In my opinion, the best thing to live here is great view. Since it is located near TXST, it's easy to go there. They have community amenities like finess and it is awesome!

Hi, your wonderful feedback and rating mean a lot to us.
The rent is way too high for what you get. The amenities are fine, but the property has rats, and the trash is constantly overflowing in the hallways. The management does not care about its residents, they just want your money. If you have safety or roommate concerns, they will blow you off or even be rude to you. I have heard management straight up lie to people in order to get them to sign the lease.
I’ve lived here for about a year and a half since moving for grad school. I’m super impressed with the friendliness of staff, how clean the building is, the great amenities (gym, work rooms, pool area) and the unbeatable price. It’s also a 2min walk to campus which is super convenient for going to and from class (no need for an expensive parking pass). I will likely be here until I graduate as the apartment offers a lot at a great price.
I have lived at Vie lofts for 2 years now and solely chose it based on the location that is right across from campus. Since moving in, I have encountered numerous friendly faces from my neighbors to the office staff. The property is always clean and very secure. My parents and family love coming to visit me to take advantage of all the shops and restaurants around the building. If you are a freshman or moving to San Marcos, I highly recommend this complex.
I feel so sorry for anyone who lives near the trash chute. While it might seem convent in the beginning it will end in a disaster. We had to walk over trash nearly every day. Maybe one day a week it would be clean but we lived on the third floor and the chute was constantly clogged. We would call maintenance every time it was clogged to let them know to clear it. They then would become annoyed with us constantly asking for them to solve this problem. Like we weren’t annoyed with the garbage sitting outside of our door. Cockroaches would then congregate around the trash and get into our apartment. There was one time after Christmas break that the trash got so bad and management wouldn’t do anything about it, 3 of the 4 of us then got sick. We went to the health center and were told we had bacterial infections from being in contact with garbage. We then told management about it and they did nothing.
Sit down moms, dads, grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, prospective students, and current ones. Come one, come all it is story time, and boy do I have stories for you!! Also please note I have had time to write this rather thorough, and detailed review, at 4:52am. I am on day TWO of my AC being broken in JULY after they closed my maintenance request yesterday saying my AC had been fixed. It is not fixed. This next paragraph is mostly taken from another review , but I have added in parts from my own experience... please, when you’re ready, read on! Smoke alarms went off at 3:00am 04/11/2019. Residents evacuated and waited...and waited...and waited for fire department response. Finally residents started calling 911. Surprise! The fire alarms aren't linked to fire department or monitored at all....and the management staff that live on property didn't know that even though previous residents report they found out the alarms weren't monitored. This is terrifying when there was an actual fire approximately a year ago (the Iconic Village fire where students died in their apartments due to faulty, and out dated smoke alarms.) Luckily, no fire was found in this case. When the fire department actually did arrive it took them a while until the building was cleared for re-entry. It is now 5 o’clock in the morning. At this point, management did not turn the elevators back on the which meant everyone got to trudge up the stairs after two hours outside with anxious pets in the wee hours of the morning. Thank god no one was hurt. Take away, management under the new owners is still less than stellar and THE ALARM SYSTEM IS NOT MONITORED. If there is an emergency and someone needs to be rescued from the tip top of this ramshackle building, there will be no response...Save your kid's lives and spend your money on safe residency. Rent elsewhere. Another safety issue. Many people know the codes to get access into our building and parking garage. Again, the apartment seems safe, but it is not as safe as they lead you to believe. Once people are inside the building they have access to any floor they would like.
I would rate Ella Lofts now Vie Lofts less than a 1-star if the system would allow. Make sure if you rent that you do not get apartment 305-D because the AC does not work properly and they refuse to fix it. If you get this apartment, look at all the patches in the ceiling, this is from the numerous attempts to repair the AC to no avail. They even have the nerve to try and charge electrical overages when they know the AC in this unit runs nonstop. They are adding a ceiling fan to disguise the fact that the AC does not work but they have yet to fix the AC problems. There have been so many maintenance problems, like the kitchen sink flooding the apartment and it took them 5 months to repair. Just imagine not being able to use your kitchen sink for 5 months. Vie is trying to make the complex better but they are very unprofessional and just as bad and the previous management. They entered my unit to do "renovations" for next semester (fall 2019) and had the nerve to move my belongings while I was out of town. Additionally, when they left the apartment they left my door unlocked for anyone to loot and steal my stuff. They conveniently sent an email stating they were not responsible for any belongings that were missing or stolen during their "renovations." If you are sending your student to Texas State University for an education, this is the last place you want to allow them to live. This complex is a "hot mess" and a total distraction from the education of students.
only property thats a 5 minute walk from campus that is fully furnished and also has study rooms, rooftop pool, private lofts and bathrooms. New management company just took over and they are upgrading all the units to all hardwood and they finally hired a good maintenance team. Would recommend to students, higher end, but worth the cost.
worst complex in San Marcos. Management is incompetent. Neighbors and unruly and had cops called on them for partying. Complex is in shambles barely standing up right. Windows don’t open. No ceiling fans. Pieces of wall is missing. Only one elevator which doesn’t work half the time. It was down for over a month at one point. Good luck getting up 6 flights of stairs if you have any disability. They came into my apartment without warning me to fix hurricane Harvey damage. Risked letting my cat out of the apartment or hurting him to bring in huge equipment while I was in class to fix water damage. They left my apartment an unlivable mess for over a month. Just recently go around to finally fixing it after many many phone calls. Horrible place.
