Property Ratings at Vie Towers
this review is for students who go to Howard and is looking for an apartment. Please do not move here, the staff doesn’t care about you just your money. Everyone had an attitude and somethings always broke, including the elevators. Save yourself

I moved in about a week or so ago and I’ve been loving the very spacious room I have to the view from my bedroom window and the amenities is just a plus for me so excited living here!
Great place for a student to live especially if you take advantage of the free shuttles for Howard or UMD. The apartment is really clean and they stay on top of pest control. Repairs are done in a reasonable time. Papaer mail was at times delayed but never a huge problem. Pretty sure, packages came on time most of the time. Staff was accommodating. At one point, I had the personal cell of one of the staff and they would answer my questions very quickly. Great place to build your rental history as a student and very nice apartment for a great value. The amenities (gym, rooftop pool, etc.) and access to most things you would need for entertainment and shopping in walking distance really put this place over the top
Been living here for a while and it's a good place to rent if you don't mind sharing a kitchen and get decent housemates. The only complaint is rent is high considering you share a kitchen with 2-3 others.
Very negligentful staff. this place over priced. Make this place your last resort for off campus housing
The management in this building is so negligent it borders on abusive at times. My room flooded twice with absolutely no apology or acknowledgement. Honestly they seemed upset with ME for THEIR horrendous building quality. None of the appliances/fixtures in your room will be usable. The tubs are cheap and become damaged almost immediately. The walls are covered in cheap, chipping paint that WILL come off because they purposefully place all of your furniture up against the walls and there is nowhere else to really put that stuff so you WILL be charged for paint at the end of your lease. I don’t know a single person who was not charged for it. It’s automatic. Between myself and my 12 classmates who lived in other suites, only one of us has a working washing machine. Management has double charged me for rent and refused to fix it until I literally begged. This is a slum. PLEASE avoid.
Filthy hallways, garbage rooms, & even kitchens (bugs upon move in). They don’t clean or paint the units well but expect you to do a deep clean & repaint when you’re moving out. If not they will slap on random charges. Okay if this is your LAST option.
I would never stay here if I knew the things that would happen here. Despite smoking being against the lease nothing is ever done against those who smoke despite several calls to security. Maintenance seems to never come when requested, I wasn't able to do dishes for over three weeks because of it! So, unless if you like the smell of marijuana all the time, I wouldn't stay here.
This property is overpriced and they clearly do not care about the students living here, or else they would have ensured that the quality and amenities that were promised were going to be put into action. The quality of everything in these apartments is highly upsetting to say the least. The apartments were dirty upon arrival and everything within is of terrible quality. The images on the website are very misleading and it has so far been a waste of my time and money renting here. I have lived in better conditions in my on campus dorm at my university for less money, and that says a lot. So, I am currently interested in breaking my lease early, and I have only lived here for 2 weeks so far.
I recently resigned my lease and I regret it… I constantly have wifi issues , management walking in and out of my unit without announcing themselves. There was a storm that caused the internet to be knocked out no apology email was sent nothing. Its just be constant situations where the management has shown they do not prioritize their tenants . Its supposed to be “ apartment style “ living but we are treated like children .
They overcharge for subpar apartments & amenities. Filthy hallways, garbage rooms, & even kitchens (bugs upon move in). They don’t clean or paint the units well but expect you to do a deep clean & repaint when you’re moving out. If not they will slap on random charges. Okay if this is your LAST option.
They do not care about residents. Unless you want to be mad, sad and depressed everyday save yourself the trouble. Money hungry with no regard for residents safety. Someone is going to get hurt here due to their negligence to legitimate safety issues.
My daughter rents an apt here , her lease is 8/2020-7/2021. She went from a 4x4 to a 2x2. Her roommates smoke weed and invited their friends over to smoke weed. My daughter doesn’t smoke. My daughter has been home since November 2020 and doesn’t really want to return back to her apt. The apt..building and area is nice. Theres a lot of stores across the street Target/ Macy’s..supermarket and plenty places to eat. I recommend you try and get a roommate u know.I feel bad my daughter can’t luck her on a room mate that doesn’t get high. I am paying rent in a place my daughter is not comfortable being.
Management has control issues and defeat the purpose of even living off campus. The security guards harass the people that live in the building. Ever since this property has switched management it has turned to complete trash. Maintenance walks into your room without knocking or announcing themselves. If you put in a maintenance request they will claim things have been fixed without even showing up to check out the maintenance issue. It’s not worth your money or energy. Please don’t waste your time. Also the reviews that 5 stars are actually management leaving reviews for themselves.

I've lived at Vie for the past 2 years, and I've had nothing but a great experience. The staff is amazing, friendly, and are very accommodating. Social events are almost every week, and they have the newly built Kahvie cafe and social lounge where the tenants can study, eat, and socialize. Its also in a great location; the PG Mall and Target are right in front of the building, grocery stores are within a walkable distance, as well as restaurants and the local movie theater which are directly behind the apartment building. The buildings are always clean and the apartments are fully furnished, which makes it an even more stress free experience!
My time at Vie was truly amazing. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Mr.Biggs. Not only did they assist me in moving my things, but my apartment had a great view and was bigger then I expected.
Whatever you do don’t move here. They treat their residents like criminals barging in their room without consent and denying them entry. They are money hungry and will do anything they can to take your money. Many amenities promised are not available. Gym, cafe, even rooftop have been under constant construction. Elevators barely work. You can’t pick up your mail unless you don’t work or go to school. Not worth it at all. I should’ve stayed on campus.
I just started looking for a new home and every person I’ve spoken with was amazing, kind and sweet. They’re also persistent making sure that you’re alright throughout the application process very quick to respond to questions. Just overall an amazing experience I look forward to living there.
Since Vie management has taken over, this place looks like a war zone! For some reason they have decided to do every renovation possible at once. There is only one entrance now regardless of what wing you live on and it changes randomly. There is no flooring in the entrance and a strange flickering to the lights. It smells terrible and depending on where the entrance is that day, you may have to do a lot of trekking to get to your place. Also only one out of 4 elevators will work. The location of the office changes and where to pick up mail changes. Trying to contact management is like a game of hide and seek. It is wild and highly inconvenient to people living here, but shows what little regard they have for their tenants. Do not spend a large amount of money on a place that does not value you. They installed new furniture, great now they can command higher rates that is basic economics. What should be consistent is treating tenants with respect and integrity. They show how little regard they actually have with all this inconvenience. Maintenance requests are just ongoing. There are great apartment complexes in this area, my friends live in some and they do not get treated poorly. I do not recommend and would give it a 0/5 if possible.
Worst place to live. I should’ve lived in the dorms. Vie has no regard for their residents. They will barge into your room regardless if you are naked, sleeping etc. They have been doing renovations for the past 4 months and come in at 8 AM. During finals they forced residents out of their rooms for 9 hours and thought some cold pizza would make everything okay. They will tell you they are coming to do renovations on a certain day and then show up on whatever day they want to at whatever time they want to. They have broken my lights, left nails everywhere after changing the locks, and left huge puddles of water on the floor in my roomates room. They then had the audacity to ask us for materials to clean up their mess. Its not even worth it to complain as no one will call you back. The shuttle times are inconsistent and during the school year you’ll be lucky if one comes ever hour. There are also not enough shuttles for the amount of residents and many people end up stading for a 30 minute shuttle ride or taking ubers.
There are so many other properties around this building that offer better security, rent at an equal or lower price, more individual space, and it’s overall better customer service. This is really a giant poorly run dorm. Everything is overpriced. Multiple times my room has been entered without notification and when you call the desk no one seems to know what happened or ever has a solution for any of your problems. Pretty much around the same time every year they start doing major renovations to the community areas that are truthfully mediocre for what you’re paying. They will always inconvenience the renter and not care because no one says anything because most of the people living here are kids. They give tours and I just feel bad because I see parents and kids being lied to. They want you download the app to pay online but then charge you an additional $50 to use major debit/credit cards. They increase the rent year after year for the same minimal space. The roof top pool is cute at best. There’s never enough seating, most times people are taking up seats fully clothed just blasting music, and smoking. The community room has been out of use for months because theyve been using it for storage and “renovations”. This happens often where the same amenities they brag about you can’t even use. Theyre working on their offices and inconvenienced the guest by making the elevators not go down to he first floor of one building. Anytime you were coming in no matter the time of night or what you were carrying you would have to take the stairs to catch the elevator on another floor or walk through to the other tower to use the elevators on the other side. Making the wait for the elavtor twice as long. They decided to change the bedroom and living room furniture. But now the bed is too small for the mattress and constantly slides off. I was told different things by multiple staff to then eventually be told that they wouldn’t change the mattress, even though I felt unsafe, because they wanted to wait until a new person came in and change the beds closer to their main move in date. The only benefit to this place is the location, and that’s where it stops. They're kids in the office who really don’t know what they’re talking about working under managers who barely make an effort to talk to you when you have a problem. They’re overall goal is to get as much money from you as possible. 1 star is for them having a pool at least.
Granted I am living with 3 other students but everything besides electricity is included and I didn't have to worry about bringing any furniture and I have my own bathroom. Word of advise, look at the unit you will be living in beforehand because when looking out the window, two sides of the building look directly at one another while the others look directly out.

Although the idea of having 3 roommates may sound insane, the towers is great for students. Fully furnished and you even get your own bathroom! They should stop raising rates, though.

Thank you very much for sharing these comments. We are so glad you enjoyed our community and your feedback helps both our staff and future residents make the right choice. We take very special care in our roommate matching process to limit any potential roommate conflicts and hope to bring together like-minded roommates to become lifelong friends. We are so glad to hear you had a good experience with yours. Regarding pricing, I would like to share a helpful tip! The lowest rates are always offered in the beginning of the leasing and renewal seasons. This past October, we offered rates as low as $710 for Fall 2016-2017. Getting in and getting leased early is the best way to secure a low rate! Thanks again for reaching out to us! Please feel free to reach out to me by responding to this post, via email, or stop by the office. Best Regards, Amanda Pyne, LM
University town center is an awesome apartment home community! The community is student focused. Very clean and great customer service . Very affordable for students in the D.C and maryland area. There are many convenient stores and a mall only 5min walk. And many great attraction. The apartment has a gym ,a rooftop pool ,a student study room ,and a game room. Maintenance service is provided and they respond quick and get the work done! And the building is well kept byva group of hard working individuals. Last but not least metro station is only 5min walking distant.
