Known for rugged hills and rolling countryside mixed with developed areas called boroughs, the southern portion of Allegheny County remains a beautiful compliment to nearby city life in Pittsburgh. Located about 14 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, it takes about an hour to reach the city's center. One of Pennsylvania’s largest areas, South Allegheny consists of several towns and suburbs set in an idyllic landscape. Great destinations include historic Kennywood Park, which first opened in 1899 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Property Ratings at Ventana Hills
Sorry we JUST moved in and there’s mice squeaking in the walls EVERY DAY. ALL DAY. The people at the office are completely useless and just ignore every request you give them. Other than there being extremely annoying mice in the walls, the trash compactor is always broke and trash just piles up on the ground like it’s a dump site. Oh and the gates been broken for about 6 years. Don’t let them lie to you about it getting “fixed”. They suck you in and then just let you lay in the garbage that is this complex. I’m looking into every option to reach out to the highest ups I can.

Overall the complex, staff and Maintenace is great! I have been here for years and can speak about everything. The complex is great, great place to walk, nice pool, places for the dogs to play.. Staff has been in and out, but I have never had a problem and really like the current staff. Maintenace has been fantastic for me, do great work in a timely manor. I did see a review that the upstairs of the Townhomes are warmer and that is correct but honestly not a big deal and i like to sleep cold. All bedrooms have ceiling fans in them and do a great job.

I am currently in a townhome and the second floor is so HOT. I've complained multiple times and finally they said they'd put in for a window unit. So then my next question was..who's paying the additional money for the electric bill! I've had other maintenance problems as well that have been ignored. One positive, I like the community but that's not enough to have me stay.

Pros: Location and convenience to everything in Robinson. Great place to walk around and have pets. Feels like home, not just rent boxes. Pricing is competitive (for the area). Cons (sadly, so many): Grossly incompetent lease office (high turnover, hostility between lease staff and overworked and understaffed maintenance crew). Once you sign on, you are rent and nothing more. Poor attitude in the lease office. Corporate does not respond if you need them. Security has been a problem. Years to fix the exit/entrance gate. Overgrown trees blocking light fixtures (those that work) making it very dark on the property at night. Raccoon and rodent problem. You can hear mice in the apartment walls. Sub-par apartment fixtures (carpet, appliances). You will put in many service tickets. You will sadly have to follow up on them often to get things done. I have lived at this property a total of 9 years. Pricing and location were what kept me there. It really could be a better place, but the staff just treats residents with a disregard and will up the rent each year for aging units that require updating and better upkeep. As slanted as this review is, unfortunately it is the reality of this property. I have worked in sales and property management companies before and seen how things (not perfect) could be and should be here.

We welcome feedback from long-term residents like you as it helps us improve, and we are glad you have enjoyed our great location and your comfortable home. We are surprised by some of your comments as we work hard to be available to our residents and provide friendly, helpful service at all times. We partner with reputable vendors to maintain the landscaping and provide pest control, and our office team is customer-oriented. We would greatly welcome a chance to connect with you to better understand your experience and do all we can to help. Please email us at managers@ventanahills.net at your soonest convenience.
You have to pay for everything: trash removal, water, sewer, gas, electricity. Add from $300/month. Trash removal is irregular. Insects on the floor and near fireplace. Management doesn't care about people living there, no smile, no "Hello". Plastic yellow bath. Are you serious "Luxury"? The best thing is the location! Would be fair to include most utilities in final price, so people know what the pay.
We stayed in Ventana hills apartments from May of 2016 through Mid August 2017. The one serious complaint we have is regarding how they handled our departure. We were on month to month after our first year regular contract as we were looking to move into a house or get out of state. We dropped the key late afternoon on August 11, 2017 making our official departure date to be August 12. Ventana Hills made us pay for electricity, gas and even water for the entire month of August when there should have been no utility usage. I requested usage data from the billing company for water and it showed usage for the period we weren't there. So was the case with electricity per DLC bill emailed to me by Ventana Hills and with Columbia Gas bill charge indicated on email from Ventana Hills. So they went into the apartment, did their cleaning works with utility billing under me and showed their cheapness - nickeling and diming us !!! 44kWH of electricity from Aug 14 - 27: $13.52 (DLC utility bill) 26CuFt of water from August 12 - 30 (Nationwide Energy Partners usage bill) Gas bill for August 12 - 28: $21.29 (Billing info provided by Ventana Hills via email) When I inquired about all this they cited to sections #8, #38, #43 in the lease - Wow ! It was okay for them to use utilities under my name and have the guts to charge me for it !!! I didn't receive the check for my security deposit within the time frame as was required per their own lease agreement document per my surrendering date being August 12. But that is ok right? They can do whatever !! The community, at the hilltop, was nice and quiet. We especially enjoyed easy access to the Montour Trail and highways I79 and I376. The apartment was advertised as luxury living, however, with the vinyl coated counters and cheap appliances we never got that feel !! We were very impressed with their handling of maintenance issues - most of the times we got next day service except for the one instance where kitchen area carpet was needed to be replaced due to water damage which was understandable. Our suggestion is be very careful with how and when you want to hand over the keys !!!
After owning our own home for many years in another area in PA, we decided to sell and move to Pittsburgh. My new job was starting quickly, so this didn't allow much time to find a place. We looked at 4 different locations. When we looked at Ventana Hills, we had that feeling of home! Without a doubt, we chose Ventana. Super well kept, clean, yard and landscape maintenance great!! Any issues we've had have been resolved on the same day! They have an answering service for after hours problems and actually have an on call staff member come and take care of immediate problems no matter what time of day or night. The office ladies are phenomenal and very organized! Come join us on the hill!
The front office staff can be wonderful except when it comes to major maintenance issues . They promise to fix something then make YOU pay for it when you move out . There are much better complexes , choose those.
I recently retired and moved from California. After looking around the area for a place to live, I found Ventana Hills. What a smart decision. I love living here, so many things to like. I love the security and well maintained grounds. I especially love the very professional and courteous staff. Whenever I request maintenance assistance, it's taken care of immediately. I really like that! Check it out, I think you'll like it too. - DonD
We had a leak in our heating coil in our HVAC unit that damaged the carpet. They didnt replace the wet insulation inside the HVAC unit and only fan dryed the carpet. Left a 4' slash in the carpet where they located a fan for drying. Also the toilet above our apartment had a leak on the discharge side. They air dryed the carpet and painted over the stained ceiling. I made the point that the leak was from the waste side of the toilet, but they did not replace the damaged ceiling or the floor. We moved out 2 months later and are charging us to replace the carpet, that they promised to replace after the toilet leak. Do NOT move into Apartment 1301 until they confirm the ceiling in the large bedroom has been replaced and you check the insulation inside the HVAC unit. Otherwise its mold laying in wait.
I have been living at Ventana Hills for just a couple of months now and it is just everything you could want in an apartment. The staff is super friendly and the maintenance staff are just amazing. They get everything that needs fixed done in a reasonable amount of time. The location is perfect, Very close to just about everything! Only minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, the mall, airport, restaurants etc. Ventana Hills is the right apartment complex for a young woman like myself and well, free rent sounds even better!
I recently took over the lease for a couple at Ventana Hills (VH). Getting started was a bit of a pain because there was a bit of confusion between the previous tenant and the complex. Communication could have been better from VH. That being said, now that I've moved in (only been there for about a week) I'm loving the new place. The complex looks clean and well maintained. Plenty of amenities-- including a 24-hr gym, a pool, tanning bed, a rentable clubhouse for get-togethers, and the ability to rent apartments for out of town guests. Ventana Hills is close to plenty of shopping, the airport, and it's a short (although often traffic riddled) ride to downtown. I'd give this place a thumbs up!
The amenities at the complex are fantastic. It is like living in a resort. There are a lot of activities for the residents, and they always come and fix everything immediately if there is a problem. The apartments are very spacious and everything is updated. I highly recommend this complex for anyone interested in moving to the Robinson area.
I am enjoying my time at Ventana Hills. I have lived here for 6 months. During the winter I was unsure if I would be staying here. All of my neighbors told me that I would fall in love with the complex in the summer which I did. There is a real sense of community here. A lot of resident gather at the community pool each day and evening. If I don't feel like going out on the weekends, I will go to the pool and hang out with the neighbors. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Anytime I had a concern they have come immediately. The clubhouse is beautiful and they have tons of events for the residents. I go to the free yoga classes and there was a large pool party for the residents with a band, food and prizes. I was also concerned about the steep hills leading into the complex. Pittsburgh winters are brutal and roads tend to be icy. The roads were better maintained in Ventana then the surrounding area. Penn Dott could use some pointers. The only negatives that I have experienced are I have allergies and there is a lot of greenery surrounding the complex. Also, you have to pay water, gas, and electric. I am not used to paying for gas and water when renting.
Nicely designed, relatively new looking apartments in a good location. Complex has many good amenities including a very nice pool area with gas grills, a serviceable gym (2 treadmills, elliptical, bike, free weights), and in-unit washer and driers. Location is good ,being 20 min from downtown, minutes from 376 and 79, and right in the middle or Robinson shopping area. Definite pluses are the views from the exterior apartments, attached access to the Montour Trail, and the maintenance staff is usually very diligent in clearing snow. Apartments are slightly overpriced, but I would still definitely recommend them.
