Tucked in the northwest corner of Cook County, suburbs such as Hoffman Estates, Palatine, South Barrington and Schaumburg vary widely in personality and composition. Schaumburg, the largest in population, is home to Ikea and Woodfield Mall, the largest mall in the Chicago area. Palatine, developed on a wooded marshland, comes in at a close second in size. Hoffman Estates, while smaller, is the most densely populated of the four suburbs and is home to AT&T's Midwest headquarters and Sears Holding Corporation. South Barrington, tiny in comparison, and arguably the most affluent in the area, is home to the famous mega church, Willow Creek Community Church.
Heavy traffic can double or triple commute times, so area locals know to check the highway reports before leaving home. Normal drive time into the city from this area is about 30 minutes via the Interstate 90 tollway. An easy 20 minute drive will take residents to O'Hare International Airport.

If you are thinking in turn “Village in the Park” into your home, you better think it twice. After 3 years living there with my son, they just sent me an email refusing to renew my lease; of course I asked if there was something wrong and the answer was: No, management just decided to Not renew your lease, yes just like that. At the beginning I was worried about my son and his classes in Hoffman Estates High School, but he told me: it wouldn’t be a problem. However, let me tell you something, I won’t miss Have to go to Amazon fresh to picking up my packages because people stole them from the lobby (they do nothing about that), not to mention broken intercoms or delays to fix something in your apartment. Definitely won’t miss share washing machine with people who wash bathroom mats or shoes… oh almost forgot about having to shower in the pool’s showers (yes, I woke up and went to take a shower before work and found this surprise)because a shut down of main water service (at least once a month ). I won't regret leaving Village in the Park.

Hi, Frency. We think it would be best if we spoke with you directly. Please stop by our office at your earliest convenience so we can discuss these claims. We look forward to speaking with you soon.
I do not recommend these apartments. There is a constant unpleasant smell in the building. Everything is dirty including the walls in the hallways. Out of 2 elevators, one does not work 90% of the time for months. The laundry room is always a mess, dirty washing machines that are disgusting to use. Constantly scattered packages, letters, advertising envelopes. My packages are constantly stolen, they are stolen the same day they are delivered and this has been going on for several years now. I don’t understand why there are cameras over there if no one does anything about it. Almost every day for the last 2 weeks my packages have been stolen. 4 of my parcels were stolen in a few days. I've contacted the office more than once and they just don't care what's going on. When I called the police they said that this happens all the time at this property . For some reason the office refuses to find out who is doing that and refuses to show you any video recordings from cameras. They absolutely don’t care who they accept to live here. First they show you a layout of the apartment and assure you that yours will be the same, and when you paid for the applications and come to move in the apartment, it turns out to be 100 times worse than the layout that was shown to you. There are constant problems with the sewage system. You will hear every time the toilet is flushed in the next apartment. Water will bubble in your toilet after your neighbors have used the toilet. If I could turn back time, I would never have rented these apartments The word “Luxury” on the name of this property sounds just ridiculous.

I was interested in this property, so I reached out for more information. I am looking for a 1 bedroom apartment with an April move in date. I see that they show MULTIPLE units with multiple dates (Apr. 13, 20, 21). All I'm hearing back from this property is that they have no April openings. I inquire about all these units that show and April date, and the lady tells me that the Apartments.com website and ALL other rental sites are wrong, and that I should look at their own website for the most accurate listings. So i go look at their website and it shows the same units that have April availability. So they either don't know what they're doing or don't want any applications

Village in the Park is a great place to live. I know some people post for contest, I’m posting for a honest review of this community. My first stay at Village in the Park was 6 years. That alone should speak volume I moved out for 1 year and came back the very next year. This will be where I retire. All I can say is, don’t think the grass is greener on the other side always, is true I’m glad there was a beautiful, nice clean apartment waiting for me The grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. The lobby’s are always maintained as well. The bottom line is, if you’re a responsible adult looking for a nice place to share with a community, then this is the place. Please read the do’s and don’t on your lease, let the exterminators in , be mindful of your neighbors and your stay at Village in the Park, will be a great stay

My husband and I LOVE living here! We highly recommend Village In The Park for its location, friendly staff, maintenance & overall great neighbors! The staff in the office is very informative and friendly anytime I had a question or was headed to the gym, they always said hello to me. Maintenance was always super helpful anytime there was an issue in our apartment and they were so quick to respond. The grounds around the building are very well kept. I constantly saw maintenance or someone picking up trash around the buildings. Thank you Village In The Park for making our experience here great, we love calling it home.

The staff are genuinely friendly and kind. The maintenance people are awesome!! When ever I need a repair It is taken care of immediately. The buildings, grounds and landscaping are meticulously kept. There is a beautiful pond with a lighted sprinkler system. During the spring and summer there are SWANS, DUCKS and every so often you see a CRANE in the pond. My experience at Village in the Park, in a word, FANTASTIC!!!!

Nice location, very safe. Lots of young families and friendly people live here, however, the property managers have really let the place decline, so it seems like a terrible waste of a great place to live. It started as small things, like heavy rainfall ruining some of the walls and window frames while they did roofwork on our building, but now it's beginning to become unreasonable for the price we pay for a "luxury" apartment. My building was down to one elevator for six months or so, and even in working order, sometimes they go down without warning or you can't call them from certain floors sometimes, and when you live on the sixth or seven floor, that's a problem. The hall carpets haven't been cleaned since I've lived here (over a year), and the walls haven't been painted, so there are marks from kids' bikes all over. Some of the main corridor corners are practically black. The water needs to be shut off regularly for maintenance, and now apparently the locks, which are opened with key fobs, will apparently stop working at any given time. There are other places where you can pay just as much for new appliances, carpet, and maintained buildings. This, however, is an alright Plan B or short-term stay if you're willing to put up with the frequent inconveniences.

I was pleasantly surprised by the environment when I moved in here 4 years back. It is a family friendly environment with all the required amenities. The best part is it's located near to all the grocery stores and restaurants. I would rate it 5/5 for the location and how economical it is.

I’ve lived at The Village in the Park for almost 3 years and just renewed my lease. The staff is genuinely friendly. No matter where you see them, you’re greeted with a smile and hello, always open to conversation. I never have any trouble with maintenance requests not being handled in a timely manner, and the maintenance staff is very respectful and so great about resolving problems. We have gorgeous pool areas, and the grounds are maintained beautifully. Great Staff, lovely grounds, maintenance is thorough and always friendly. Great activities for residents i.e. Zumba, yoga, beautiful pools and gym. I can honestly say that I definitely see myself living here for the next couple of years So happy to have found this place!

Currently living at Village in the Park, managed by Penobscot Management. I am living in an upgraded apartment, but apparently the countertops were never upgraded. Maintenance and the installer insisted on entering my apartment to measure the "defective" countertop for replacement. I emailed the Maintenance Supervisor stating I was not interested in the new countertops and forbid them from entering my apartment. He ignored my email, provided no notice as to when he planned to enter my apartment. When returning home after work, I found my old countertops propped up in the hallway (dangerous as kids will sometimes play in the hallways), and found my apartment unlocked but the work was not finished. I came home to a mess from their work, my things lying every where, as I had no notice to move countertop appliances, and no faucet installed in the sink. Maintenance left no note advising what had been done, why it had been done and when it would be completed. As they have master keys, they had disabled my door lock, so I couldn't even lock my apartment to visit the office. Once maintenance showed up, they were extremely rude to me about the entire situation. I communicated with management of the complex, and apparently since I had originally forbidden the maintenance people to enter my apartment, they thought it would be clever to not let them return to finish until I called. I have never seen a more poorly run apartment complex in my life. The area they display any efficiency and aggressiveness is ensuring they receive their rental payment on time. Otherwise the hallways are dirty, maintenance excels at finding ways to avoid fulfilling resident requests, and the management apologizes profusely but nothing ever seems to change. I would avoid Village in the Park and any property managed by Penobscot Management.

Lived here for 2 years, they sent an exterminator a few times but the roaches never went away. So gross.

Super entered in my apartment by mistake. Which made me realize that i don't have a door lock from inside. Contacted the management, i was told that they can not provide any lock from inside, this error may happen in future. Here are my final option that management and i concluded in the call after i was told that this is the final decision: 1. Talk to a lawyer if i want to pursue the privacy violation issue which can happen at any moment. Also, i was reminded that i don't own the property. However, i think i am still entitled for privacy and its risk should be the responsibility of the management team. "Sorry" should not work, because if i don't pay i will be kicked out from here. 2. Probably i can vacate (my conclusion). Thanks management for being like this, please understand you don't own anyone by renting your property, if you are renting for free then might be a different case.
I lived at Village in the park for about 3 years and loved my entire time there. The staff was always very friendly and easy to work with. The accommodations are kept up very well and if there are issues they were always resolved within a very reasonable amount of time. I would wholeheartedly recommend Village in the Park to anyone moving to the Schaumburg area!
We have lived here for two years. The apartment itself is spacious and the surroundings are beautiful. Whenever we had maintenance issues it was resolved in reasonable time. As far as pest issues are concerned we never faced that problem. In general it helps a lot if you empty your trash daily. Just eliminate the source which attracts the pests in the first place. They have a chute system which is very convenient too. It sure is a little noisy in the hallways as you have people living all around you and you get cooking smells but once you are inside your apartment it's your world. It's a very decent apartment complex if you have reasonable expectations. Not to mention we have always felt safe living here. Overall we had a good time here.
I am approaching the two year mark at Village in the Park and am pleased with my choice. The office staff is great, the maintenance workers are reliable, the suburban location is desirable. My unit has a fabulous view of the lake and trees and the concrete walls an ceilings keep the noise level to a minimum. The key fobs for each unit's door is a plus.
I'll be up front here and say my experience is positive. No place that you rent on a budget is going to be the same as owning a home (I've owned two). This isn't the Ritz Carlton, but I think it's an OK place to live if you couch your expectations in reality. I think a person can make a nice home for themselves anywhere the environment is suitable. I needed a place to hang my hat near my workplace without paying a fortune for it. I visited multiple places while searching for an apartment. Village in the Park had a combination of location and price that made it attractive to me. The population (the "village") is multinational/multiracial with a good percentage of the population coming from many different places in India. I found the neighbors to be as varied as anywhere else I've lived. The "park" has pond with a grassy area around it, a separate area with a nice little playground for the kids, some volleyball courts, and a trail that leads to a nearby suburb that is quiet and good for taking walks. The main street is fairly quiet especially considering it's location. The clubhouse has a small indoor pool, a jacuzzi, an outdoor pool, a small gym, and a large meeting room. It's all well maintained and clean and they have kid-friendly movie nights and other activities going on. The apartment itself showed signs of wear (the buildings have been around since the 70s) but was perfectly serviceable for a single guy. The square footage (for the model called "Arden") was better for the money than some of the competing apartment homes in the same price range. The place had new carpet. The apartment included A/C (radiant heat is included), older electric stove, small microwave, full size refrigerator, and disposal. There was an insect problem but it was rapidly addressed by the management team. I had a few issues during the year, each was solved within a day or two of reporting it. I found the laundry facilities to be OK if you understood that the machines are not made to wash and dry huge loads of clothing. As long as you don't overload them they work fine. All of the buildings here are concrete and this has the advantage that the flats are pretty well isolated from each other - you don't hear anywhere near as much noise as you would in a stick-and-frame building. I cannot overstate how nice this actually is in an apartment complex. Look around for my other reviews of the place with more detail (the character limit here forces me to cut my review down).
I recently join Village in the park. It is the place I called home while I am attending school to get my Master’s. It is also the place that I called home when I began to raise my foster son . For anyone moving to the area or wanting to find a quality apartment, I would send them to Village in the Park. The staff at the front is always helpful and friendly, especially when my son would go in and bug them after school! we would have remained at Village in the Park. Village in the Park – Thank You for Everything.
The place is located at such place where all major office locations are new. Nice locality and nice restaurants around. The Village In The Apartment is ok but not good . They don't take care of residents as they should do .Rent is very high compared to service . New resident should think twice before renting here
Live in the remodeled version looks very nice but is actually very overpriced for what you get. Perhaps it's because you're really paying for location? So many stores nearby and close to woodfield mall. Hallways often smell like curry and can seep into your apartment as well. I have a couple of neighbors on my floor that actually air out their apartment by keeping their front door open. I've talked to management about it but they're not too helpful. Neighbors also let their children run up and down the hallways screaming especially around dinner time and 10:00 at night. Just recently had new doors put in throughout the whole building and was left with a crack in my wall by the entrance to my apartment. Only cats are allowed which sucks since there's plenty of grass and space for dogs. Renters pay electricity and stove is electric which really racks up your bill every month. Air conditioning only cools down living room and kitchen area leaving bedroom to feel like a sauna in the summer I've resorted to bringing my mattress out into the living room to be closer to the air conditioner. Most of the residents are terrible drivers, I've only had my car since January of 2015 and there's already dents and scratches on my car there were not there when I bought the car. Over all, when choosing this as my first apartment, I should've done more research and found a better neighborhood. I cannot wait till my lease is up.
Gave 4 stars largely for location. Fast access to expressways, tons of restaurants and shops within couple miles. Complex is large, but a bit of park like setting. Can be a little loud sometimes outside, but little noise from neighbors when windows are closed. Wall air conditioner is loud though. Apartment is a little outdated, but maintained. Free heat and rest of utilities are relatively cheap. Pools, playground, outdoor areas are nicely kept.
It's a great place to live! I have lived in a one bedroom since January and have no complaints, The office staff is super nice and the maintenance guys in the building always show up when i need something taken care of. I'm not aware of any pest control issues in the building, but when I moved in the office did explain that they have a guy come out a couple times a week and to call if I ever have any problems. I would recommend the place to my friends.
Mold and roaches everywhere. Maintenance came all the time and nothing ever got fixed. Management always denied there was a problem. After a year of trouble they tried to raise my rent. What a joke.
Once of the worse maintenance I have seen in my US history .The staff are pretty much rude and the the worse part is maintenance which I can see in building 1410 .He never try to solve the problem for any of my problem.
I lived at Village in the Park for 2 ½ years from 2005 to 2008 and returned in 2011 to 2013. It was the place I called home while I was attending school to get my Master’s. It was also the place that I called home when I began to raise my foster son (who was 12 when he moved in). For anyone moving to the area or wanting to find a quality apartment, I would send them to Village in the Park. The staff at the front were always helpful and friendly, especially when my son would go in and bug them after school! They were accommodating to our needs and allowed me to raise my son in the best possible environment. The only reason we moved out in 2013 was to get a house. If that wasn’t an option, we would have remained at Village in the Park. Village in the Park – Thank You for Everything.
