professional. Tgey don't return calls timely in regards to maintenance. My friend warned me not to move here when she was dealing with a mice problem. Now I'm warning you. I should've listened to her to save myself the headache!!!
This complex has zero safety and nobody cares even the packages they do not rêve them at the office to keep them safe and they has zero tolerance they are acting like they are perfect when they do not even consider the residents. The only think they care about is money they do not clean very often the complex but if you miss one day of rent because you forgot they charge 50 dollars if you forget trash for 5 minutes they charge you so you should consider people more. The management is very bad specially now with the new manager very bad and not caring at all. We are just a paycheck for him. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I left it with no regrets.

Hi, we are disappointed to hear that you did not have a more positive experience with us at Vantage Pointe West Apartments. Thanks for bringing this matter to our attention. We would like to get more details about this; please reach out to us at your earliest convenience at vpwest@plkcommunities.com.
Where the roaches rule! Seriously, the place gets sprayed every two weeks with at least three different companies and it does nothing. The neighbors leave trash in the halls/ stairwell, or their trash bags leak boxes all the way to the overflowing trash bins. The roaches just come out of the wall sockets. Maintenence doesn't care. Roof leaks any time it rains. Had to replace the dishwasher, but they left exposed live wires under the sink and I got shocked trying to grab cleaning supplies. Replaced loose bathtub tiles without fixing the rotted walls. Front door handles are always broken. Fire doors to each floor have broken hinges that are jammed shut making ingress/egress difficult when the door opens 1/3 the way or the arm is not even connected so the 1/2 hinge bashes into the wall. One maintenance truck sits on a broken axle and the other is loaded with old tires with the property owner name from 10yrs ago label all over it. Don't let the gate house fool you. It's full of junk and is never occupied. No security company patrols the area. Vehicles are parked in handicap unloading zones, on the grassy medians, or just in the middle of drive path or edge of the parking lot for weeks on end. They'll charge you $20-30 a month to park under a rotting shelter that's barely holding together. Front doors to buildings are not locked or have handles broken in half. Drivers will fly over the speed bumps at 30-40mph (in a 10mph zone) and not stop at stop signs. Lights in the parking lot work about half the time. Added monthly charges: about $35 for water, average $60 for electricity for cooling in the 80F upper floors since the heat stays on till May, $25 per pet +$200 down payment at signing, $20 to park, $20 for a gym locker for storage Your walls will be paper thin, with bedroom wall shared with neighbors living room. You'll be up all night too the emergency vehicles. If you're 2nd or 3rd shift, forget it. The water lines get turned off for maintenance every few weeks for 4hrs at a time. Plus you've got pest control coming just as often to spray. Then there's the seasonal parade of landlords to make sure you are neat, tidy, smoke alarm has a battery in it, &you don't enjoy stringed lights on your porch outside of the few holiday weeks. No summer fun whatsoever. The pool is tiny and over chlorinated/salted. Moving here was the most regrettable decision I've had. They got rid of weekend hours and are only open 10-6.
My boyfriend and I struggled to find an apartment that would except us since we were young and it was our first apartment, when we were about to give up, Candy was a LIFE SAVER!! They were willing to accept our application!!! And we moved in a couple months later!!! We have been here for almost a year now and have LOVED our experience!! The office ladies are so kind to us!! Also not sure what everyone is talking about with roaches we have had or even seen any, and they send people every 6 months to spray just to be safe!!! Not to mention THEY HAVE A POOL!!! They keep the pool clean which is awesome since we love swimming!! We definitely plan on renewing our lease, and definitely encourage others to move here, this place really is amazing and the prices are so much better then anywhere else around for the amount of space you get, with a walk in closet!!! I really hope out of all the bad comments you read this good one and give this place a chance because it will definitely be worth it, they truly are amazing here and the rooms are beautiful, and like I said THEY HAVE A POOL!!!
I have lived here since 2015 in one bdrm and then moved in 2018 to a two bedroom. (4/15/2022) I have asked about moving into a 3 bedroom and they said I have to go on a waiting list why and I already live at the property. Also I asked for a new stove and refrigerator and was denied because I haven’t lived in my unit for 5yrs. Roaches are a problem. People let dogs just poop everywhere and not in design area can’t enjoy fresh air smelling that. Still haven received new windows, some things are just pushed off to the side as if you didn’t make a complaint. But wanna raise rent 50 a year.
If i could rate 0/5 stars i would. I have lived here since May 2021, my first 3 days here I found roaches in every part of the unit, it took 2 weeks to get pest control to my unit. By the end of my first week in the unit the people below me had their apartment shot into. Since then I hear near weekly occurrences of gun violence in the building/on the property. When i raise concerns to the property managers they act as if they had no idea this was happening. Throughout my time in this community I have had to deal with CONSTANT roach concerns, i have not had a single week in which i did not see a roach in my apartment even though I mop and clean near daily. I have also had management come into my unit with pest control and tell me I AM the one who brought the roaches over a single glass in the sink. in October of 2021 the ceiling in the hallway began leaking water heavily, it took them a week to come and stop the leak but the ceiling had already collapsed by that time. As of 2/2022 the hole is still there. In Jan 2022 I witnessed first hand the boiler room door open in my building where I saw trash up to the ceiling, wood, drywall, etc which leads me to believe THAT is where the roaches come from in this building. As of Feb 2022, i have had a hole in my hallway ceiling due to a water leak. Was told when i called no one was coming to help me until Monday(Office was closed that day.) Then suddenly maintenance showed up to my unit. I was then told by maintenance they'd come back Monday to patch the issue(again, office was to be closed.), when i asked about the office being closed i was told "oh...no it'll be Tuesday). Naturally, no one came, and when i called that THURSDAY i was told theyd come the next day, no one showed. As of the day this review was made 2/19/22, no one has come to fix the issue. If you have any other choice in your living situation, DO NOT COME HERE. posted here on 3/13/22 because my review on google was hidden. i still have roaches despite everything i have tried to do
Notice all the good reviews were left YEARS ago. We haven't even lived here for 4 months and we are going to break the lease. What everyone said about the roaches, is true. We are clean people. We have no animals, we clean our apartment regularly. It's still an issue. I have had NUMEROUS safety concerns that they still haven't addressed. Just the other day we had someone try to light the building on fire. The chief fire inspector said there are numerous cases of Arson reported in the apartment complex. They have no smoke alarms or sprinkler systems in the hallways to warn people about fires. Forget about having your packages sent to the building. We had one of our opened and contents stolen out of it. All the office said, was to have packages sent to the office instead. WHY do I have to have that done when I am paying a good amount to live here. I don't know about all of you, but I work hard to support my family and myself. To be honest, I feel like safety is the last thing on their mind. As long as people turn in there rent check, They don't care what happens to anyone after that. On top of all of that, they say "security" is on site. That is so LAUGHABLE. He sits atthe front entrance. He doesn't even look up when you are driving by. They sit him there so they can put on their website that its a secure property. There is almost no parking for people who live there because they don't monitor the parking passes that are assigned. I see people parking all the time that have no pass in there window. Leave NO SPACE at all for anyone else who ACTUALLY pay to live there to park. I am just so disappointed in lack of care for the safety on myself and the people I love most. You can believe I am never moving into another PLK property if this is how they treat the people paying to keep them in business. It's fine for them because they only work there. They don't live there like we do. So they don't care what happens to us at the end of the day. I will not stick around to find out what happens when whoever is starting those fires is actually successful. Maybe this review will help others to see the truth about the way Vantage Pointe West runs things. I am telling you, Do not move here for the safety of your family.
Just go into the hallways , that’s all I have to say. Horrible. Can’t believe people are living that way.
I have been living here 3 years and we had small issues come up, nothing major. But 3 weeks ago, our apartment flooded and they have not done any work to fix the issue. I talked to a lady in the office and she said she would let the manager know. Then after a week, I called and she said she would have someone there the next day. Then after a few more days, i went to the office and the lady at the desk had a bad attitude before I event said anything. I asked to speak to the manager and she goes to the back and I hear the manager yelling something. So the lady comes back with an even worse attitude and says they’ll clean and sanitize the carpet even though I’m sure there’s mold underneath. So I will be getting a mold inspection done and have them check the ceiling, the carpet, and the walls since none of it has been repaired. And! I was leaving for work the other day and the banister was messed up and I sliced my thumb open. The fixed that the same day but my apartment still has not been tended to.

This place is a joke. I will admit that our personal apartment itself is not bad, but the complex as a whole is awful. The hallways of the building are disgusting. Trash everywhere, inside and outside. The elevator works maybe 50% of the time....and we live on the 5th floor! When we call with requests to have the elevator looked at, we never get a response from the office. Our water is shut off almost monthly. They say it will be for only a few hours, but it ends up going long into dinner time. Our toilet broke recently and when we called emergency maintenance they reported that it was “not an emergency” so we were without a working toilet for the weekend. The washers and dryers are disgusting. Only 3 out of the 5 washers work and it’s really just hit or miss if you’ll find a dryer that works. Don’t even think about trying to take a shower in the evening...the water will be cold. Oh and we have had no hot water for going on 12 hours now....no morning showers either I guess. No communication from the office about the hot water issue. They don’t open until 10 anyway...they’re probably still sleeping.

They say it has a balcony but u have to be on the bottom floor to have one. They knocked them down and put Gates on our doors. We don't have a patio or balcony. They lie bout everything. it takes them forever to Fox stuff, the maintenance people are all quiting, there is a big drug problem here. U can watch people selling and smoking dope. They said they can't do nothing bout it. The pool is so small it was bigger before the new owners came in. They don't watch who parks in the car ports even it u pay for it. U can never get a hold of the owners cause there always on vacation. When we first moved in here we was told of 2 vehicles per room but my neighbor has bout 5 or 10 and I told the office but I have to prove they have that many cars. It's not right I can never get a parking spot. It's horrible here. They only care bout the money u give them. Don't ever ever move here. Wrost place ever. They lie bout putting requests in. I ask for then to fix my stove and refrigerator but they still haven't. My sink has been leaking and they still haven't Fix it. Always having the water shut off and having water pressure problems. The list goes on!!
I live here now but they gave me 30 days to vacate the premises FOR NO REASON they said the owner wants possession of their unit back cause I am on a month to month lease I always pay my rent early and I am a good tenent but this is legal if you on month to month but they raised my rent knowing that they wanted they apt. Back i would not recommend this complex to my WORSE ENEMY and they don't fix stuff right or on time the roof been messed up for at least 6 of the years I have been here mold in my extra room and all they do is scrape it and paint over it so the problem still continues I always wonder why I am the only one that has been in my building for a long time this is a revolving door they are MESSY DOWN THERE if you thinking about moving there think TWICE PLEASE AND DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX PLEASE
Was at this property for over 2 years, never late on rent, complied with their requests and access to apartment, received a 30 day notice without reason given, was willing to sign another lease or move to another property but they were short and rude and unwilling to help. Called PLK corporate and they were fake and phony. Water turned off for hours every other week, several car break-ins on the property, bat in my apartment got very little assistance from office/maintenance. Took them forever to fix my heating issue this past winter. Maybe notice was a blessing in disguise. They are quick to serve a 30 day notice but not quick to give you your security deposit back and/or send some kind of invoice within 30 days. Called several times, left several messages with Penny and Dotty, it wasn't until I went to the office to get answers. Shady is all i can say. Rent at your own risk.
The apartments are appealing for the price and updates, but once you get here you will be disappointed! First off there is a huge roach problem. I have lived in 2 buildings throughout my 1 year lease. Reason being the sinks constantly back up with dirty black water and flood, so I had to move into a different unit. I have been seeing roaches every day and notified management. There are multiple leaks in the units, and management never fixes the problem until you threaten them. The tenant across the hall from me showed me her unit and it had leaks EVERY WHERE. Mold and cracks on the walls. I also had mold in my apartment. VPW doesn't want to spend the money to fix the serious issues, they just want to fix it as cheap and fast as possible. They plunge the sinks (which doesn't do anything), the sinks CONSTANTLY BACK UP. Maintenance doesn't do a very good job. They replaced the entire AC system after it broke 3 times and left the walls with huge holes cut out and never came back to fix them. Also, don't even bother paying for a covered parking port. They don't tow or even monitor it.... Management cares more about money (especially the property owner). GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING.
I have lived here for 2 years and for the past year I have had nothing but trouble from the apartment management and employees. 1) The security guards do not actually check in with people as they drive in. They wave everyone in regardless of if they live there or not. 2) I have never seen the security guards do rounds. They are advertising that they have security staff, but they are spotty in doing their job. 3) The work out facility has very few pieces of equipment that actually work. I have asked them to get maintenance in to look at the equipment, but nothing has come out of it. Excuse after excuse as to why things don't work. 4) The office staff is rude and sub-par. I have called for things such as maintenance requests and asking for the management to get in contact with me. After not hearing anything, I would call and ask for the status of my request to find that the person has not put in the request at all. 5) If you want to get a hold of management about a question or problem, good luck. It took weeks for them to get in contact with us about a simple question. Instead of picking up the phone and calling us, they stuck a letter in our door. Beyond infuriating. 6) Paid Heat is advertised, but that depends on the building you live in. Make sure to check that because they won't mention until you go to sign the lease. 7) The water quality has been bad since day one of living in these apartments. The maintenance people claim there is nothing that they can do about it, although new pipes or even a built in filter could fix the problem. I have made these points to the office staff before, but nothing has come of them. It seems like they care more about making money, than making their residents feel listened to. They know they are one of the cheapest apartments around and now we know why. The one advantage of living here is that they recently updated the pool, play ground, and basketball facilities.
I've been living here for a year and a half and when I moved in, the new management company had just taken over. They have made so many empty promises about improvements but have failed to deliver on them. The pool, which was sold to us as something completely different than it ended up being, got put in a year later, as well as the playground almost 18 months later. Sure, they made a huge leasing office to accommodate all their staff and such, but that's money that could be put to better use. Their maintenance staff is a joke and my children could do a better job at repairs than they could. Instead of fixing problems and making things livable, they try to cover things up and just "get by" with the minimum. Mold and excess moisture is a huge issues. Proper maintenance and upkeep would help to cut this down, but again, this isn't being done. My family and I have been excessively ill since moving into these apartments, and I can only attribute that to the poor upkeep and the manner at which things are left undone. The website states that this complex is gated...it is not. There is a private security company that makes rounds in the off hours, but sometimes they are very slow to respond to issues at hand. The hallways and elevators are disgusting and always have trash in them and wreak of filth. Since I've been there, they have changed the filters in my A/C/furnace TWICE. This should be done quarterly, and it is in the lease that they are obligated and will be responsible for that upkeep, and they still have yet to do that. I have paid for and replaced on my own filters. Corners are cut in every room it seems. Windows are old and drafty, so be prepared for an expensive utility bill. Not all the apartments include heat, so "buyer beware" and make sure the one move into does. We've seen our share of roaches and it's just nasty. They allow pets, but they aren't too careful on their screening process as there is a weight limit which doesn't seem to be followed. There is no consistency with mail/package delivery. Sometimes they come to the door, sometimes they leave it at the office, sometimes they don't inform you when items are dropped off. Not only that, we've had packages "disappear" with no trace were they went, even though we've been informed they were delivered. The process is very unsettling. Overall, it's been a very frustrating 18 months, and we are moving out as soon as our house is ready.
I like the changes they are trying to bring to this complex but not happy about the price increase. I want to see what everything if going to look like once their done maybe 8t will change the environment
Lovely place! The leasing staff are very nice and always willing/eager to help. My apartment is very spacious for a 1 br. I love there proximity to everything (plaza mall, Walmart and Kroger, bars, great school for young families, as well as downtown night life for the college crowd ). Its very secure with the trained off duty police officers. While under construction it's still a beautiful place and can't wait to see what they have in store for the new tenants!
THE APARTMENTS HAVE ON SIGHT SECURITY, THERE IS A LOT OF CONSTRUCTION GOING ON. THE GROUNDS ARE WELL MAINTAINED.THERE IS A POOL, CLUB HOUSE AND BASKETBALL AREA.THE POOL AND CLUB HOUSE IS UNDER RENOVATION. THE APARTMENTS ARE SPACIOUS BUT THE WALLS ARE THIN, FROM THE OUTER HALL AREA, YOU CAN HEAR WHATS GOING ON IN OTHER APARTMENTS. HOPEFULLY, AFTER THE CONSTRUCTION IS OVER, IT MIGHT BE A NICE PLACE TO LIVE.
I LIKE THE LAYOUTS I LOOKED AT WILL BE COMING TO SEE THEM IN PERSON!! WESTSIDE BOUND!!
They apartment here are beautiful they landloard said she likes to have them like she would like if she was living here her self and she is a awesome person we are very happy here I would love to win it would help me so much
I live here and I do t recommend it. I've been seei g roaches since I've moved in. At least 1-2 a day. I've had an exterminator come every two weeks to spray and he says they aren't coming from m that they are coming from somewhere else in the building. I keep a spotless house. Trash is taken out daily. I sweep after each meal, mop each night and vacuum my floors daily. I should not be dealing with this. I have three small children one being on a feeding tube. I've killed 4-5 today and it's still morning. Don't move here
To be honest, I think they overpriced for there apts. They claim they going to remodel the whole kitchen, new carpet. I didn't happen late fee is ridiculous
I live in here in Vantage point off of Queen City Ave. I've been here for 3 years. It was kind of old fashion. Since new management took over there's been alot of new updated done here. They installed new windows and balcony doors for everyone. They also shut down the pool this summer because they're renovating the pool house. They fixed the hallways, replaced the carpets and painted the hallways lighter coloring.
Our apartment recently came under new management. They have had a lot of improvements and changes that have benefited us greatly, ie installing new windows and sliding glass, improved security, painted the buildings etc. In addition, maintenance comes out quickly when we have problems. Coming from dorms, it's nice to live in an apt complex you're proud of and enjoy goinf home to at night.
I like being on ground level. Neighbors are nice, friendly, quite. Apartments are clean.
