Property Ratings at Elizabeth Station
I had a HORRIBLE experience living here. They over charge for everything and market “luxury” bc they have granite countertops. The maintenance requests never get finished and then when you move out and they aren’t complete bc they never came back they’ll charge you for it. There is TRASH everywhere. The staff is RUDE. There smoke detectors go off randomly all the time even in the middle of the night and are LOUD. SAVE YOUR MONEY DONT LIVE HERE.
From a current tenant, do not live here. The fire alarms in the building randomly go off at least once every few weeks due to false alarms. It's extremely loud and lasts between 15 to 30 min. In the past 20 days it's gone off 4 times, including once at 3AM. Last night it went off at 10:00 PM and again at 11:00 PM, and we had to leave our apartment and stay somewhere else so we could get some sleep. Interestingly, after the 3AM instance, we asked the office and they said it was a medical emergency, but I asked the fire dept last night and they said it's been constant false alarms. They're as fed up as we are, because the false alarms take up fire department resources. The gates to the parking garage are always broken, and the exterior doors to the complex didn't lock for months when we first moved in. The office said it was due to lightning striking the building. I could maybe see that happening, and the people at the office seemed really apologetic about essentially an act of god causing the issue. But a few months later it happened again, and the garage gates and exterior doors stayed unlocked for another month. This suggests the lightning thing either wasn't true or happened twice, which seems unlikely. I saw the bad reviews about garbage and security issues before we moved in, but when I mentioned the reviews to the people at the office, they were so nice and appeared to be so transparent with us that we decided to take a chance and believe them that the reviews were outdated or just disgruntled people trying to make the complex look bad. The issues persist. The people in the office truly are nice, but there are clearly have clearly underlying issues with the building fire alarms and security systems that they either haven't disclosed or don't know about. Other issues with the building, the office can't do much about. The facilities, including common hallways, are a bit run down. Tenants allow their dogs to poop in the parking garage. People leave trash in common areas. We got an email recently that heavily implied people are having sex in the pool. I'm not being dramatic and I don't have a vendetta. In fact, I feel bad posting this review - I feel like I'm betraying the nice people at the office. But I'm being honest when I say that until they've resolved the issues with the fire alarm, security systems, and trash services, it's not worth your sleep quality, peace of mind, and especially your money to live here.
If I could give 0 stars, I would. The management team is horrible . We moved into an apartment that had not been professionally cleaned before our move in. We moved in on a Saturday and when we told management, they told us there was nothing they could do for us until Monday. There was dried pee on the toilet seats and mold in the dishwasher. We have 50+ pictures of filth that we had no choice but to clean ourselves in order to move our things into our unit. Management did NOTHING for us and offered no solutions. It was our problem, not theirs. Since then, things have only gotten worse. Our washer, dryer, and dishwasher were broken upon move in. They lied to us about our charges in the "bundle." I've had an outstanding maintenance request for two weeks for an issue with the microwave. Corporate has done absolutely nothing. DO NOT LIVE HERE. UPDATE: (as of 5/17) My car has been broken into 3 times since living at Elizabeth Station, which has only been since August. Other cars too. The last time my window was completely shattered in what's supposed to be a secure parking garage. EVERYONE in the office was aware of my car break in. The last thing on my mind was checking to see if my parking pass was stolen, which it was. My car was towed and Elizabeth Station did NOTHING to help me in this already horrible situation. The guy in the front office said "It's black and white. You either have a parking pass or you don't" KNOWING that mine was stolen out of my vehicle days before. He showed zero empathy or willingness to help in any way. He was very condescending in the way he spoke to me. I never have pleasant experiences with management when issues arise at this complex. It's as if as soon as you become a resident they no longer care about you. All they care about is getting you to sign the initial lease. Additionally, my car was parked only two spaces away from resident apartments. Only separated by an UNLOCKED door that management is aware of. We've brought this security hazard to them multiple times. The door is broken and does not lock. Anyone can walk into resident halls. If someone's willing to violently break into vehicles that close to apartments, what's stopping them from breaking into apartments? Especially with the door to the hall being unlocked. Management comes up with excuses not to fix the door. This complex is not safe and I've other reviews say the same. Nothing has improved since my 1st review. DO NOT LIVE HERE.
Do yourself a favor and stay away! Whoever wrote these wonderful reviews is lying! Trash everywhere, common areas never cleaned, security gates unlocked all the time, they got rid of the security officer that used to make sure they were locked, noisy, can hear neighbors through the walls, and they had the nerve to raise the hundreds of dollars plus they’re starting to charge for parking for nothing! Much better places to rent from at this price point. After a year of renting there I ran and even lived out before my lease was up.
The state of this place is horrible. No one cleans any common places like the garage or the mail rooms or the hallways. They’re disgusting. No one is dusting down cob webs, power washing or even aesthetically keeping the place. They raised my rent over $300 and the maintenance man asked me for masking tape to repair my refrigerator. My air conditioning unit has broken or stopped working 7 times in a little over a year. The ducts seem to be clogged because there is an annoying creaking noise coming from the vents. The staff is friendly but very matter of fact. The garage doors keep breaking and Instead of replacing or upgrading them they’re just patching things up like they do everything else here. They can’t manage the trash for some reason. Long story short, for the price we pay for rent here the grounds are mediocre despite “LUXURY APARTMENTS” being plastered all over the place. You can pay the same rent and pick one of the many many MANY true luxury apartment complexes in the city. The only reason I am still here is because I was “tricked into signing the base rent lease before the RBS fees were disclosed to me by the property manager. There was a $270 difference that he swore to me was only $50 because they were “replacing other expenses”
Kelly is 1 of the best leasing agent I ever came across. She went above and beyond to ensure I got the apt I wanted. She is really is the best of the best!!! The apt complex itself it’s really nice. No issues with my key fob, yes residents hit the gate from time to time so it is down at times. They seem to fix it timely…Leasing office staff always polite and responds to my calls/text very timely. Apt is centralized….not smacked in Uptown, but only 5-7mins from it. No complaints about the upkeep of the property. Gym is always clean when I visit. The outside trash at times can be better, however they seem to work on the pick times weekly.
Awful office staff (rude & will not return calls or deal with concerns). Increased rent by $500 + but became worse. Trash is not collected but increased in price monthly. Trash all over complex. Poop all over side walks. Pool rules are crazy. Parking garage is usually open and anyone can come in. Key fobs and doors stop working and they don't care to fix.
We moving out this place a week before the lease was up. My son rental this place last year when it was venue apartments it was amazing experience for him relocating from New York state to the Queen city. Since the new owners took it over the place is trash. My son signed a 0ne year lease in stay there only 6 months came back to N.Y. We was going to renew the lease due to the rest of the family moving down by him and they wanted to raise up it extra 300 dollars. He decision not to renew the lease in we can down in a week before the lease was up in moved anything out. To make a long story short they want to keep all his security deposit due to damages and not cleaned. Here are the picture we took before leaving the home also we rented a steamer for the carpet floor to clean in the bedroom. The stuff they point out was Normal tearing wear on apartment that you have to take care of before the next tenant move in. My suggestion they are some ripp off don't rent from this apartment complex.
Since the new management room over this place has gone down hill. The property is not taken care of the trash area reek, dog poop cans are full and never have bags and gates break frequently and are not fixed in a timely manner. Not to mention they are painting the building a god awful color scheme that makes the place look as trashy as it smells. You would think with the quality going down hill so would the price, it however is increasing. There are a lot newer properties in the area with comparable prices, move there instead.
This place used to be pretty good when used to be Venue, but since there is a new management company and they changed to Elizabeth Station and they are horrible. Dustin the property manager is very rude and unprofessional. He insulted one of my neighbors and told them to leave if they can’t afford it, just because they talk to him about $400 increase in rent. Trash is everywhere in hallways between apartments and garage. Bugs, rats and roachs are everywhere in hallways and inside apartments. The garage gates and doors have been broken for over than a month and open 24 hrs. People who don’t live here park their cars with no permit tag same spots for weeks. We can not find spot to park our cars and they are charging us to park. Pool has been broken and not cleaned since they take over the place. Gym is not cleaned. Packages is lost or stolen. I’m moving out once my lease is over. There a lot of apartments in plaza Midwood more nicer and respectful management to deal with.
Trash: The biggest issue is the trash. They simply don't do anything with it. Trash has pilled up the trash shoot, pilled up the trash room, and has even made its way in the hallways before. The cockroaches and smell in the hallways is a side effect. A building full of rotting trash definitely doesn't scream luxury to me. And I wonder how they are using all of the money each of us pay in our rent for trash each month then. Security: Although fixed now, all the locks on the doors to the building and garage were broken. To get in, we had to have rocks propped up in between the doors. This allowed anyone to have access to our building. They had the garage doors always open, and still are open. Again, anyone could come in and out. I saw some teenagers riding their bikes in the garage and shouting, and then later that night saw those same teenagers at our pool. They ended up running out of the pool after being chased by a resident. Also with the garage door open, people have constant access to our packages that sit at the entrance of the garage. Most of our packages are sliced open and looked through. One of ours was completely stolen. Communication: There is absolutely no communication between the property management and the renters. Even when all the locks to the building were down, we didn't receive a single email. You would also expect some of the same treatment the last company gave us with the pool parties and food trucks, but they haven't done anything. Even when they had people outside my windows and balcony power washing, it would have been nice to know they were doing that so I could have brought my belongings inside and closed the blinds.
I lived here for 2 years when the apartment was called the Venue (experience was pretty good). This is my third year. Since the new management took over almost two months ago, most of the gates have been broken, hallways haven’t been cleaned in over a month (they were mopped weekly under venue management) and the trash rooms are over flowing. Packages are getting stolen, I assume because of all of the broken gates. I no longer trust to send my packages to my own address. New ownership thinks that these apartments deserve a premium price due to location, but can’t even provide basic safety and cleanliness you would expect.
Once Elizabeth Station took over the apartments from Venue, this place has gone down the toilet bowl. The trash rooms are filthy and not cleaned out days on end. The gates and building doors have been broken and propped open with rocks for about a month now. They claim it’s due to a lightning storm and have to order parts. The lightning storm happened a month ago…. Also the management team is super unresponsive. They test fire alarms without sending the appropriate emails out to their residents. Unfortunately I had just signed my lease just before Elizabeth Station took over. I had lived here two years prior with Venue. I will NOT be living here a forth year. Can’t wait to get out of here! . They test fire alarms without sending the appropriate emails out to their residents. Unfortunately I had just signed my lease just before Elizabeth Station took over. I had lived here two years prior with Venue. I will NOT be living here a forth year. Can’t wait to get out of here!
Lived here for over 2 years when it was The Venue, the management & leasing office staff were the worst. They got bought out at the end of my lease and the new company is just as bad. Sent our security deposit back to the wrong person and the fees we were charged with for move-out items were more than double what Venue told us they would be, so I guess the new company upped prices. They would rarely answer the phone and take days to return calls if they even did. Would not recommend to anyone.
If you are thinking in moving herr you need to think it twice, the application process was a nightmare they kept treating me horrible, they dont know how to run a credit report, yes they will give you discounts but I promise you they will take it back x10 down the road! Contract talks in one section about letting subleas and in one other small one they wont allow to sublease, really? Even the uptown apartments allow to sublease! They kept making mistakes on my account and balances since day 1, and when they realize the errors then they treated me like I was the one with problems and will threaten me with my credit report even thought it was their mistake. They would say manager will contact you but She will only if you owe them money if not She will NOT! The sound of the train is horrible day and night! I didnt realize it was a train tracks prior to moving but ohhh Godness it was not fun at night!!! PLEASE DO NOT MOVE TO THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX TRUST ME AFTER MIRE THAN 3,000 usd on overcharges and penalties and even they have not give me response on my deposit which as per other former tenants they will get a way to keep yhem too... I can say they are the WORST APARTMENTS IN CHARLOTTE!
If you are considering living at the Venue, I would encourage you to explore other options. Because this type of housing is in such demand in Charlotte, there are many other apartment complexes in the area with similar floor plans and facilities. The two things can make a difference are cost and property management. If our experience is an indication of what you’ll have to look forward to, you’ll be stuck with charges on the way out the door and the hassle will not be worth any perceived savings. My wife and I are pretty low maintenance, so we didn’t have much interaction with management during the year and although we experienced some of the issues referenced in other reviews, we were willing to look past them. Our real frustration came after we moved out. We paid $200 for a “Hassel Free” move out because carpet steaming and other routine cleaning was included, and we were in a hurry to leave. That was a mistake. Weeks after we moved out, we received a bill with additional charges that exceeded what was covered by the “Hassel Free” charge and our $250 security deposit. We immediately responded to the email, but did not hear back. After calling and emailing multiple times, we finally reached someone on the management team. We were provided pictures of the underside of the carpet that were supposed to show we had caused damage, but the team refused to provide pictures of what it looked like before we moved in and we had no reason to believe we caused the damage. After receiving a text message late one weekend night threatening to send us to collections, we had emails, calls, and texts ignored for multiple business days. In the end, we received a small discount for an unrelated charge, but were charged to replace the carpet and did not recoup any of the “Hassel Free” cost related to carpet steaming.
way too expensive. no different than any other complex. always noisy from train (which rattles apartment) or road noise. never enough parking.
I love living at the Venue. The location is convenient… only 5 minutes to Uptown/Metropolitan. The Elizabeth neighborhood is great…very quiet and beautiful tree lined streets. The neighborhood is awesome for walking the dog (and Venue also has their own enclosed Dog Park). The grounds and landscaping are immaculate…it is like living in a resort. The clubroom/café is beautiful and there is a theatre room too. Nice gym…small and limited equipment. Nice pool. The apartment itself is amazing. The quality and finishes are much better than a condo. Beautiful plank flooring, marble counters with square cut sinks, tile backsplash, ceiling fans, hi-end appliances (love the Whirlpool Duet washer/dryer)…I couldn’t ask for more. I looked at dozens of apartments before settling on Venue and I am glad I did. It is an amazing value in Charlotte.
