It's the birthplace of the United States. It's a World Heritage City, the first in the country. It's Philadelphia's Old City, and it isn't just for tourists. This terrific neighborhood still features cobblestone streets, and the landmarks are amazing: Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, Penn's Landing, the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, and the Betsy Ross House. Elfreth's Alley is the oldest residential street in the nation, dating back to 1702. The museums are also impressive: the Museum of the American Revolution, the National Museum of American Jewish History, the Benjamin Franklin Museum, and the Independence Seaport Museum.
But while you'll have endless destinations to take out-of-town visitors, living in Old City provides a wealth of charm, walkable streets, terrific shops and restaurants, and an outstanding farmer's market. The neighborhood is bicycle-friendly, and bicycle rentals are available at Indego stations.

Property Ratings at The View at Old City
I like living here. I have all I need within walking distance like markets and transportation. I also enjoy some of the events that we have. My apartment is a spacious studio that’s a good fit for me.

My wife and I do not feel safe in the building due to the number of large dogs which includes a cane corso and another very large mastiff. Also, there is dog urine in the elevator at least twice a week.
Absolutely stay away unless you want to pay NYC prices, have unusable appliances and get gaslit by management when you ask for said appliances to be fixed.

Renewed my lease for the second time. New manager is improving the building and it’s turned into an enjoyable place to live! Dog park and proximity to bridge and 95 are the highlights for me.

Hello, Thank you for your wonderful review. We appreciate you taking the time to rate our community 5 stars. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can do to enhance your experience. Thanks again! - The View at Old City Team
The units in this building are nice and the amenities are very nice. They offer heat at a flat rate however this must be because the heating system barely works in the units. The management team here is very rude and incredibly difficult to deal with. If you would like any work done for your unit, be prepared to wait absurd amounts of time just for the smallest amount of work to be completed. Overall, if you are very laid back and do not care much about getting what you pay for I would tell you to live here, however, I think that for the amount of money rent is at this building, the management team needs to learn how to deal with customers and actually work to address the concerns brought up by residents. I would not recommend anyone to live here as the amenities may be nice but the way management deals with residents is not acceptable for this nice and expensive of an apartment complex.

We want to apologize for having disappointed you in any way. We value your feedback and we are sorry to hear that your interactions with our staff were anything but professional. Unfortunately, we're not able to reach out to you personally because this is an anonymous review. Rest assured, we take your input very seriously and would love the opportunity to discuss it in more detail with you personally. We do hope that we can regain your confidence and offer you an exceptional experience moving forward. Thank you. - The View at Old City Team
I have lived with my partner at the View for about a year and a half and we have both absolutely loved living here. The amenities are some of the best we've experienced while renting, the staff has been great to work with, and the community has been very friendly. My partner really enjoys the gym and Peloton bikes. Given the restrictions the pandemic caused, the roof deck, zen garden, and pool areas have been great outdoor spaces to aid in supporting mental health when we needed to get out of our apartment. Everything that has come with living through a pandemic has been challenging but it has helped tremendously to have a great place to call home that truly feels like home.

It's great to hear that you've both been able to enjoy the gym, the garden and all of the nice amenities we have to offer our residents. We know how difficult it was to get through the pandemic and hearing your feedback is really important to us. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are very grateful to have wonderful people like yourself as part of our community! - The View at Old City Team
I just finished touring The View at Old City and I wanted to talk about how amazing of an experience it was. Every single thing I saw in the building made me fall more and more in love with the idea of living there. There's a pool, a yoga studio and a gym, and even a zen garden (what?!). I really never thought of myself as someone who could live in old city but I'm really tempted to sign a lease. I think it might be a done deal and I really think I'm going to love it there.

This new building is amazing! I just visited while walking by as I am casually looking to upgrade my living situation. I must say, they did a fabulous job, the building is gorgeous and the units are really well done. There’s a pool and an amazing roof top! I work nearby and this would certainly be a perfect upgrade. The team that was working was professional and courteous. It’s not cheap but fair because it’s brand new, luxurious and the location cannot be beat! I filled out an application and just waiting to hear back from them. I checked out a few other places, not really this caliber, but I might have to step up my game and move here. Let’s see what they say, you must check it out when in the area. It’s truly spectacular!

I moved into The View at Old City in January 2020. The day before I was scheduled to move in, I was called by the Leasing Office and told that my unit was not ready and that I'd have to move in to a temporary unit down the hall. I lived in a temporary unit for 2 weeks before moving into my actual unit. Upon moving into my actual unit, my washing machine didn't work and the water was murky (there had been multiple days with no water at all while they were 'testing'). When the water was turned back on, there were mornings that I couldn't shower because the only temperature was scolding hot. There were also times that I got a knock on the door and 4-5 maintenance men entered my unit that did not speak English to 'fix' something that I didn't know about. The one night it was 8PM. I'm a girl, living alone, and was given no warning of maintenance men having to enter my unit. When I signed my lease, I had signed for a building that had a pool area and a rooftop as pictured on the website. The amenities ARE NOT FINISHED nor are they NEAR FINISHED. The management won't give an answer as to when the amenities will actually be available. The whole 2nd half of the building where the Zen Garden is located is taped off for disaster restoration after several major leaks. I have not yet seen the Zen Garden since I moved in because this area has been blocked off. Aside from all of this, I was not told at the time of signing my lease that the building offered an Air BnB service, Barsala. The whole 2nd floor of the building is rented out to this company and is offered to the public for ~$50/night. The clientele coming from this service is not that of a "luxury" building, in fact the management has received several calls about the clientele and has yet to do anything about it. Even in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic, the company still operates business as usual. When I signed my lease, I was told about the several amenities available, "First Fridays" for residents, amenities for my dog (aka a dog spa), etc. I have yet to receive that. What I WASN'T told about was the unfinished construction, the Air BnB business, the lack of management transparency, the mold issue that apparently happened in 2018 and the refusal to work with the PA union for contractors, the marriod of construction workers/companies in and out of the building all day everyday, and the total absence of "luxury" I've ever seen in an apartment building in Philadelphia.
