East Shore is a suburban stretch of Harrisburg that starts immediately east of downtown. Coupled with Central Harrisburg, this swath of suburban Pennsylvania is a fast-growing section of the city. There are several suburban neighborhoods and villages that comprise East Shore/Central, and each of them provides just a little more space and peace and quiet than Downtown Harrisburg. The area is bisected by Interstate 81, making commutes into the city or any of the other neighboring communities easy.
There are many rentals options, as well as attractions and conveniences in the East Shore/Central area. Linglestown Road holds many residential areas and dining and shopping options. Colonial Park Mall is home to grocers and big-box stores as well. A commute into Downtown Harrisburg can range from 10 to 20 minutes depending on where you are, but the nearby highways make exploring the area a breeze.

Property Ratings at Village Knoll Apartment Homes
I have lived here for three years and this will be my last year. I don't really want to move, but this complex has really gone to pot. Maintenance takes weeks to respond if they even show up at all! The areas around to dumpsters are covered in garbage and it blows all over the place and there is discarded furniture everywhere. The groundskeeper does a good job, but what is the use of nice flowers outside your door when your apartment is falling apart inside?! They have started to rent to some questionable people as well and people who own dogs and not only do not pick up after them, but let them run loose. The breed restriction is lie, I have seen both pit bulls and Rottweilers. It is too bad because with the large balconies and generally good floor plans, these apartments could be really nice. Look elsewhere: for the price you pay here you can find something else, probably with a pool, tennis court or even a playground or gym-Village Knoll has none of these things!!
I have lived here about 3 months and so far it has been nothing but good! The place is very pet friendly which I love because my dogs are my children! I only had to call maintenance twice so far and both times they came the same day and fixed the small things. Once time my closet door came off track, and the other time my towel bar fell off the wall. Great location. Everyone including neighbors have been really nice to me.
Only good thing about this apartment complex is the location, only been here 3-4months and not happy. Don't bother calling maintaince because you'll just be waiting around for nothing. Awful communication between rental office and renters, AND definitely not friendly staff. A lot of things around the complex need fixed up and no changes have been made. Not to mention our electric is ridiculous for how small the apartments are.. Heat does not stay in. Regret settling, should of kept looking.
Not sure if my last review posted, but it is quiet here and my husnband and I love it! great area too.
My family have been looking and looking for a place!!! And we finally found it! I have lived here for 2 months, so I was waiting to see if anything came about so I could give an honest review. BUT...we LOVE IT! My kids love to play ball in the field, we love to sit out on our balcony, we needed a closet door put back on and i called and it was fixed the same day! Everyone is so nice here, the office people, the maintenance men, and the other people that live here.
I moved from a large house into this complex and am so pleased at the location, beautiful trees and surrounding single family homes in this community. The Property Manager provided me with a nice little welcome gift and I look forward to meeting my new neighbors and enjoying this wonderful place to live.
I toured this property. The office staff was unprofessional, and the apartment was dark and poorly maintained. You could see sunlight through the edge of the front door. Even their biggest apartment was small. They have some strange rules (in order to grill, you have to move your grill to the sidewalk; no grilling on the grass or anywhere near the building). The staff member claimed that Directv satellites received no signals. Don't live here.
Property Manager at Village Knoll Apartment Homes, Responded To This Review
I am sorry our visit was so unpleasant. We do strive to always be professional when touring an apartment. One of the great things about our community is we will show you an actual vacant apartment (rather than a model that will look nothing like the actual apartment you would pay rent for.) Please keep in mind, the apartments may need things taken care of; as it is very seldom that we have empty apartments; so chances are, someone had recently moved out of one apartment, as we are working on it for a new tenant to come in. Since we are an apartment community, due to curb appeal, trees causing interferences, as well as all our buildings facing different directions-we do not work with satellite companies. However, we have our own Comcast and Verizon Reps that work specifically with our community and can offer great specials for all your television and internet needs. All our apartments are cable/phone/internet ready as well. We offer both Xfinity and Verizon Fios. Grilling is allowed on any and all of the grassy areas on our property; however, it is not allowed to be used on the patio/balcony due to the Lower Paxton Township Ordinance in place. Since both the patio as well as the balcony are a roofed area, it is unfortunately a hazard to grill on either of these areas. However, you are welcome to store your grill on your patio and balcony when not in use.
I was very surprised that an apartment complex office would close at 4:30, when most people WORK during the day and usually until 4:30 or 5:00. When I was finally able to make an appointment, I was not told that the office was on the Second floor. I have extreme arthritis in my legs (knees & hips) and found it Very Difficult to make it up the steps. The person in the office was very curt and uninterested in my difficulties. When I looked at the 2 bedroom apartment, I was amazed at how small it was. Overall, my experience left a lot to be desired! I have found a lovely place elsewhere.

I am moving in next month and can't wait! The kitchen is fully equipped with all appliances, and it is a great price for the nice area. School district is also amazing. The leasing agent showed me both apartments that were available and I was even able to pick which location I wanted.
