Property Ratings at Verde at Howard Square West
There seems to be mixed reviews on the noise. It varies depending on what road you are facing, and what your neighbors are like. Road noise is much higher if you are facing washington blvd. On hearthside way, there is much less road noise as the cars are moving much slower. However, the garbage truck comes around on most weekdays around 8-8:30am, and if you are a light sleeper, you will get woken up by it. In terms of the neighbor sounds, experiences will highly vary because it depends on your neighbors. The flooring and walls at verde seem to be very bad at blocking out noise caused by heavy walkers, instruments, kids, pets, etc. If you have quiet neighbors, then this place could be ok, if you want to risk it. Its also impossible to tell how your neighbors will be when you visit the apartments because they might not be there for your 30 minute tour. Everything else about this place seems ok, but the noise is unacceptable for a place that is advertised as "luxury apartments". The office staff tried to help, but I think these buildings just weren't designed all that well. I've lived in apartments half the price with half the noise.

Truly disappointed! The front office staff here is wonderful (Ronald and Chris), and the apartments on the inside are beautiful, however, there if I had to do all over, I honestly would not have moved here a couple of months ago. I'm in the new building (Verde East), and although newly constructed, I feel as though this place will end up being an absolute mess very quickly. Each time I put in a maintenance request, I have to call the office to remind them it has been a few days since I placed the request, which should be unacceptable. Neighbors are also allowing their dogs to defecate in the garage, and people drive carelessly when coming in and out of the garage. Let's get into the trash!! The hallway smells terrible because neighbors refuse to use the actual trash chutes, and instead drop food and used containers all over the place. I've spoken to management, and even swept and mopped the trash room myself, but still absolutely nothing is being done. The same trash has been left in the room for a week now, and the floor hasn’t been swept or mopped in over a month when I did it myself! There is actual chicken on the floor (regular occurrence). There is no staff to clean the trash rooms or to check these rooms on a daily basis, although that is what I was told would happen. I mopped in the trash room almost a month ago and no one has swept or mopped since then. If other people want to live with rodents, that's fine, but I'm not at all interested. For the price I pay here, I could have rented a private home in this same neighborhood. People need to do better!
I’ve been at Verde for almost two months now. I would usually wait to review but I figured anyone looking for an apartment might benefit from hearing a recent renter’s experience. So far everything is really great. The leasing team is really amazing and some of the friendliest people I have met. After being approved for my unit, I had about a month before my actual move in date. Chris, my leasing agent, was so kind in keeping in touch and letting me come in to see the unit I was going into even before I was ready to move in. I ended up changing my mind on the initial unit I was going to because I wanted a balcony. I just knew someone would be annoyed but…not at all! Not only were they accommodating to my switch but they turned the paperwork around the same day. When I moved in (on a Wednesday) it was a breeze, I handed over my paperwork and got my keys. The apartment is really beautiful and spacious for me. The hallways are generally kept clean but every now and then you’ll see a piece of trash lingering. But that’s more on the residents and not the building as a whole. Other reviewers have mentioned noise and there are some valid points with that. I do hear loud footsteps and children running a couple times a day but honestly that’s a price for apartment living. I’m not too sensitive to noise so it doesn’t really bother me at all. Some other pros: garage parking (free for one vehicle and a low fee for adding additional), secured building, amazon hub, maintenance response time. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone looking to live in a nice area with accessibility to highways, shopping centers and restaurants. At the very least come in for a tour to see for yourself!
These Apartments are built with cheap materials, because of which they are very noisy. Its like living on the road. They are very pricey and the amenities are also not very good. Multiple times, the guests cars were towed away for no apparent reason and the manager has no proper response when asked for the reason. Looks like the towing company and the property management are close associates.
Living at Verde at Howard Square since 2014. Management, especially Cindy, has been excellent and the personnel are always friendly and helpful. The place is awesome and the maintenance team members are quick and skillful. The complex is quiet and clean. I recommend this apartment.
Hello I am new to this site I would like to take the opportunity to express my feelings the apartment community I believe was recently built a year or two ago my apartment is beautiful great location I love the controlled access there is an oversize checkered board that is fun to play and a nice pool to relax next to but I will not be in my two-piece this year LOL The staff is fantastic maintenance staff is excellent I had a few minor issues and they were fixed correctly very fast there are two maintenance guys Stevie and Toni These guys are great they keep the whole property looking sharp and a place I like to call home The leasing staff in the office is great if I have any questions I can always call and they will give me an answer on the spot great location Close to 95 as I work near Fort Meade The parking is great I have no complaints everything is covered so when it rains your car is dry and you don't need to worry about getting wet coming back from the store etc. The gym is very nice for your every day workout use the clubhouse is beautiful there is a pool table a gas fireplace a wet bar a nice TV on the wall I have to say it is very relaxing here and OMG the hallways are very very quiet my last property that I stayed at was very loud and could not get any sleep I love this place.
The is the perfect place for the person on the go. Close proximity to several major highways. The apartments are large and the community is quiet. The staff is great and the amenities are awesome. The courtyards are great and the property is well maintained. It is the best choice I could have made.
I've lived in Verde for 1 year. The apartment itself is pretty decent. This is a new construction apartment complex...I believe it opened in 2014. Despite the new construction after living here a year I've seen where shortcuts were taken during the building of the apartment. The parking situation was problematic when I first moved in, but after my spot was situated parking has been great. I worked with a guy named Jason and a girl named Colleen on my lease they were both awesome. They have since transferred to different properties and I had simple situations that the current management would not fix. I love customer service and the fact they gave me the run around ultimately helped make my decision to move. All in all it's a good apartment for a decent price...especially if you get a special. I paid $1260/month. Below is a list of Pro's and Con's. Pros: 1. Garage Parking 2. Convenient location major highways between DC and Baltimore 3. Low utility bills Cons: 1. Cheap finishes in apartment 2. Small shower 3. Management has been good and bad 4. Small Pool
This building just opened up in early 2014 so most of the building still looks new. However, the unit I moved into had seen a lot of wear and tear from the previous tenants. The apartment complex replaced the carpet and repainted the walls, but there is obvious damage in other parts of the apartment such as appliances, dings in the floor, etc. Management has been excellent, they are always friendly when I see them and were reasonable when it came to rent renewals. The shared / common areas are kept up by management so they still look brand new. Two potential negatives about the complex: 1) If you have a unit on the Route 1 side, it can be very noisy. They did a good job installing good windows to block out much of the noise, but there is only so much you can do to block it out. 2) Parking can be annoying sometimes. There are assigned spots, but I have come home a couple times to find someone parked in my spot and no recourse as to how to get them to move since its after hours. In addition, the turns are somewhat tight getting around the garage, and I have seen a few close calls are far as cars that have almost hit each other. Overall, I recommend this apartment to anyone looking for something somewhat reasonable in the Howard County area, but be aware of where in the building you decide to stay as it can make a big difference on your perception of the place.
We moved in Verde at Howard Square late last year and its been a great experience. Don't think any apartment is absolutely perfect but honestly can't really find any major complaints here. Its conveniently located in the area, rooms are like new, and the staff is very professional. Craig and Cindy are the best managers a property could have. They are helpful and genuinely seem to care about meeting all of our needs! Their maintenance staff is also hard working to get issues resolved in a timely manner. Tony recently made some improvements to our main bathroom. He is always friendly and works effectively and with a lot of heart which is hard to find these days. There are plenty of amenities in the apartment, such as the business room which I find useful with just enough privacy. Schools and stores are nearby too in this wonderful growing community. Overall, my family enjoys living here and plan on staying here for years to come.
My fiancé went down and looked at the apartments when I was out of state. The staff was very accommodating with me since I couldn't be there in person. Jason, Eric and Cindy always responded back to any questions I had and were very helpful. The place is awesome and well maintained. Glad she found it.
I have lived at Verde for a year and I have really enjoyed my time here. The apartments are well insulated; I hardly ever hear a neighbor. The staff is friendly and helpful. The building is energy efficient making utility bills low. The central location makes it easy to get to shopping, restaurants, and quick access to the highway. The only minor negative I can think of is the parking garage. Although it is awesome having covered, garage parking with an assigned spot my spot is two floors above my apartment and driving up and down 5 stories of parking garage everyday can get slightly annoying. Overall, I would highly recommend Verde at Howard Square to anyone!
Verde is a nice place to live and the front office staff make you feel at home. We have had no problems with the apartment during our time here. I recommend you at least come and give it a look.
The managers at Verde at Howard Square were accommodating after my family and I had major issues with the first apartment we moved into. The apartment is located next to a heavily traveled road, and we could hear the traffic all hours of the day. It was relentless. All we wanted was piece and quiet and we never got it. But once we let the mangers know of our dissatisfaction they quickly met with us to resolve the situation.
