Harrison’s location along the banks of the Passaic River just north of Newark makes it an appealing alternative to living in the big city. Harrison’s charm is inescapable thanks to its tidy streets and diverse neighborhoods. The city’s relatively small population sticks together as a tightly knit community while transportation options make commuting to work relatively easy.
Development along the riverfront and construction of new multi-use buildings and apartments are providing renters with a vibrant new image of Harrison. The rest of the city is made up of charming residential areas with well-maintained homes and buildings. Harrison’s relatively low crime rate, close proximity to Newark and Jersey City, and its access to public transportation are combining to make this an up-and-coming area in the tri-state area.

Property Ratings at Vermella Harrison
Vermella Harrison has multiple mechanical and safety issues. You'd do better looking at other complexes in the area. Example: over Christmas weekend, at least 10 apartments were flooded by burst pipes. Management blames this on residents, saying we don't keep our heat high enough to warm the UNINSULATED closets on our balconies that contain our furnaces. Apparently they didn't know it gets cold in New Jersey in winter. Management had the temerity to claim - the morning after the weekend - that they had been unaware of the issues and the damages done to our apartments. Maintenance did their best to stop the floods and the damage. Now there is need for professional mold and mildew remediation and that should happen within days of water damage. When you manage a building with 500 residents, you cannot do that from 9 a.m to 5pm Monday through Friday. Add to this the fact that there is zero security in the building and then take your chances if this siuation appeals to you.
Honestly, I used to love living here. The building is still amazing and I love all the amenities but management has changed. They simply don’t care about the residents anymore. When I first got here I felt like I was part of a family. Now I’m just another number on a dry erase board. I promise the second you sign that lease you won’t matter even if their failure to address basic things in the building makes you miserable. Whether it’s a loud obnoxious neighbor, music blasting at 2am, people above you stomping around all night or just about anything that people dread about an apartment they still won’t address it. I wouldn’t think that I am unreasonable either. I’m talking about excessive things. This is something they used to resolve very quickly but now you’re lucky if you even get a call back to give some lame excuse why there’s nothing they can do. I would not recommend until they change management

Dear Resident - Thank you for your review, we really appreciate your feedback as it helps us grow and find ways to make this a better community. Our Quiet Hours Rule is in place to make sure all residents have a comfortable home environment and we strive to make sure all residents adhere to these policies. We take noise complaints very seriously, especially during quite hours, and make sure to address these issues right away. Please give us a call in the leasing office so we can discuss further. Thank you again for providing us with your feedback. Should you need anything further, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you, Vermella Harrison Management Team
Unsafe. I was threatened by someone while riding the elevator. Noise. Noise through the walls, from the hall, from upstairs, from downstairs, from the court yard, the air unit is very loud, it's a cheaply made building. Unresponsive leasing staff. Send emails with no response. Submit request online with no response. Ask for info on the phone and they say they will call you back but don't. No hot water for days. During the winter months the hot water would go out for days on end. Dirty smelly hallways. Dog poop in the hallways. Trash bags and dirty old shoes in front of apartment doors. The carpets are stained. The floors are warped. Hallways smell awful in the evening (mix of food odors).

Vermella Harrison is not an average community providing average amenities. Here you get more than what you are paying for in terms of service and experience. We checked quite a few rental properties in Harrison, NJ and it would be safe to say that this place is the best. We would and have recommended this place to many of our friends and they are currently our neighbours. Its just 2 minutes from the Harrison, PATH station. About 10 mins to Walmart and 15mins to Jersey City... making it the perfect location to settle down and call HOME. We have been here for close to a year now and for anyone who reads reviews before renting, ensure that you choose the right view when looking out the window. There is no sound issues from the Red Bulls Arena side which is right opposite the community, so maybe you want to look at that side first. There is currently construction going on at the Crucible Dr side, once that gets done, this is also a good option. The entire house is well lit as the sun moves about right over the window on the crucible dr side. To add - their gym is HUGE and can easily be compared to a professional one, they have every equipment one can think of and a yoga or pilates room (with a virtual training app like the listing mentions).
BAD Maintenance Team!!!! Stay away from this building!!
I moved into one of the studios. The studios have the air conditioner installed inside the unit. The air conditioner inside the units are so loud, it's heard to get a small nap without waking up and forget about having a sound night sleep without waking up atleast a few times every night. I complained to the leasing office and all they said is that its just the AC sound. I can't believe I am stuck with this apartment for another 12 months. Also, there is a construction going beside this apartment making all kinds of noises throughout the day. The windows and walls are not soundproof at all, so i hear the construction sounds all the time. And, I agree with the other reviewers that the leasing office don't care as much once you become a resident. Please, save yourself from Vermella Harrison apartments.
I moved here 3 weeks ago, and everything I mention above just happened to me. I got noises from the wall, bathroom, ceiling, literally everywhere. Noises are various like ticking, blowing even a dog crying. There's a water leak upstairs and that made all my wood floors swollen up. This is a brand new apartment, but ridiculously weak and fragile. They fixed some floor, without covering my furnitures and appliances, so I'm living with dusts right now. The maintenance guys entered my apartment without leaving any notice, and without getting any permission from me. I noticed that someone sneaked in my apartment when I was not home, because some stuffs were relocated. However, they didn't even let me know that until I claimed about the security problem. Leasing office. Well, they are going to act like humble and friendly at first when you are a customer, but once you become a resident, they won't be. Bad place to live. I can't believe I still have another 12 months to live here.
